This paper is concerned with the H_∞ consensus control problem in undirected networks of autonomous agents with nonlinear dynamics, subject to parameter uncertainties and external disturbances. With the consideration of time-varying delays arising from communication among agents, a distributed protocol is proposed using the local delayed state information. Then, by defining an appropriate controlled output function, the consensus problem under the proposed protocol is converted into an H_∞ control problem. Based on robust H_∞ theory, sufficient conditions are derived to make all agents achieve consensus with desired H_∞ performance. Moreover, the feedback matrix in the proposed protocol is determined by solving two linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) with the same dimensions as a single agent. Finally, a numerical simulation is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

In this paper, an adaptive output feedback tracking control scheme is proposed for spacecraft formation flying (SFF) in the presence of external disturbances, uncertain system parameters, input constraints and partial loss of control effectiveness. The proposed controller incorporates a pseudo-velocity filter to account for the unmeasured relative velocity, and the neural network (NN) technique is implemented to approximate the desired nonlinear function and bounded external disturbances. In order to guarantee that the output of the NN used in the controller is bounded by the corresponding bound of the approximated nonlinear function, a switch function is employed to generate a switching between the adaptive NN control and the robust controller. Moreover, a fault tolerant part is included in the controller to compensate the partial loss of actuator effectiveness fault. It is shown that the derived controller not only guarantees the tracking error in the closed-loop system to be uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) but also ensures the control input can rigorously enforce actuator magnitude constraints. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Considered cryptosystems such as Cardano square lattices are characterized by the high-speed encryption in use today Enhanced Programming computers. This is because the number of different variants rapidly increases with the size of a square. In this paper we have shown that, for the size of 20 x 20, the number of such grids exceeds the number of 1.6 × 260 Therefore, these systems have sufficient cryptographic resistance. Application of these systems in conjunction with substitution cipher can still more resist cryptographic attacks. © 2013 IEEE.

The number of Android malware is increasing with the growth of Android, so there needs to have a method to classify malware families. There are many classification methods proposed so far, but most of them are based on permission information such as the number of requested permissions and critical permissions. Since permission information cannot represent actual application behaviors and permissions are easily separated into several communicating applications, the permission based classification methods can result in false alarms. Opposed to these permission based methods, our classification method is based on applications' Bytecode that contains actual application behaviors. Each malicious application family may have some similar Bytecode and can be classified using this information. In this paper, we propose a method to classify malware families from known malware, as a pre-step of malware detection. © 2013 Authors.

This paper proposes a method to calculate similarities of software without any source code information. The proposed method can be used for various applications such as detecting the source code theft and copyright infringement, as well as locating updated parts of software including malware. To determine the similarities of software, we used an approach that matches similar functions included in software. Our function-based matching process is composed of two steps. In step 1, the structural information of call graph in binary file is used to match functions, and the matched functions are not processed in step 2 to reduce the number of detailed matching. In step 2, by using instruction mnemonics, N-gram similarity-based matching is performed. Using the structural matching proposed in this paper, about 30% improvement in the matching performance is achieved with the four-tuple matching which also reduces the false positive rate compared to previous studies. Our other experimental results showed that, in comparison to source code-based approaches, our proposed method has only about 3% difference in similarity calculation with real software samples. Therefore, we argue that our proposed method makes a contribution in the field of binary-based software similarity calculation. © 2013 ACM.

The automotive industry is going through a major transition where all of the main car OEMs (original equipment manufacturer) are putting serious efforts toward self-driving vehicles, and some of the OEMs have the vision to sell fully functional driver-less car by 2020. software is the primary driving force for implementing different functionalities of today's cyber-physical systems. Being a safety critical system, functionalities of an autonomous vehicle need to be rigorously tested in different driving conditions, for example, weather, traffic, road markings, etc. In order to get early feedback on the implemented functionalities, testing in the simulation environment has become common before testing them on the prototype vehicle. This paper presents an approach to reduce the testing time in the simulation environment by parallelly executing the loosely coupled segments of a test scenario. Reducing simulation testing time is also substantial when we need to run regression test scenarios following changes in the implementation. The preliminary investigation shows that by applying the proposed concept, we can significantly reduce the simulation testing time both in the cases of successful and failed run.

With the advent of smartphones, mobile-devices have evolved as powerful mini-computers. However, they still suffer from two intrinsic shortcomings, namely limited battery-power and inferior processors compared to their laptop counterparts. Several approaches based on cloud-computing have been suggested in the past to augment the performance of mobile devices and overcome these shortcomings. The utility of these approaches is demarcated by the maximum bandwidth and minimum latency that could be achieved in a cloud over the Internet. In this paper we propose MOCLO, a framework that operates upon locally-installed cloud called MOCLETS which is free from majority of shortcomings present in other Internet based cyber-foraging models. The paper also outlines the optimal architecture of mobile-applications to gain maximum benefit from MOCLO. A proof-of-concept prototype of MOCLO has also been implemented. Results have shown significant decrease in battery consumption and processing time of mobile applications leveraging MOCLO APIs. We also outline the significant cyber foraging frameworks proposed so far and where MOCLO stands in comparison to them. Towards the end we discuss the limitations of MOCLO and scalability issues and consider possible solutions for the same. © 2013 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose SocioPhone, a novel initiative to build a mobile platform for face-to-face interaction monitoring. Face-to-face interaction, especially conversation, is a fundamental part of everyday life. Interaction-aware applications aimed at facilitating group conversations have been proposed, but have not proliferated yet. Useful contexts to capture and support face-to-face interactions need to be explored more deeply. More important, recognizing delicate conversational contexts with commodity mobile devices requires solving a number of technical challenges. As a first step to address such challenges, we identify useful meta-linguistic contexts of conversation, such as turn-takings, prosodic features, a dominant participant, and pace. These serve as cornerstones for building a variety of interaction-aware applications. SocioPhone abstracts such useful meta-linguistic contexts as a set of intuitive APIs. Its runtime efficiently monitors registered contexts during in-progress conversations and notifies applications on-the-fly. Importantly, we have noticed that online turn monitoring is the basic building block for extracting diverse meta-linguistic contexts, and have devised a novel volume-topography-based method. We show the usefulness of SocioPhone with several interesting applications: SocioTherapist, SocioDigest, and Tug-of-War. Also, we show that our turnmonitoring technique is highly accurate and energy-efficient under diverse real-life situations. Copyright 2013 ACM.

In a shotgun proteomics experiment, proteins are the most biologically meaningful output. The success of proteomics studies depends on the ability to accurately and efficiently identify proteins. Many methods have been proposed to facilitate the identification of proteins from the results of peptide identification. However, the relationship between protein identification and peptide identification has not been thoroughly explained before. In this talk, we provide a combinatorial perspective of the protein inference problem. We employ combinatorial mathematics to calculate the conditional protein probabilities under three assumptions, which lead to a lower bound, an upper bound and an empirical estimation of protein probabilities, respectively. The combinatorial perspective enables us to obtain a closed-form formulation for protein inference. Our method achieves competitive results with ProteinProphet in a more efficient manner in the experiment based on two datasets of standard protein mixtures and two datasets of real samples.
