With the rapid development of the satellite industry, the information transmission network based on communication satellites has gradually become a major and important part of the future satellite ground integration network. However, the low transmission efficiency of the satellite data relay back mission has become a problem that is currently constraining the construction of the system and needs to be solved urgently. Effectively planning the task of satellite ground networking by reasonably scheduling resources is crucial for the efficient transmission of task data. In this paper, we hope to provide a task execution scheme that maximizes the profit of the networking task for satellite ground network planning considering feeding mode (SGNPFM). To solve the SGNPFM problem, a mixed-integer planning model with the objective of maximizing the gain of the link-building task is constructed, which considers various constraints of the satellite in the feed-switching mode. Based on the problem characteristics, we propose a distance similarity-based genetic optimization algorithm (DSGA), which considers the state characteristics between the tasks and introduces a weighted Euclidean distance method to determine the similarity between the tasks. To obtain more high-quality solutions, different similarity evaluation methods are designed to assist the algorithm in intelligently screening individuals. The DSGAalso uses an adaptive crossover strategy based on similarity mechanism, which guides the algorithm to achieve efficient population search. In addition, a task scheduling algorithm considering the feed-switching mode is designed for decoding the algorithm to generate a highquality scheme. The results of simulation experiments show that the DSGA can effectively solve the SGNPFM problem. For each smart home, the need of energy consumption supervision is necessary, which plays an important role to ensure the highest power quality and to enhance the stability of the whole grid. The current document implements a smart home supply strategy based on endless resources to reduce the electricity bill and confirm the energy balance. In this context, a proposed supervision algorithm operates in eight cases to reach optimal energy flow between renewable generators, home battery and grid in a smart home concept is presented. The system is evaluated using the framework “Business Process Model and Notation” (BPMN) Camunda basing on information stored in Firebase Cloud and results are presented in order to manifest the efficiency of this control strategy.

This paper presents how the PerFECt framework is employed to enable innovative teaching and learning mathematics in schools using drama-based approaches. The topic addressed lies in the cross-section between mathematics and computer science: teaching and learning the binary system of arithmetic that constitutes the basis of modern computing. The work builds on previous research efforts targeting gamification of mathematics and is seen under new light offered by the Theatre in Mathematics (TIM) Methodology. The result is an engaging game to teach the binary system to children using their bodies and simple rules for interacting with each other. Following these simple rules the participants enact the operation of a calculator that is able to transform integers into their binary representations and compute the result of the four arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). The game can be combined with online activities using a simulator of the game, so that learners can explore it for themselves and discover how the arithmetic operations are done, even when they are not in the same physical space with their peers. This way, an effective blended learning approach is ultimately offered combining face-to-face and online activities. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper reviews the NTIRE 2023 challenge on efficient single-image super-resolution with a focus on the proposed solutions and results. The aim of this challenge is to devise a network that reduces one or several aspects such as runtime, parameters, FLOPs, activations, memory footprint, and depth of RFDN while at least maintaining the PSNR of 29.00dB on DIV2K validation datasets. The challenge had 272 registered participants, and 35 teams made valid submissions. They gauge the state-of-the-art for efficient single-image super-resolution. © 2023 IEEE.

Unsupervised domain adaptation enables the transfer of knowledge from a lab.led source domain to an unlab.led target domain, and its application in crowd counting is gaining momentum. Current methods typically align distributions across domains to address inter-domain disparities at a global level. However, these methods often struggle with significant intra-domain gaps caused by domain-agnostic factors such as density, surveillance angles, and scale, leading to inaccurate alignment and unnecessary computational burdens, especially in large-scale training scenarios. To address these challenges, we propose the Multi-Granularity Optimal Transport (MGOT) distribution alignment framework, which aligns domain-agnostic factors across domains at different granularities. The motivation behind multi-granularity is to capture fine-grained domain-agnostic variations within domains. Our method proceeds in three phases: first, clustering coarse-grained features based on intra-domain similarity;second, aligning the granular clusters using an optimal transport framework and constructing a mapping from cluster centers to finer patch levels between domains;and third, re-weighting the aligned distribution for model refinement in domain adaptation. Extensive experiments across twelve cross-domain benchmarks show that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in adaptive crowd counting. © 1992-2012 IEEE.

