This paper deals with the application of lattice wave digital filter (LWDF) (3rd and 5th order) for obtaining an efficient design of a Fractional Delay Filter (FDF). The Real Coded Genetic algorithm (RCGA) and Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) have been used in order to determine the optimal coefficient values of LWDF in order to meet the ideal frequency response characteristics. The simulation of FDF using LWDF structure improves the accuracy of design because of its excellent properties and also it needs only N number of multiplier coefficients for N~(th) order FDF. The simulation results of lattice wave digital Fractional delay filter (LWDFDF) are compared with infinite impulse response-fractional delay filter (IIR-FDF), also designed using RCGA and CSA and it is seen that LWDF based FD filter is superior to the IIR design.

In this paper, a new evolutionary optimization technique called flower pollination algorithm is employed to compute the optimal parameters of an unknown infinite impulse response (IIR) system. FPA is inspired by the pollination process of flowers. To achieve a balance between intensification and diversification phases, proper tuning of control parameter has been performed. The proposed FPA based method for system identification is free from the problems of premature convergence and suboptimal solutions encountered in conventional methods. To validate the performance of FPA based system identification, simulations has been carried out for three benchmarked IIR systems using same order system. Mean square error (MSE) and convergence profile are the performance measures used to assess the performance of the proposed method. Simulation results demonstrate that the FPA based system identification gives superior performance as compared to system identification achieved with genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO).

New voltage-controlled floating inductors employing CFOAs and an analog multiplier have been presented which have the attractive features of using a canonic number of passive components (only two resistors and a capacitor) and not requiring any component-matching conditions and design constraints for the intended type of inductance realization. The workability and applications of the new circuits have been demonstrated by SPICE simulation and hardware experimental results based upon AD844-type CFOAs and AD633-type/MPY534 type analog multipliers.

Although a variety of applications of the OTRAs have been reported in literature, the pole of the transresistance gain Rm of the OTRA has been usually considered to affect the performance of the circuits due to being parasitic. In this paper, the pole of the OTRA has been used to evolve some simple OTRA-based active-R circuits for realizing a synthetic inductor, single resistance controlled oscillator and low-pass/band-pass filter. The workability of all the proposed circuits has been verified by SPICE simulations and all the new circuits have been found to work as predicted by theory. The exemplary propositions suggest that it is worthwhile to further investigate new circuit designs using OTRA-pole.

This paper presents a novel metaheuristic algorithm called Interior Search Algorithm (ISA), which is applied for digital differentiator design problem. ISA is based on the principles of aesthetic techniques commonly used in interior design and decoration. ISA has a very quick convergence rate and only one control parameter. The approach presented here has alleviated from the problems of premature convergence, stagnation and revisiting of the same solution over and over again, which is common in other optimization techniques. Statistical and simulation results have been compared with already existing differentiator design methods such as segment rule, genetic algorithm (GA), simulated annealing (SA), pole zero method (PZ) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The results affirm that the proposed method outperforms its counterparts in terms of absolute magnitude error and phase error.

In this paper a Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) Toolkit developed in LabVIEW environment, has been presented. Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) is inspired by Grey wolves (Canis lupus). The GWO algorithm, in nature, mimics the leadership hierarchy, and the hunting mechanism of grey wolves. LabVIEW is a versatile tool for measurement and control applications and it is very popular among the industries. As Differential Evolution (DE) is the only optimization technique available in the LabVIEW environment. The developed toolkit is examined on nine benchmark functions and results are compared with DE. A step by step systematic procedure for the toolkit development and a comparative study with the existing DE toolkit results has been presented in this paper.
