Addressing the gap in effective and engaging renewable energy education, this study, 'Fiction to Function,' transitions imaginative frameworks into practical educational tools, focusing on solar and wind energy in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goal is to empower users with deep insights into renewable energy through the novel integration of MATLAB and ChatGPT-driven environments, enhancing the analysis and exploration of these energy sources. The study employs a structured approach using MATLAB App Designer to develop a user-friendly GUI, aligning instructional content with the SDGs and integrating ChatGPT via the OpenAI API for dynamic, interactive learning experiences. This integration provides a multifaceted platform that not only educates but also engages users in practical scenarios, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The results demonstrate an enhanced understanding of renewable energy concepts among users, showcasing the efficacy of combining MATLAB's analytical capabilities with ChatGPT's AI-driven guidance. Ultimately, the study highlights the transformative potential of innovative technology in sustainable energy education, setting a precedent for future educational tools in this domain. © 2024 IEEE.

Smoking is a major cause of cancer,heart disease and other afflictions that lead to early *** effective smoking classification mechanism that provides insights into individual smoking habits would assist in implementing addiction treatment *** activities often accompany other activities such as drinking or ***,smoking activity recognition can be a challenging topic in human activity recognition(HAR).A deep learning framework for smoking activity recognition(SAR)employing smartwatch sensors was proposed together with a deep residual network combined with squeeze-and-excitation modules(ResNetSE)to increase the effectiveness of the SAR *** proposed model was tested against basic convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and recurrent neural networks(LSTM,BiLSTM,GRU and BiGRU)to recognize smoking and other similar activities such as drinking,eating and walking using the UT-Smoke *** different scenarios were investigated for their recognition performances using standard HAR metrics(accuracy,F1-score and the area under the ROC curve).Our proposed ResNetSE outperformed the other basic deep learning networks,with maximum accuracy of 98.63%.

Novel Positive Multi-Layer Graph Based Method for Collaborative Filtering Recommender Systems

Recommender systems play an increasingly important role in a wide variety of applications to help users find favorite products. Collaborative filtering has remarkable success in terms of accuracy and becomes one of the most popular recommendation methods. However, these methods have shown unpretentious performance in terms of novelty, diversity, and coverage. We propose a novel graph-based collaborative filtering method, namely Positive Multi-Layer Graph-Based Recommender System (PMLG-RS). PMLG-RS involves a positive multi-layer graph and a path search algorithm to generate recommendations. The positive multi-layer graph consists of two connected layers: the user and item layers. PMLG-RS requires developing a new path search method that finds the shortest path with the highest cost from a source node to every other node. A set of experiments are conducted to compare the PMLG-RS with well-known recommendation methods based on three benchmark datasets, MovieLens-100K, MovieLens-Last, and Film Trust. The results demonstrate the superiority of PMLG-RS and its high capability in making relevant, novel, and diverse recommendations for users.

Industrial Cyber-Physical (ICP) systems are integration of computation and physical processes to help achieve operational excellence. As sensors and actuators compose the openly deployed ICP systems and are often susceptible to interference, it puts forward higher requirements on reliability. Reliable coverage ensures sensors acquiring information and therefore coverage reliability of sensor network is studied from various perspectives. However, most existing reliability evaluation methods ignore the belief degree of coverage which influences the reliability to an extent. To evaluate the coverage reliability from the perspective of belief degree, we firstly define Confident Information Coverage Belief Reliability (CICBR) based on the Confident Information Coverage (CIC) model and D-S evidence theory, which comprehensively considers the coverage rate, interference from the environment, and belief degree of the result. Next, to evaluate the belief degree more reasonably, an Evidence-discount-based basic probability assignment generating method is proposed based on D-S theory to describe the interference in the belief degree. Moreover, a belief evaluation algorithm is proposed to calculate the belief degree of the coverage. Finally, an evidence-Discount-based Confident Information Coverage Belief Reliability Evaluation (D-CICBRE) algorithm is proposed to evaluate CICBR. The simulation result indicates that the proposed method can obtain higher and more reasonable reliability. Therefore, the proposed D-CICBRE algorithm can be used to evaluate the reliability of ICP systems more accurately and reasonably. © 2023 IEEE.

Falls are the contributing factor to both fatal and nonfatal injuries in the ***,pre-impact fall detection,which identifies a fall before the body collides with the floor,would be ***,researchers have turned their attention from post-impact fall detection to pre-impact fall ***-impact fall detection solutions typically use either a threshold-based or machine learning-based approach,although the threshold value would be difficult to accu-rately determine in threshold-based ***,while additional features could sometimes assist in categorizing falls and non-falls more precisely,the esti-mated determination of the significant features would be too time-intensive,thus using a significant portion of the algorithm’s operating *** this work,we developed a deep residual network with aggregation transformation called FDSNeXt for a pre-impact fall detection approach employing wearable inertial *** proposed network was introduced to address the limitations of fea-ture extraction,threshold definition,and algorithm *** training on a large-scale motion dataset,the KFall dataset,and straightforward evaluation with standard metrics,the proposed approach identified pre-impact and impact falls with high accuracy of 91.87 and 92.52%,*** addition,we have inves-tigated fall detection’s performances of three state-of-the-art deep learning models such as a convolutional neural network(CNN),a long short-term memory neural network(LSTM),and a hybrid model(CNN-LSTM).The experimental results showed that the proposed FDSNeXt model outperformed these deep learning models(CNN,LSTM,and CNN-LSTM)with significant improvements.

