Due to rapid advancement in multimedia communication a growing need emerges for the implementation of audio algorithm in real time. Filters are often used in digital signal processing applications. The filters fast processing is usually done on DSP chips. The calculation of the DSP operations like multiplication and accumulation (MAC) and convolution should be fast enough so that the audio can be heard in real time. In this paper we take up a post processing algorithm for audio that is used to control the bass and treble. For this purpose first order IIR filter is employed. This filter is used due to low computational burden that it places on DSP resources. The method that is presented here is based on transforming a prototype analog filter to the desired digital filter using the technique of bilinear transformation for mapping the poles and zeros in digital domain. The calculated coefficients are used for implementation of audio algorithm for ARM7TDMI. Implemented code is optimized for the real time operations. The analysis is done in MATLAB for showing the effect of treble and bass for different frequencies. The filter mapped in digital domain is stable.

Routing in ad-hoc networks can consume considerable amount of battery power. However, as the nodes in these networks have limited power, routing is very much energy-constrained. Continuous drainage of energy degrades battery performance as well. If a battery is allowed to intermittently remain in an idle state, it recovers some of its lost charge due to the charge recovery effect, which, in turn, results in prolonged battery life. In this paper, we use the ideas of naturally occurring ants' foraging behavior and based on those ideas we design an energy-aware routing protocol, which not only incorporates the effect of power consumption in routing a packet, but also exploits the multi-path transmission properties of ant swarms and, hence, increases the battery life of a node. The efficiency of the protocol with respect to some of the existing ones has been established through simulations.

The Gnutella protocol of peer-to-peer (P2P) networks has undergone several changes since its inception in the beginning of this century. However, despite the large number of revisions to the original version of the protocol, Gnutella suffers from serious problems of dead searches, complexity in study of network topology and network overloading. In this paper, we report the development of a new P2P simulator, PeerNS, which was built to study different problems of P2P networks and Gnutella, including those mentioned above. PeerNS works on actual P2P network statistics and, hence, it is very close to the real scenario. Moreover, we also discuss the implementation and the integration issues involved in using PeerNS to simulate our crawling-based algorithm, which could minimize the number of dead searches in the network and enhance the availability of information across the network.

In this paper, we address some of the problems such as dead searches, complexity in the study of network topology and network overloading that are associated with Gnutella and Gnutella-like peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. We use advanced heuristic parameters with information shuffling as a solution for them. We propose an advancement of Gnutella using the above-mentioned schemes. At a panoramic level, our work is founded on the following concepts: (a) Crawling the P2P networks to shuffle information, so that the knowledge is distributed over the whole network, and (b) Bringing the information within searchable hops of each network. These have been verified on a self-built P2P simulator, named PeerNS, which works on actual P2P network statistics and is, hence, very close to the actual scenario. The results obtained through simulation affirm that the nodes with extremely large number of dead searches benefit the most and are observed to have a sharp decrease in their dead search count after crawling a small part of the overall network.

Recently a new formulation for realizing a floating inductance (FI) using an OMA (operational mirrored amplifier), which takes into account the dominant pole of the op-amp employed in the OMA, without requiring any external capacitor was proposed. The proposition, however, suffered from a limited input-dynamic-range of operation owing to limited open-loop signal handling capability of the op-amp used. In this paper we propose an improved FI formulation with increased input signal handling capability. The electronically controllable floating inductance feature of the resulting circuit has been shown by replacing all the building blocks of the FI formulation by their CMOS counterparts. The workability of the proposed FI has been demonstrated by PSPICE simulations.

Analysis of a rectangular waveguide using finite element method

The characteristics impedance of the fundamental mode in a rectangular waveguide is computed using finite element method. The method is validated by comparison with the theoretical results. In addition to this, we have considered the problem of determining the modes of propagation of electromagnetic waves in a rectangular waveguide for the simple homogeneous dielectric case. The starting point is Maxwell’s equations with an assumed exponential dependence of the fields on the Z-coordinates. From these equations we have arrived at the Helmholtz equation for the homogeneous case. Finite-element-method has been used to derive approximate values of the possible propagation constant for each frequency. © 2018, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

In general transformations across models need to be defined for every different pair of models for engineering transformational methods. In this paper we formulate a systematic, computer supported generic technique of performing transformation across models. We formalize the transformation technique by using the graph theoretic notion of isomorphism. Model concepts are organized in an is built of method graph. The generation technique is used to establish isomorphism between the concepts of the two graphs by generating nodes and edges by duplication. This technique produces feasible mappings, which can be presented to the method engineer for subsequent fine-tuning. Further, these model mappings are used to generate the purposes and dependencies for a decisional Meta model for a transformational method.

Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETS) are characterized by random, multi-hop topologies that do not have a centralized coordinating entity or a fixed infrastructure that may change rapidly over time. In addition, mobile nodes operate with portable and finite power sources. In this work, we propose an energy-efficient metric for MANETs to minimize energy consumption and increase the network's consistency. Earlier works mainly focused on the shortest path method to minimize energy, which might result into network failure because some nodes might exhaust fast as they are used repetitively, while some other nodes might not be used at all. This can lead to energy imbalance and to network life reduction. We propose an Energy Efficient Ad-Hoc On-Demand Routing (EEAODR) algorithm that balances energy load among nodes so that a minimum energy level is maintained among nodes and the network life is increased. We focused on increasing the network longevity by distributing energy consumption in the network. We also compared the simulation results with a popular previously proposed on-demand routing protocol in this area, AODV [1], to show the usefulness of our algorithm. © 2008 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider the problem of location updating in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). We propose a node stability-based location updating approach. In order to optimize the routing, most of the existing routing algorithms use some mechanism for determining the nodes' neighbours. This information is stored in a table called the neighbour table. The updating of the neighbour table is referred to as location updating. Preliminary set of results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms the typical algorithm used for location updating in existing algorithms.
