Document Quality Analysis is one of the most prominent areas of interest these days. It is used for managing of huge number of documents, detection of fraud document, recognizing identity documents etc. A lot of work has been done in the areas of coloured photograph recognition, improving the quality of documents and printing technology. However, to the best of our knowledge no work has been done to recognize the dot matrix prints from other high quality prints using principle component analysis. This is useful for automatically recognizing the text on a certain print. Post the detection of the quality of the print, recognition of the text can be easily done using specific algorithm for each quality. In this paper, the above objective is achieved by applying principle component analysis before and after smearing of the text on a particular print and then classifying it into dot matrix or non-dot matrix print. Moreover, this approach has also been compared with prior works related to classification and detection of print quality.

This paper deals with continued fraction expansion (CFE) based indirect discretization scheme for finding the rational approximation of fractional order differentiators and integrators and their discretized transfer functions. Indirect discretization approach is used for Al-Alaoui's Optimized four segment rule and Simpson 1/3 rule based differentiators and integrators of order ½ and ¼. These rational transfer functions are first stabilized for minimum phase then the resultant rational approximation is discretized by using s to z transforms. The curves for their magnitude responses, absolute magnitude errors and the phase responses are drawn with the help of MATLAB. These curves are then compared with ideal characteristics of differentiators and integrators.

The paper presents new realization of grounded and floating capacitance multiplier circuits using tunable four-terminal floating nullors (TFTFNs). The resulting capacitance value is electronically tunable by means of two bias currents. The grounded capacitance multiplier uses one TFTFN and one grounded capacitor and the floating capacitance multipliers use two TFTFNs and one capacitor. The parasitic impedance effects on the proposed circuit are investigated. PSPICE simulation results are included which verify the workability of the proposed circuits.

The past few years have observed vehicular networks becoming increasingly important in order to exchange information between stationary or moving vehicles. The information exchanged can range from warning messages in case of accidents that have occurred on the road and traffic jams to guiding the vehicles about the most efficient path to reach their destination. The biggest challenge, a vehicular network routing protocol faces, is providing a stable packet delivery mechanism. The proposed PMH protocol aims at providing a high packet delivery ratio by selecting each next node (vehicle) in the path from the source to the destination based on a parameter called the Disconnection Probability Metric (DPM). The DPM mainly represents the link breakage probability between nodes and the node with the least DPM is selected as the next node. Moreover, the PMH protocol also calculates the predicted link lifetime based on which it initiates the route selection algorithm before the weakest link actually breaks. This mechanism further enhances the usefulness of the algorithm as there is lesser control overhead to overcome link breakage.

This paper proposes a Friend-based security scheme for efficient routing in mobile ad hoc networks. The idea behind this technique is the establishment of friend networks in the same way as the formation of friends in real life scenarios. The algorithm provides authentication of nodes by sending challenges and creating friend lists of nodes that complete the challenge. Friends are rated on the basis of the amount of data they transfer through themselves and according to the rating of other friends, which is obtained during the friend list sharing process. The data is finally routed through the route with the greatest number of trusted friends. One of the greatest advantages of this technique is that the nodes do not need to work in the promiscuous mode. The information about the malicious nodes is gathered effectively by using challenges. This reduces the overhead on the network significantly. Through various simulation experiments it has been found that the proposed algorithm works very efficiently in terms of detecting the malicious nodes and also allowing lesser number of packets to be routed through these detected malicious nodes.

This article presents a voltage-mode universal biquadratic filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass functions), based on current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (CCCCTAs). The features of the circuit are that: the quality factor and pole frequency can be tuned orthogonally via the input bias currents: the circuit description is very simple, consisting of merely 3 CCCCTAs and 2 grounded capacitors. Without any external resistors, requiring no component matching conditions, and using only grounded elements, the proposed circuit is very appropriate to further develop into an integrated circuit. Moreover, the proposed circuit enables easy cascading in voltage-mode, due to high-input impedances. The PSPICE simulation results are depicted. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation. The power consumption is approximately 4.08mW at ±2.5V power supply voltages.

This paper reports the work on EDM with SiC abrasive powder-mixed dielectric, a hybrid process. The machining of 6061Al/ Al2O 3p/20p work specimens has been carried out with copper electrode. An L18 orthogonal array (OA) was employed for the optimisation of the performance measures such as material removal rate and surface roughness. The effects of seven control factors (three levels each) and a noise factor (two level), and one two-variable interactions on the responses were quantitatively evaluated by the Lenth's method. Analysed results indicate that the process effectively improves the MRR and reduces the surface roughness, in comparison with the conventional EDM. Copyright © 2010 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

This paper presents a novel technique of obtaining the Region of Interest (ROI) which is square-shaped. After palm print segmentation, we perform texture feature extraction using Local Binary Pattern (LBP) based on the directional gradient response. With the feature vectors so obtained we perform matching using Support vector machines (SVM) and also using the Chi-square distance measurement. The experimental results presented in this paper show significant improvement in the performance of the biometric system with a combination of LBP and SVM.

Biometrics has carved an important place in the field of identification and authentication. Identification in biometrics includes various applications like face recognition. There are scads of work done in the area of face recognition but we feel that there is not much of work has been done in the field of age determination. The age determination technique is useful to determine the age of an unknown body found in criminal activities or in lost and found cases using offline face recognition. The aging process not only depends on the person's biological aspect such as genes but may also depend on physical aspect such as wrinkles on the person's face. In this paper a novel technique is proposed to determine the age of a person by analysing the wrinkles present on his/her face. A framework has been designed which is based on the principle that the age of a person varies proportionally with the depth of wrinkles. The experimental result obtained found out to have 20% error which is within practical limits.
