This paper concerns AC feeding system and the power supply in the dead section for auxiliary equipment. We developed the uninterruptible method using regenerative power of traction circuits through main transformer. To verify the proposed method, we executed the running tests using high power electrical locomotive. We show these outlines.

This paper presents a localization method in wide spaces using a sensor system consisting of an accelerometer and a single axis gyroscope. Specifically, the sensor board is loosely worn at three subjects' waists to make the system useful for practical applications. From the experimental results of the circular tracks with the radiuses of 1 m and 3 m, the turning angle threshold (TAT) algorithm is suggested with considering the threshold value of turning angles. The tracking experiments on the grid patterned track models have been performed, and the average distance deviations of the final tracking points from the destination points are approximately 15.2 m for raw data of the sensors and approximately 4.0 m for using TAT algorithm.

systems based on inertial sensors are increasingly used in motion analysis due to their low cost, portability and wearability. However, since accuracy is crucial in clinical gait analysis, it is important to assess it in new systems. The aim of this study is to compare the performances of a magnetic and inertial sensors system (MIMUs) to a gold standard, the electromechanical system STEP32. Results shows that spatio-temporal parameters are accurately estimated by the MIMUs system. Joint kinematics does not reach the accuracy of the STEP32 system. In fact, although MIMUs measurements on the knee and hip joints are clinically acceptable, they are not yet reliable for the ankle joint. © 2015 IEEE.

In this paper we propose a new method for the recognition of facial expressions from single image frame that uses combination of appearance and geometric features with support vector machines classification. In general, appearance features for the recognition of facial expressions are computed by div.ding face region into regular grid (holistic representation). But, in this paper we extracted region specific appearance features by div.ding whole face region into domain specific local regions. Geometric features are also extracted from corresponding domain specific regions. The results of facial expressions recognition using features from domain specific regions are also compared with the results obtained using holistic representation. The performance of the proposed facial expression recognition system has been validated on two public databases: CK+ and MUG facial expression dataset.

In this work, we propose an energy-efficient HTTP adaptive streaming for high-quality video over heterogeneous networks (HetNets). To support high-quality video and overcome the limitations of a single network, the proposed system downloads the video segments by concurrently using the HetNets. In the proposed system, the segment bitrate, number of requested segments, network sleep time, and size of requested data through each wireless network are determined adaptively to provide seamless high-quality video streaming in an energy and cost efficient way. The proposed system is fully implemented in an Android-based mobile device and tested in an actual wireless network environments.

The number of malware has sharply increased over years, and it caused various damages on computing systems and data. In this paper, we propose techniques to detect malware variants. Malware authors usually reuse malware modules when they generate new malware or malware variants. Therefore, malware variants have common code for some functions in their binary files. We focused on this common code in this research, and proposed the techniques to detect malware variants through similarity calculation of user-defined function. Since many malware variants evade malware detection system by transforming their static signatures, to cope with this problem, we applied pattern matching algorithms for DNA variations in Bioinformatics to similarity calculation of malware binary files. Since the pattern matching algorithm we used provides the local alignment function, small modification of functions can be overcome. Experimental results show that our proposed method can detect malware similarity and it is more resilient than other methods. © 2014 ACM.

In many industrial systems, the multivariable system which has mutual interference has to be dealt with. Therefore, decoupling the multivariable system is an important issue to construct a control system. Although various decoupling methods are proposed from the former, the present condition is that industrial application is not carried out positively. In such a background, the decoupling method in which an inverted decoupler was used, attracts attention due to the handling being easy as compared to the conventional method in recent years. That design approach has a desirable design for the continuous-time system. However, from a practical viewpoint, the design approach in a discrete-time system is desirable. In this paper, an inverted decoupler in a discrete-time system is constructed, and the design method of the multi-loop PID controller to the decoupling system is considered. Specifically, self-tuning control is constructed, whose decoupler and controller are simultaneously adjusted in an on-line manner. The effectiveness of this proposed method is shown by a numerical simulation. © 2014 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
