The traditional SR image registrations are based on translation motion model therefore super-resolution applications can apply only on the sequences that have simple translation motion. In this paper, we present a novel image registration, the fast affine block-based registration, for performing super-resolution using multiple images. We propose super-resolution reconstruction that uses a high accuracy registration algorithm, the fast affine block-based registration [15], and is based on a maximum a posteriori estimation technique by minimizing a cost function. The L1 norm is used for measuring the difference between the projected estimate of the high-resolution image and each low resolution image, removing outliers in the data and errors due to possibly inaccurate motion estimation. Bilateral regularization is used as prior knowledge for removing outliers, resulting in sharp edges and forcing interpolation along the edges and not across them. The experimental results show that the proposed reconstruction can apply on real sequence such as Suzie.

Public universities are widely regarded not only as teaching establishments but also as organizations that create new knowledge and support social communities. Under great competition in higher education level, numbers of universities have implemented strategies and tools that improve quality of students and research results and provide several community services for building their competitiveness. ICT based knowledge management is usually recommended as one of important roles to improve efficiency and effectiveness in university mandates and provide many benefits to university. Kasetsart University (KU), one of Thailand's largest and most progressive public universities, has applied KM in its strategies in order to overcome resource scarcity and enhance its competitive advantages. It has developed several KM practices and projects using ICT in several activities which relate to mandates. The initial findings indicate that (1) ICT based KM system significantly enhances the university's competitiveness in term of quality and quantity of student, research results and innovative community services. (2) The specific KM practices and projects support different aspects of university mandates. This ICT based KM system has been implemented and proved to be practical. This system is suitable for the university full of educational mission, innovative research, latest body of knowledge, academic services offered to society and community as well as the Thai culture preservation, a standard mission for Thai higher education institution. This model could be the best practice for further improvement and be customized to fit other universities in other developing countries

Open-top chambers (OTC) are experimental facilities that have been widely used to expose plants to an atmosphere with high concentration of CO2 for a long period. In carbon dioxide enriched environment vegetal species tend to intensify the photosynthesis process and consequently they acquire biomass more quickly. Currently there is a trend to use CO2 injection to speed up the production of vegetal species. In addition, the growing concern with the global warming stimulated experiments with OTC to evaluate the effects of high CO2 concentration on plants. The project of an efficient control system for those chambers depends upon a model that represents the dynamics of the process. This work describes a way to model the CO2 concentration inside an OTC by means of experimental data. The parameters of different auto regressive models (ARX and ARMAX) were estimated to fit the observed data. The models that presented the best performance were analyzed on the frequency domain with the intention of validating the most appropriate model for control purposes. The identification resulted in a first order output error (ARMAX) model that presented a fit of 69.64% to reproduce the validation data. This model showed to be reliable up to 0.35 rad/s.

Design parameters of a supervisory (SV) system intended for a distributed Raman amplifier (DBA) is investigated theoretically. The pump is low frequency modulated to transmit supervisory information which forms part of the fault management system in a Raman amplified fiber optic network. Issues regarding modulation frequency of the SV signal and its effect on the integrity of the signal are studied. Power penalty issues due to introduction of the SV signal in the optical network are also studied. These theoretical studies are based on numerical solution of coupled propagation equations for counter-pumped DRA.

An efficient approach to mitigate the howling effect in hearing aids is via the use of Acoustic Feedback Cancellation (AFC). In this paper, the use of a Forward Linear Predictor (FLP) is investigated to improve the performance of an AFC system in multi-band hearing aids. The FLP is used to predict the speech input signal before eliminating it from the error signal of the AFC system. computer simulations demonstrate that more accurate estimation of the acoustic feedback signal than the conventional AFC system can be obtained. In addition, maximum usable gain of hearing aids required by the users can be achieved when employing the proposed multi-band AFC system.

A new global positioning system (GPS) antenna is proposed to cover the three GPS bands (L1, L2, and L5, namely 1575, 1227, and 1176 MHz) with the L5 band to be added after 2006. The developed antenna size is only $1.5^primeprimetimes 1.5^primeprime$ in aperture corresponding to $lambda/7timeslambda/7$ $(lambda=hboxfree hboxspace hboxwavelength)$ and $lambda/13 hboxthick$. Quadrature feeding is employed to ensure right-hand circular polarized (RHCP) radiation. The final miniature antenna exhibits a gain greater than 2 dBi, and to our knowledge this is the smallest such size for circular polarized (CP) operation covering all three bands. Detailed parametric simulations leading to the best design along with measurements for the constructed antenna are presented.
