Awareness of HCV infection status and willingness for ribonucleic acid testing among hepatitis C cases in four provinces in China

Objective To analyze the awareness of HCV infection status and willingness for HCV-RNA testing among hepatitis C cases in four provinces in China and to provide a reference for adjusting HCV prevention and control strategies. Methods From September 2021 to September 2022, a cross-sectional survey was conducted using stratified random cluster sampling in four provinces (Jiangsu, Henan, Hubei, and Yunnan) in China, with an estimated sample size of 6 468 participants. The questionnaire included sociodemographic information, HCV infection awareness, willingness for HCV-RNA testing, and history of high-risk behaviors from the survey participants. Logistic regression models were used to analyze the factors associated with HCV infection awareness and willingness for HCV-RNA testing among hepatitis C cases. Statistical analysis was performed using R 4.1.3 software. Results A total of 10 563 hepatitis C cases were surveyed. The awareness rate of HCV infection was 86.74% (9 162/10 563), and the willingness rate for HCV-RNA testing was 85.21% (9 001/10 563). Multivariate logistic regression models analysis showed that the awareness rate of HCV infection was lower among individuals aged ≥60 years, urban residents (with New Rural Cooperative Medical Insurance ), those without a history of blood transfusion, those without a history of paid blood donation, those without a history of injection drug use, and those without a family member with hepatitis C *** awareness rate was higher among individuals with high or technical secondary school education, college education or above, and those married with a spouse (all P<0.05). In terms of willingness for HCV-RNA testing, it was lower among females, individuals aged ≥60 years, and those without a history of blood transfusion, paid blood donation, or injection drug use. The willingness was higher among farmers or migrant workers, employees of enterprises or institutions, and those in other occupations (all P<0.05). Conclusions There

Prevalence of psychoactive substance use and related factors in men who have unprotected sex with men in Zhejiang Province

Objective To understand the prevalence of psychoactive substance use and related factors in men who have unprotected sex with men in Zhejiang Province. Methods Men who have unprotected sex with men were recruited by snowball sampling through men who have sex with men (MSM) social organization in Zhejiang to conduct a cross-sectional investigation from January 2022 to December 2023. The sample size was estimated to be 1 169 individuals. The information about their socio-demographic information, sexual behaviors, psychoactive substance use, and HIV testing were collected through on-site questionnaire survey. Logistic regression analysis model was used to analyze related factors about psychoactive substance use in this population. Results A total of 1 914 men who have unprotected sex with men were included in the study, the average age of the study subjects was (31.43±10.46) years, and most of them were aged ≤35 years (70.8%, 1 356/1 914). Those with education level of high school or below accounted for 50.1% (960/1 914) and those who were not married accounted for 63.5% (1 216/1 914). Psychoactive substance use in the past 3 months was reported in 19.7% (377/1 914) of the subjects. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the factors associated with psychoactive substance use in the past 3 months included age 26-35 years (aOR=1.65, 95%CI: 1.24-2.19), ≥2 sexual partners in the past 3 months (aOR=2.33, 95%CI: 1.82-2.97), std diagnosed in the past 3 months (aOR=2.62, 95%CI: 1.45-4.74), and awareness of the HIV infection status of sexual partners (aOR=2.83, 95%CI: 2.12-3.78). Conclusions The prevalence of psychoactive substance use in men who have unprotected sex with men was high in Zhejiang. Modeling the impact of changing sexual behaviors with opposite-sex partners and STI testing among women and men ages 15-44 on STI diagnosis rates in the United States 2012-2019

Sexual lifestyles are closely related to overall human health and *** studies have focused on sexual lifestyles among older adults living with HIV(OALHIV),especially in low-and middle-income *** study is a part of the sexual well-being among older adults in China(SWELL)study,which is a multicenter cross-sectional study focused on sexual health among older adults aged 50 years and *** were 680 OALHIV(≥50 years old)from the SWELL study conducted from June 2020 to December *** were collected through one-on-one *** used logistic regression to assess the correlates of sexual activity and sexual *** all participants,37.1%were sexually *** older,male,in a steady relationship and employed were associated with being sexually *** prevalence of sexual satisfaction was 69.8%among sexually active *** homosexual and reporting a better general health status were associated with sexual *** OALHIV who have depressive symptoms were less likely to report sexual *** support holistic healthy aging among OALHIV,it is important for healthcare providers to be educated about the importance of enquiring about sexual activity,satisfaction and problems and addressing concerns while conveying sex-positive attitudes during clinical reviews,as these are still critical aspects of their health and well-being.

Introduction:In order to facilitate human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)treatment and prevention,the resource needs for HIV national strategic planning in developing regions were estimated based on Spectrum,the universal HIV costeffectiveness analysis ***:Based on the theoretical framework of Spectrum,the study developed a cost measurement tool for HIV,and calculated the cost of HIV prevention and control in 6 sampled cities in China during 2015–2019 using the Spectrum ***:From 2015 to 2019,the average annual costs for HIV prevention and control for Shijiazhuang,Yantai,Ningbo,Zhenjiang,Foshan,and Wuxi cities were 46.78,47.55,137.49,24.73,74.37,and 58.30 million Chinese yuan(CNY),*** per capita costs were 4.37,6.73,17.33,7.77,17.56,and 8.91 CNY,*** terms of the cost structure,the ratio of preventive intervention funds to therapeutic intervention funds(antiviral treatment)varied in sampled ***:Developing comprehensive and systematic HIV fund calculation methods can provide a research basis for rational resource allocation in the field of HIV.

Premature Stop Codon at Residue 101 within HIV-1 Rev Does Not Influence Viral Replication of Clade BC but Severely Reduces Viral Fitness of Clade B

HIV-1 Rev is an accessory protein that plays a key role in nuclear exportation,stabilization,and translation of the viral *** of HIV-1 clade BC often shows a truncation of 16 AAs due to a premature stop codon at residue *** stop codon presents the highest frequency in clade BC and the lowest frequency in clade *** order to discover the potential biological effect of this truncation on Rev activity and virus replication of clade BC,we constructed Rev expression vectors of clade BC with or without 16 AAs within C-terminal separately,and replaced the stop codon by Q in a CRF07_BC infectious *** found that 16 AAs truncation had no effect on expression and activity of Rev in clade ***,the mutation from the stop codon to Q had no effect on virus replication of clade ***,to investigate the effect of this truncation on Rev activity and replication capacity of clade B,Rev expression vectors of clade B carrying or lacking 16 AAs in C-terminal were constructed respectively,and residue Q at position 101 within Rev was substituted by the stop codon in a clade B infectious *** was found that 16 AAs truncation significantly down-regulated Rev expression and impaired clade B Rev ***,a Q-to-stop codon substitution within Rev significantly reduced viral replication fitness of clade *** results indicate that the premature stop codon at residue 101 within Rev exerts diverse impact on viral replication among different HIV-1 clades.

An online survey conducted March 18–19,2020 on the official China CDC WeChat account platform was used to evaluate the effect of public education about masks usage during the new coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** nationals older than 18 were eligible for the *** survey collected 5,761 questionnaires from the 31 provinces,municipalities,and autonomous regions of China's Mainland.99.7%and 97.2%of the respondents answered correctly that respiratory droplets and direct contact were the main transmission routes.73.3%of the respondents considered COVID-19 to be‘serious’or‘very serious’.
