Securing the routing of message in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) is still a challenging issue. This paper proposes an enhanced trust-based multipath Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol (so-called ETB-MDSR) to securely transmit messages in MANETs. Our method consists in a combination of soft-encryption, novel trust management strategy, and multipath DSR routing. Simulation results are presented to validate our proposal, showing that our ETB-MDSR scheme outperforms a recently proposed Trust-Based Multipath DSR message scheme (TB-MDSR), in terms of route selection time.

Adaptability of Conservative Staircase Scheme for Live Videos

Existing broadcasting schemes provide services for the stored videos. The basic approach in these schemes is to divide the video into segments and organize them over the channels for proper transmission. Some schemes use segments as a basic unit, whereas the others require segments to be further divided into subsegments. In a scheme, the number of segments/subsegments depends upon the bandwidth allocated to the video by the video server. For constructing segments, the video length should be known. If it is unknown, then the segments cannot be constructed and hence the scheme cannot be applied to provide the video services. This is an important issue especially in live broadcasting applications wherein the ending time of the video is unknown, for example, cricket match. In this paper, we propose a mechanism for the conservative staircase scheme so that it can support live video broadcasting.

The paper discusses about the application of PID controller and fuzzy controller in reactive distillation column. A generic mathematical model of reactive distillation has been taken for simulation. The PID and fuzzy controllers are designed for the process and then the overall process is controlled by using conventional (PID) and intelligent (fuzzy) controllers separately. Conventional PID controller is used to control the temperature of the column and then it is replaced by fuzzy controller and then the results from both the controllers are compared.

Foraging Behavior in Ant Swarms can be very helpful when applied to the protocols in Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs). When the Ant Colony Optimization Scheme (ACO) is applied to a protocol, larger number of paths are generated from the source to destination which helps in improving the packet delivery ratio because an alternate back up path is always available in case a path gets broken due to the mobile nodes. In this paper, we apply the ACO scheme on an already existing Energy efficient protocol Conditional Max-Min Battery Capacity Routing (CMMBCR) (C.-K. Toh, 2001). The CMMBCR not only takes care of the total transmission energy in the network but also the residual battery capacity of the nodes. Hence applying ACO scheme on CMMBCR makes it more efficient in terms of energy, packet delivery ratio etc. The efficiency of our proposed protocol A-CMMBCR is then established by comparing it with some of the other existing Energy aware protocols such as Energy-Aware Routing protocol (EAAR) (Dhurandher et al., 2009), Minimum Transmission Power Routing (MTPR) (Scott and Bambos, 1996) and CMMBCR. The results are captured in the form of a graphical format.

This paper deals with the study of effect of fractional operators in chaotic systems. Chaos means randomness and irregularity. Some of the typical features of chaos are non-linearity, determinism, sensitivity to initial conditions and irregularity. In this paper, three s-to-z transformations viz. Tustin, Al-Alaoui and Maneesha-Pragya-Visweswaran operators have been used to obtain integer order approximations of fractional integrators in z-domain. The stability of the proposed models has been investigated. These discretizations can be applied for analysis of fractional order Chua systems. A comparison with the existing approximations is also presented. The major purpose of the paper is to emphasize that the z-domain approximations proposed in this paper can be used for hardware realizations. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper attempts to find the rational approximation of fractional order differentiators and integrators and their discretized transfer functions by using continued fraction expansion (CFE) based indirect discretization scheme. Schnieder 2nd order rule and Alalaoui,s 2- segment rule[16] are considered for indirect discretization approach and differentiators and integrators of order 1/2 and 1/4 based on these two rules are presented. The rational transfer functions are first tested for minimum phase and stability then the resultant rational approximations are discretized by using s to z transforms [1]. These discretized transfer functions are checked for stability again after performing approximation process. Simulation resultant curves are drawn with the help of MATLAB for the magnitude responses, absolute magnitude errors and the phase responses of the stabilized discrete transfer functions. These curves are then compared with each other and the corresponding ideal characteristics of differentiators and integrators.

In recent time, Internet or network services has gain popularity due to rapid growth in information and telecommunication technologies. Internet or network services become the mean for finance management, education, and global information service center for news, advertisements and many others. Denial of service attack and most particularly the distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) is most common and harmful threat to the Internet or network services. In order to design and develop reliable and secure network services, rapid detection and quick response to these attacks are major concern. In practice, there is no scheme that completely detects or prevents the DDoS attack. Predicting number of zombies in a DDoS attack is helpful to suppress the effect of DDoS attack by filtering and rate limiting the most suspicious attack sources or improve DDoS response system. In this paper, we present machine learning approach based on support vector machine for regression to predict the number of zombies in a DDoS attack. MATLAB implementation of support vector machine for regression and datasets generated using NS-2 network simulators running on Linux platform are used for training and testing. SVM for regression with various kernel function and other parameters are compared for their prediction performance using mean square error (MSE). Results show SVM based scheme have promising prediction performance for small dataset. © 2011 IEEE.

Microarray is a potential tool to explore information inside *** simultaneously monitoring the expression levels of thousands of genes under specified experimental conditions and using clustering and statistical signal processing techniques on these expression levels it is possible to classify biological specimens(***).However,a prime limitation of microarray data used for analytics and extrapolation is the presence of *** present a novel method utilizing the 2D MUSIC Algorithm for denoising,representation and classification of microarray *** 2D MUSIC algorithm is a frequency estimation technique that separates the high dimensional microarray data into a signal and a noise subspace. It is therefore possible to extract the complex frequency components of a signal in presence of *** algorithm was implemented on a publicly available microarray dataset of lung epithelial cells of smokers with and without cancer. Further,a difference frequency estimator function was used to train an eigenvector based classification tool to distinguish between the microarray data from smokers with and without *** application of this 2D MUSIC Algorithm to the input dataset containing variegated distribution of normal and diseased samples,it was possible to distinguish discernibly between cancerous and non-cancerous samples with good *** technique has potential applications for prognosis and treatment of cancer.

Information retrieval and extraction essentially rely on estimating the relevance of words present in a large corpus of documents or text. One of the approaches to measuring relevance is analyzing the importance of words based on their statistical distribution within a document. Quite another approach ensues from their linguistic relevance within a logically perceived context. Literature presents a body of work done employing both statistical as well as contextual approaches. The challenge currently is on enhancing the performance of document analysis and clustering systems. Ever since we witnessed a massive explosion of information and raw data available on the web, their analysis demands more rigorous computations and processing. Given the widely distributed environment as a backbone platform for these systems to operate, there is an urgent need to develop techniques to scale up their performance on multiple processors. We propose a parallelized strategy to estimate the statistical as well as contextual relevance of words, employing master-slave configuration on a cluster of processors. Our parallel algorithm has been successfully tested on a self-made Beowulf cluster comprising ten nodes, showing significant performance improvement over single processor implementation, following Amdahl's speedup law.
