The Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI) aims at comparing ontology matching systems on precisely defined test cases. These test cases can be based on ontologies of different levels of complexity and use different evaluation modalities. The OAEI 2022 campaign offered 14 tracks and was attended by 18 participants. Continual learning (CL) provides a framework for training models in ever-evolving environments. Although re-occurrence of previously seen objects or tasks is common in real-world problems, the concept of repetition in the data stream is not often considered in standard benchmarks for CL. Unlike with the rehearsal mechanism in buffer-based strategies, where sample repetition is controlled by the strategy, repetition in the data stream naturally stems from the environment. This report provides a summary of the CLVision challenge at CVPR 2023, which focused on the topic of repetition in class-incremental learning. The report initially outlines the challenge objective and then describes three solutions proposed by finalist teams that aim to effectively exploit the repetition in the stream to learn continually. The experimental results from the challenge highlight the effectiveness of ensemble-based solutions that employ multiple versions of similar modules, each trained on different but overlapping subsets of classes. This report underscores the transformative potential of taking a different perspective in CL by employing repetition in the data stream to foster innovative strategy design. © 2024, CC BY.

Nowadays, software systems and applications need to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and evolve in an agile manner. This creates the need for independent deployments, e.g. as part of DevOps. Due to the flexibility and fast release cycles comprised by DevOps, continuous monitoring and the generation of feedback is crucial to a system's quality, especially if it is continuously developed. For this purpose, we propose a feedback system that combines operations data with development data in order to trace anomalies occurring in production back to their root cause by defining patterns, detecting anomalous behavior, and generating feedback that is transferred back into the development process. To this end, we utilize two different unsupervised machine learning techniques, the k-means clustering and the archetypal analysis, to describe the data set and use the results as a basis to characterize the behavior of new data points as either normal or anomalous. The feedback system was tested and evaluated using real data produced by an application that is currently developed within a large, industrial company and serves as a link to support the loop of continuous planning, development, deployment, monitoring, and feedback. © 2019 IEEE.

Resource management in computing is a very challenging problem that involves making sequential decisions. Resource limitations, resource heterogeneity, dynamic and diverse nature of workload, and the unpredictability of fog/edge computing environments have made resource management even more challenging to be considered in the fog landscape. Recently Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based solutions are adopted to solve this problem. AI/ML methods with the capability to make sequential decisions like reinforcement learning seem most promising for these type of problems. But these algorithms come with their own challenges such as high variance, explainability, and online training. The continuously changing fog/edge environment dynamics require solutions that learn online, adopting changing computing environment. In this paper, we used standard review methodology to conduct this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyze the role of AI/ML algorithms and the challenges in the applicability of these algorithms for resource management in fog/edge computing environments. Further, various machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning techniques for edge AI management have been discussed. Furthermore, we have presented the background and current status of AI/ML-based Fog/Edge Computing. Moreover, a taxonomy of AI/ML-based resource management techniques for fog/edge computing has been proposed and compared the existing techniques based on the proposed taxonomy. Finally, open challenges and promising future research directions have been identified and discussed in the area of AI/ML-based fog/edge computing. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. PFV2: Packet fragmentation with variable size and vigorous mapping in time-sensitive networking

With the rapid advancement of intelligent automobiles, the ever-growing communication data put forward high bandwidth and low latency requirements. To meet these requirements, automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) widely adopt domain-centralized Electrical/Electronic (E/E) architecture. In this architecture, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is expected to serve as the backbone network because of its high bandwidth and deterministic communication. TSN uses the Gate Control List (GCL) to divide its time length into multiple time slots, and the time intervals of these time slots are non-uniform (equal or unequal). Different flows have varying requirements for time slot sizes. To enhance the acceptance ratio of Time-Triggered (TT) flows through GCL time slot allocation, packet fragmentation (i.e., flow fragmentation) is introduced into TSN in the recent study. The state-of-the-art packet fragmentation solution divides one un-schedulable TT flow into multiple equal-sized packets (i.e., equal-sized time slots). In other words, these fixed-size packets are difficult to be mapped into the time slots with different sizes. This study develops a Packet Fragmentation with Variable-size and Vigorous-mapping (PFV2) technique based on the following three innovations: (1) we implement variable-size packet fragmentation, which iteratively divides the un-schedulable TT flow into smaller packets and then dynamically reschedules these packets; (2) we implement the vigorous mapping solution from packets to time slots by deeply searching for available time slots within the flow’s deadline; and (3) we verify PFV2 based on the LS1028A with Cortex-A72 (i.e., the NXP automotive-grade development board). PFV2 improves the acceptance ratio by up to 20.18% and bandwidth utilization by up to 7.024% compared with the state-of-the-art solution. Recent trends towards autonomous driving are complemented by vehicular networking solutions, leading to what we now call cooperative autonomous driving systems. This trend is quite visible to the public in the automotive domain;however, only few know about the massive technological progress in the agricultural world. Here, autonomous driving, i.e., automated harvesting, etc, is already standard and early approaches to cooperative maneuvers have been brought to market already. The open question is how to internetwork all heavy machinery. We address exactly this issue and study the feasibility of wireless communication protocol stacks, in particular IEEE 802.11p, developed for use on the road - now for in-field operation. We performed an extensive measurement study, which brings up several quite interesting findings that need to be taken care of when adopting these protocol stacks to agricultural applications. © 2018 IEEE.