The inclusion-exclusion principle together with Legendre type theorems for number of distinct restricted partitions weighted by the parity of their length are used to give several recurrence relations for restricted partition numbers as well as for overpartition numbers. In the case of overpartitions, POD partitions and 3-color partitions, we give combinatorial proofs for the Legendre type theorems and arrive to combinatorial proofs for the recurrence relations. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Pure metallic reflectarray antennas have good power efficiency and low fabrication cost, limited to single-band operation in the past. A dual-band reflectarray antenna is developed for two directional beams by two feeds. The reflecting elements are metal waveguides and have novel properties of both resonant and non-resonant modes at the two frequency bands. The low and high-frequency bands can be easily separated by the cutoff frequency of waveguide modes. The phase-changing mechanisms via ray optics and fundamental waveguide modes, respectively, provide simple formulations for the elemental structure design of directional beams. Radiation characteristics of the linear and circular polarizations are cross-examined with a good performance by full-wave simulations using HFSS, FEKO, and CST at 28 and 60 GHz bands for 5G front-haul network applications. In particular, we have used HFSS to simulate the reflecting elements' basic characteristics of phase variation, FEKO to simulate the linear polarization antenna case, and CST to simulate the circular polarization antenna case, respectively. © 2023. This research looked at the transformative potential of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms in various areas of precision agriculture, with an emphasis on enhancing smart irrigation systems for onion farming. Using a vast sensor network and real-time monitoring, we investigated the performance of CNN, ANN, and SVM, three well-known machine learning algorithms. After extensive testing and investigation, our results reveal that CNN beats ANN and SVM in terms of outstanding accuracy in predicting plant water requirements. Because of CNN's superior predictive powers, our intelligent irrigation system maintains perfect soil conditions, resulting in increased agricultural yields and resource savings. The study's findings have important implications for modern agriculture, paving the way for data-driven, sustainable agricultural methods that address global concerns such as food security and environmental sustainability. As we approach the era of smart agriculture, our research demonstrates how technology has the potential to alter crop farming and aid in the development of a more resilient and successful agricultural industry. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Mobile advert hoc networks (MANETs) are self-organizing, infrastructure-less networks together with cellular nodes that talk with each other without delay over wireless links. In spite of the numerous benefits they offer, MANETs need more bandwidth and strength assets and numerous inherent obstacles such as route preservation price and transmission reliability. To address those issues, this paper gift a routing method based on multipath routing and community coding for MANETs. Multipath routing is based on packet-degree duplication to stabilize the traffic load among multiple paths to be had in the network. In contrast, network coding combines more than one packet at community interface nodes, which will increase throughput and reduce manipulation overhead when packets traverse intermediate nodes. The proposed routing method combines each of these techniques, which ends up in efficient and dependable information transmission, even as concurrently decreasing the stress on the network sources. The proposed approach changed into simulating the usage of an OMNeT++ simulator and evaluated in terms of shipping ratio and common stop-to-give-up postponement. The simulation outcomes confirmed that the proposed technique outperforms multipath routing without network coding and single-direction routing in phrases of delivery ratio and average end-to-give-up delay. © 2024 IEEE.

Multiview clustering has wide real-world applications because it can process data from multiple sources. However, these data often contain missing instances and noises, which are ignored by most multiview clustering methods. Missing instances may make these methods difficult to use directly, and noises will lead to unreliable clustering results. In this article, we propose a novel autoweighted noisy and incomplete multiview clustering (ANIMC) approach via a soft autoweighted strategy and a doubly soft regular regression model. First, by designing adaptive semiregularized nonnegative matrix factorization, the soft autoweighted strategy assigns a proper weight to each view and adds a soft boundary to balance the influence of noises and incompleteness. Second, by proposing θ-norm, the doubly soft regularized regression model adjusts the sparsity of our model by choosing different θ. Compared with previous methods, ANIMC has three unique advantages: 1) it is a soft algorithm to adjust our approach in different scenarios, thereby improving its generalization ability;2) it automatically learns a proper weight for each view, thereby reducing the influence of noises;3) it performs doubly soft regularized regression that aligns the same instances in different views, thereby decreasing the impact of missing instances. Extensive experimental results show its superior advantages over other state-of-the-art works. © 2020 IEEE.
