Density is an important parameter to determine the strength of road, and it will ensure the safety of the use as well as maintaining the quality of road pavement. In this paper, the validation of GPR mixture model based on the microwave nondestructive free space method to determine the density of road pavement typed Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) will be presented. The frequency range of operation used is 1.7-2.6GHz. The attenuation is a major factor for gathering the density of road pavement predictably. The existing mixture model has been used to produce simulation data for determining the predicted complex permittivity and attenuation due to various densities of road pavement. The GPR laboratory measurement is performed where the measured attenuation due to various densities was obtained. The comparison results between measurement and simulation were investigated, and the relative errors in between were calculated to see the performance of the model. The best performance of mixture model was selected due to the smallest mean error using the optimization technique. An improved attenuation formula or optimized mixture model was obtained from the optimization technique to produce the better model. The finding from the optimization process suggested that three additional constant parameters which are volume factor, permittivity factor and attenuation factor need to be included to improve the existing mixture model. The optimized mixture model is introduced as GPR mixture model in this work. The validation process at field test had been conducted to evaluate the performance of optimized GPR model and produce the error range from 3.3% and 4.7%. At the end of this project, the GPR mixture model can be used as a calibration curve where the values of predicted density of a given real road pavement can be read directly once the attenuation values are known.

A person's clothes color information was estimated by using a prototype PC-based system. The novel concept can be divided into 3 stages. First, space-variant color filter is put onto the lens of the monochrome security camera. Secondly, when a crime takes place, the camera records suspected person. Finally, just after the crime, characteristics of the space-variant color filter are measured by the police, and the color of the clothes of the suspected person is estimated. In this experiment six kind reference color cloth were used. The result shows using this system to estimate the clothes color is easily, rapidly and precisely.

This paper presents a continuous authentication system based on user behavior analysis that makes use of environmental context information, users' behavior analysis and Neuro-Fuzzy Logic. This system must be able to acquire information in context, making them into a computational environment. This information is the basis of user behavior. The system, based on the evidences of the behavior, establishes if it can trust the user or not. According to the user behavior, levels of trust are released, to access the application software. Weights are attributed in the fuzzyfication process, according to the rules that were previously established for the parameters which help to establish the evidences of behavioral trust, in its different degrees. The neuro-fuzzy logic allows that the user behavioral database be continuously updated, interacting with the fuzzyfication mechanism, so as to keep trust levels updated according to the user behavior, in a more accurate and faithful way.

Cooperative diversity techniques make a reduction in spectral efficiency despite of an increase in reliability. In this paper we propose a novel relaying protocol in a cooperative network with decode and forward (DF) relays to improve the spectral efficiency in addition to achieving full diversity order (maximum available reliability). The proposed protocol keeps the transmission rate fixed to the rate of point-to-point transmission and outperforms rather than conventional relaying protocols such as fixed, selection and incremental relaying protocols. The simulation results show the effectiveness of our method and confirm our claim.

Embracing reduced requirements and leveraging commercial technology has led to a fast growing small satellite industry. Although most interest in small satellites has hovered around the micro-satellites through to the pico-satellites, academic interest now extends up to the sub 100 g range of satellites as well. Femto-satellites with a mass range between 10 g and 100 g could in the future be mass produced and hundreds to thousands of femto-satellites can be deployed as a cluster to enhance, for example, the situational awareness of the Earth's environment. Femto-satellite is seen to form the next class of miniature satellites which will exploit spacecraft engineering, swarm science and mission design to realize exciting new space missions. Consequently, there has been considerable research interest in the sub 100 g range of satellites and the advantage of distributed satellites in space. However, most of the research work has been limited to a bottom-up approach to realize an individual femto-satellite with as much functionality as possible, without sufficient attention to the realization of an application using these distributed femto-satellites in space. This has resulted in an ambiguous top tier of space applications whose realization with a cluster of femto-satellites is arguable. The paper outlines the different realizations of distributed systems in space and identifies the most suitable candidate for femto-satellites. The aim is to map the user requirements for applications to the scaled capability of a cluster of femto-satellites, thereby aiding to systematically identify potential applications for femto-clusters. The principal challenge is that there exists no simple means to scale the capability of an individual femto-satellite to the capability of a distributed cluster of femto-satellites. In this paper, we propose a new method to enhance the performance of digital image watermarking based on pixels modification. The proposed method is implemented in both watermark embedding and retrieving processes. In the embedding process, an averaging technique is applied to the luminance components of the host image in order to obtain a better fine tuned watermark signal strength. In the retrieval process, a new prediction technique is used to adaptively remove a pair of nearby pixels having the highest difference from the predicting pixel in order to obtain a better watermark accuracy. The experimental results in terms of PSNR and NC values of the proposed method are given and compared to the previous watermarking methods. In addition, the improved robustness against attacks from the proposed method are presented and compared.
