Net single premium determination of crop insurance product based on rainfall and temperature

How to determine net single premium for a crop insurance product based on two variables that contributed to bivariate distribution of this model is introduced in this paper. In prior, we need to fix the bivariate distribution of maximum daily rainfall and maximum daily temperature in a specific area. The benefit claim model for this crop insurance product requires characteristics of agricultural commodity and univariate model of each variable. The benefit claim model is focused to give benefit claim to policyholder if high and low two variables due to the risk of agricultural commodity. A benchmark value of the model as threshold to pay full benefit claim to policyholder because of fulfilling the high risk is called as the exit. A benchmark value that consists of the partial risk and gives partial benefit payment to policyholder is the trigger. The value of net single premium can be determined by the exit and the trigger. Case study demonstrated the correlation between maximum daily rainfall and temperature data in Dramaga Bogor from September to December during 1984-2021 using Kendall Tau correlation and gives the negative relation. It showed that GEV is the best model of other models chosen to represent the univariate distribution of each variable. Then, Cramer Von Mises is used to select the bivariate distribution. Frank Copula is chosen. Consequently, the net single premium in this research is calculated by IDR 2 178 919/hectare.

With the increased use of ionizing radiations across a spectrum of applications, the quest for identifying low-cost thermoluminescence (TL) materials to be used for radiation dosimetry is of vital importance. Therefore, identification and confirmation of natural materials suitable for radiation dosimetry is an active area of research. Such potential materials must have features like rigidity, insolubility, and chemical inertness etc. besides having additional dosimetric characteristics. One such promising low-cost material can be a limestone having vast deposits in Pakistan. So far, the TL and dosimetric characterization of pellets fabricated with Pakistani limestone and irradiated with X-rays has not been previously reported. All the studied literature has reported powdered form of limestone. The present study reports pelletized limestone and its intercomparison with *** quarried crystalline samples of limestone were hand crushed, sieved and compressed to fabricate pellets of size comparable to standard TLD chips. TL response, kinetic parameters, dose linearity, batch homogeneity, individual sensitivity correction factor (i.e., elemental correction coefficient ECC), lowest detectable dose limit (LDDL), coefficient of variation (COV), energy dependency (for X-ray energy range from 50 kV to 6 MV), and response fading (for a month) were determined and compared with TLD-100. For TL analysis, pellets were irradiated to 250 kV X-rays with a dose of 8 Gy. The pellets exhibited complex TL glow curve showing four peaks (P1, P2, P3 and P4) with a peak temperature of around P1 (90–110°C), P2 (130–170°C), P3 (240–280°C) and P4 (320–350°C) respectively. A dose linearity (with 250 kV X-rays) for 1–10 Gy, was observed while comparing with TLD-100. The pellets showed a linearity while TLD-100 showed supra-linearity in the studied dose range. A study on retrospective dosimetry was performed using electronic personal dosimeters (EPDs) for reconstructing doses received by radiographic testing workers. The dosimetric properties of the thermoluminescence (TL) peak in the temperature range of 100-200 °C were investigated by measuring the TL of the resistor extracted from the EPDs in a darkroom environment. Results showed that this TL peak exhibited optimal dosimetric properties, with a minimum detectable dose as low as 13 mGy. To calculate the absorbed dose using the resistor, a simplified single aliquot regenerative (SAR) dose method using the TL peak was employed. The zero dose of the commercial EPD (model CLOVER) was determined to be 58 ± 72 mGy through the random selection of six EPDs. Additionally, a dose overestimation correction factor of 1.73 ± 0.09 was calculated. Furthermore, it was observed that the TL signal faded exponentially to approximately 60% over a period of 12 weeks. Subsequently, retrospective dosimetry was performed by irradiating EPDs with a standard gamma ray dose of 1 Gy. The radiation exposure dose calculated from the TL peak of the resistor was found to be approximately 10% lower. These findings showed that the retrospective dosimetry with EPD can be utilized for accurately estimating the radiation exposure dose. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the problem of ageing population increasingly prominent, the burden of families, caregivers and medical workers to take care of older adults will be heavier. Social exclusion and cognitive dysfunctions make things worse, especially in times of a pandemic. One of the most effective approaches to solve these problems can be technology, which application is often limited by the acceptance of the end user. We introduce a social robot, DarumaTO-3, whose appearance is inspired by a traditional Buddhist and Shinto doll called Daruma, and perform a preliminary test in which we hear the response from older adults. This paper describes this new robot prototype, and reports the feedback received from the early deployment with 44 Japanese older adults. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A miniaturized tissue equivalent proportional counter (mini-TEPC) cannot accommodate an internal alpha source for calibration. Instead, electron and proton edges on Monte Carlo (MC)-generated lineal energy spectra can be identified as makers for this purpose. A mini-TEPC of 1 mm-diameter and-length cylinder was assumed to be irradiated with 137Cs or 252Cf source and to have the tissue size of 1 or 2 µm. The electron edge marker, yδδ (maximum of second derivative of the fitted function) from Geant4 and MCNP6 was close to each other and comparable to the analytical values. The proton edges from the two codes were comparable, especially in yδδ but showed a difference from the analytical values. The lineal energy spectra from Geant4 and MCNP6 simulations were somewhat different in their peak locations. However, MC simulations of realistic detector and source geometry would provide practical channel positions of electron and proton edges for calibration of mini-TEPC. © 2022, The Authors. His work examines game engines and design through a feminist technoscience studies lens. is a co-guest editor for this special issue Critical Game Design and an associate professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. His research examines the creative collaborative work of (video)game design and development. This research examines the cultural and collaborative dynamics that occur in both professional “AAA” organizations and formal and informal “independent” game development communities. His book Developer's Dilemma was published by MIT Press (2014).

This special issue addresses the epistemological, institutional, and political challenges of integrating critical games scholarship with game development practices and pedagogy. The featured essays help form a foundation for Critical Game Design and draw from intellectual traditions and debates not only from both game studies and game design, but from the classical design disciplines as well. We aim to build more connective tissue and collaboration between game design and the broader design disciplines, allowing space for research, scholarship, and creative work that drives the underlying epistemological core of the many spaces in which all designers find themselves educated and employed.