The new reality brought about by digital technologies is characterized by new qualities, new opportunities for action, new community affordances, that are captures by the term onlife. This term was initially proposed in the Onlife Manifesto and used in this paper to signify certain qualities that are important in understanding modern digital platforms and applications as well as guide the efforts for effectively extending to provide new capabilities to their users. Specific design principles are presented exemplified by the presentation of the design of a Community of Practice for teachers involved in the pilot activities of the Erasmus+ project TIM - Theatre in Mathematics that promote the adoption of Theatre in teaching Mathematics in Primary and Lower Secondary Education targeting 8-14 years old students.

Decorrelation of neutral vector variables: Theory and applications

In this paper, we propose novel strategies for neutral vector variable decorrelation. Two fundamental invertible transformations, namely serial nonlinear transformation and parallel nonlinear transformation, are proposed to carry out the decorrelation. For a neutral vector variable, which is not multivariate Gaussian distributed, the conventional principal component analysis (PCA) cannot yield mutually independent scalar variables. With the two proposed transformations, a highly negatively correlated neutral vector can be transformed to a set of mutually independent scalar variables with the same degrees of freedom. We also evaluate the decorrelation performances for the vectors generated from a single Dirichlet distribution and a mixture of Dirichlet distributions. The mutual independence is verified with the distance correlation measurement. The advantages of the proposed decorrelation strategies are intensively studied and demonstrated with synthesized data and practical application evaluations. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. So far, the main fact is that RES plants have to operate at the maximum possible output whenever technically possible. However, in energy markets which consist of many different (flexible) power generation sources, this fact has led to the violation of the maximum overvoltage limit at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) and maximum short-circuit power at many HV/MV substations, hindering the penetration of other Renewable Energy Sources DGs. Taking also into account that in microgrids with R/X ratio higher than 2, the voltage level depends on the active power balance, a new microgrid control approach is also necessary. In this paper, the pseudo-State of Charge concept is introduced to improve energy storage management. Additionally, a non-invasive to the inverter, PV-plant control technique, based on remote control of PV-strings actuators, is presented. Both of these approaches are associated to a new iterative control algorithm of a microgrid and applied on a microgrid-based smart grid topology, improving power supply and demand-side management of traditional P-f and Q-V approaches.

We focus on generating consistent reconstructions of indoor spaces from a freely moving handheld RGB-D sensor, with the aim of creating virtual models that can be used for measuring and remodeling. We propose a novel 6D RGB-D odometry approach that finds the relative camera pose between consecutive RGB-D frames by keypoint extraction and feature matching both on the RGB and depth image planes. Furthermore, we feed the estimated pose to the highly accurate KinectFusion algorithm, which uses a fast ICP (Iterative-Closest-Point) to fine-tune the frame-to-frame relative pose and fuse the Depth data into a global implicit surface. We evaluate our method on a publicly availab.e RGB-D SLAM benchmark dataset by Sturm et al. The experimental results show that our proposed reconstruction method solely based on visual odometry and KinectFusion outperforms the state-of-the-art RGB-D SLAM system accuracy. Our algorithm outputs a ready-to-use polygon mesh (highly suitable for creating 3D virtual worlds) without any post-processing steps.

In cognitive radio network, one of the most significant issues is to design an effective framework in which multiple cognitive radio users coexist with each other without causing pernicious collision to primary users. Despite manifold works on this issue, complete solution with considering entire conditions has not been presented yet. By regarding this problem in an opportunistic spectrum access scenario, this paper investigates how cooperative cognitive radio users maximize their common utility functions through finite horizon in distributed manner. The model for transmission of primary user is assumed as a continuous-time on-off Markov process. Meanwhile, cognitive users transmit at constant time slot. Due to hardware limitation, a secondary user cannot sense the entire spectrum. So, we adapt a cooperative stochastic game, namely Decentralize Partially Observable Markov Decision Process, to this framework which guarantees maximization of throughput over fading channel. Furthermore, we propose an iterated algorithm to satisfy the collision constraints for protection of primary users. We alleviate this problem to near optimal solution which can cope for large time horizon. Simulation results indicate that our method outperforms the existing strategy. © 2012 IEEE.