The Bavarian higher education environment is aiming to renew its IT strategy. The overall objective is to find an organisational solution which allows both local independence and collaborative solutions in those areas which are either commodities or which are too complex or costly to be solved several times in parallel. All Bavarian CIOs are engaged in the development of a model which respects local governance to be included into the overarching IT strategy of Bavaria, potentially Germany and Europe. As a common framework, COBIT was chosen to structure the process and guarantee completeness. The application of COBIT was started by the agreement to a common model. Further, the description of the respective responsibilities and competencies for all stakeholders was defined. We share this current state of the discussion with the broader community of higher education to promote further discussions about methods and objectives. © 2020 Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI). Measuring sentiment in social media text has become an important practice in studying emotions at the macroscopic level. However, this approach can suffer from methodological issues like sampling biases and measurement errors. To date, it has not been validated if social media sentiment can actually measure the temporal dynamics of mood and emotions aggregated at the level of communities. We ran a large-scale survey at an online newspaper to gather daily mood self-reports from its users, and compare these with aggregated results of sentiment analysis of user discussions. We find strong correlations between text analysis results and levels of self-reported feelings, as well as between inter-day changes of both measurements. We replicate these results using sentiment data from Twitter. We show that a combination of supervised text analysis methods based on novel deep learning architectures and unsupervised dictionary-based methods have high agreement with the time series of aggregated mood measured with self-reports. Our findings indicate that macro level dynamics of feelings expressed on an online platform can be tracked with social media text, especially in situations of high mood variability. © 2021, CC BY.

Smart homes (SHs) and smart buildings (SBs) play a crucial role in addressing global urbanization and are key elements of smart cities (SCs). They utilize integrated systems to process large volumes of data, enabling intelligent responses and improved quality of life. However, the growing number of connected devices and increasing data demands have exceeded the capabilities of existing network technologies, reducing service effectiveness. This article provides a comprehensive survey of emerging technologies, especially those underexplored in SH and SB contexts. It highlights the potential of sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) to transform smart indoor environments through greater automation, intelligence, and adaptability. The authors first analyze the limitations of current IoT-based systems and then examine advanced 6G technologies, including integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), machine learning (ML), visible light communication (VLC), reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), and blockchain (BC). These technologies aim to resolve issues related to scalability, connectivity, and interoperability that challenge current IoT/5G models. Unlike previous studies focusing on narrow areas such as energy or security, this survey takes a holistic approach. It aligns 6G capabilities with SH/SB needs like human-device interaction, energy efficiency, and robust security, and introduces new applications such as AI-driven digital twins and edge intelligence. The article also identifies research gaps, including resource allocation in diverse networks and ethical AI deployment. It offers guidance for future research and urges collaboration, standardization, and human-centric design to enable next-generation intelligent living environments.

Automatic Carnatic Music (CM) transcription is an open problem in need of a standardized descriptive notation. The level of detail needed in a descriptive transcription makes it tedious to obtain ground truth by manual means. In this paper, we propose a novel state-based representation of the pitch curve motivated by CM components called constant-pitch notes and stationary points. We also propose a novel transcription technique that uses the Viterbi algorithm to estimate the states and quantized pitch-values. The proposed technique adheres best to raga-notes compared to the existing critical-points technique and uniform quantization. In a listening test, clips synthesized from the proposed notation were rated significantly better (324 ratings, p <;0.001) than those from critical-points. Further, speed-halving based on state information best matches the actual, observed CM component-duration ratios without losing raga-characteristics. Thus, the proposed transcription can be corrected manually to obtain ground truth and can enhance learning tools.
