This paper investigates privacy issues in distributed resource allocation over directed networks, where each agent holds a private cost function and optimizes its decision subject to a global coupling constraint through local interaction with other agents. Conventional methods for resource allocation over directed networks require all agents to transmit their original data to neighbors, which poses the risk of disclosing sensitive and private information. To address this issue, we propose an algorithm called differentially private dual gradient tracking (DP-DGT) for distributed resource allocation, which obfuscates the exchanged messages using independent Laplacian noise. Our algorithm ensures that the agents’ decisions converge to a neighborhood of the optimal solution almost surely. Furthermore, without the assumption of bounded gradients, we prove that the cumulative differential privacy loss under the proposed algorithm is finite even when the number of iterations goes to infinity. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to simultaneously achieve these two goals in distributed resource allocation problems over directed networks. Finally, numerical simulations on economic dispatch problems within the IEEE 14-bus system illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper centers on applying and advancing Embedding models within open-source software for cross-project vulnerability detection. It reviews relevant studies and delves into how Embedding technology captures open-source software features from multiple angles, such as code structure, community activity, and developer behavior. By transforming high-dimensional sparse data into low-dimensional dense vectors, it enhances the accuracy and reliability of feature representation. Moreover, it comprehensively examines the strengths, limitations, and future research directions of current methods, aiming to offer comprehensive theoretical and practical guidance for the intelligent analysis and security enhancement of open-source software.

A coupled system of volume integral and two-fluid hydrodynamic equations is solved to analyze electromagnetic field interactions with non-local dispersion effects on semiconductor nanostructures. This coupled system, where the hydrodynamic currents and the electric flux are the unknowns, is discretized using Schaubert-Wilton-Glisson basis functions. Numerical results obtained using this solver show the presence of so-called acoustic modes at the frequencies lower than the resonance frequency of localized surface plasmon (LSP) mode. These modes cannot be identified if a Drude-like model or the single-fluid hydrodynamic equation is used to represent the electrical properties of the semiconductors. © 2022 IEEE.

CrackMamba, a novel Mamba-based model, is designed for efficient and accurate crack segmentation in infrastructure’s structural health monitoring effort. Traditional CNN models struggle with limited receptive fields, and while Vision Transformers (ViT) improve segmentation accuracy, they are computationally intensive. CrackMamba addresses these challenges by utilizing the VMambaV2 with pre-trained ImageNet-1k weights as the encoder and a newly designed decoder for better performance. To handle the random and complex nature of crack development, a Snake Scan module is proposed to reshape crack feature sequences, enhancing feature extraction. Additionally, the three-branch Snake Conv VSS (SCVSS) block is proposed to target cracks more effectively. Experiments show that CrackMamba achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance on the CrackSeg9k and SewerCrack datasets, and demonstrates competitive performance on the retinal vessel segmentation dataset CHASE_DB1, highlighting its generalization capability. © 2024, The Authors. Computing-in-memory (CIM) may offer a power-efficient solution to the acceleration of major workloads for memory-bound deep neural networks given memory and processing units on the same die, particularly, when incorporating the processing units into the memory domains. Further, CIM macros utilizing nonvolatile memory with multibit data significantly boost their data density and realize zero standby power by gating power when idle. Ferroelectric Field-Effect-Transistor (FeFET) is a leading contender for this type of CIM. In this work, we designed mixed signal CIM macros based on FeFETs and identified their optimal performance with the size of a sub-array (n M × n w ) addressed at one cycle, where n w is the number of FeFETs representing a single w-bit weight. The simulations performed identified the optimal sub-array $n_M^{\ast} \times w/2$ for w-bit weights with different $n_M^{\ast}$ (i.e., parallelism) for different weight resolution w, which highlights a ∼29× improvement in figure of merit for 8-bit weights compared with the case of no weight-splitting (n w = 1).

The sensitive structures of certain devices containing micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) must be directly exposed to the working environment, making them vulnerable to contamination by dust and other pollutants in that environment. Consequently, this contamination degrades the performance of the device, impacting both its working life and stability. Existing test methods, such as GB/T 4208-2017 and GB/T 2423.37-2006, are not entirely suitable for evaluating the sand and dust contamination test of these MEMS devices. To address these issues, a thermistor-based test structure was designed and processed to develop an evaluation method suitable for testing the sand and dust contamination sensitive MEMS structures. The test results indicate that, unlike other hermetically sealed electronic devices, the imposition of electrical stress and cycling of the operating voltage "on-off" during the test does not increase dust accumulation. Furthermore, due to sand and dust contamination, the thermistor value of the device drifts during operation. This drift primarily arises from increased thermal resistance between the heating element of the device and the surrounding environment, resulting from the accumulation of sand and dust, which results in the increase of temperature of the heating element and ultimately results in an elevated thermistor value. This study can provide support for the structural design and package design of MEMS sensitive structures, and provide a basis for the identification and inspection of related products and the development of detailed specifications. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-label Sewer Pipe Defect Recognition with Mask Attention Feature Enhancement and Label Correlation Learning

The coexistence of multiple defect categories as well as the substantial class imbalance problem significantly impair the detection of sewer pipeline defects. To solve this problem, a multi-label pipe defect recognition method is proposed based on mask attention guided feature enhancement and label correlation learning. The proposed method can achieve current approximate state-of-the-art classification performance using just 1/16 of the Sewer-ML training dataset and exceeds the current best method by 11.87% in terms of F2 metric on the full dataset, while also proving the superiority of the model. The major contribution of this study is the development of a more efficient model for identifying and locating multiple defects in sewer pipe images for a more accurate sewer pipeline condition assessment. Moreover, by employing class activation maps, our method can accurately pinpoint multiple defect categories in the image which demonstrates a strong model interpretability. We proposed a Client Server Based Plastic Fiber Optic Network for an Elderly Support system in a smart home environment. The network will incorporate multimodal dialogue systems (MDS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. Existing AI models like GPT and Vicuna will be used and further trained to support the elderly in a smart home. The MDS systems, Whisper and Lavis, will act as intermediaries between the POF network of sensors and the AI systems. The systems will convert video and audio files into information that the AI systems can process and respond to. The POF network, consisting of sensors and a client-server architecture, will serve as the system's backbone. Its primary purpose is to gather data for the AI system and act based on its output. This research aims to enhance the safety, well-being, and independence of the elderly by leveraging advanced network technologies.

Against a backdrop of massive population growth, the supply of essential urban services, such as water and power, in developing countries is not growing at nearly the same pace. The critical aspects of this urban development are poorly understood. The main objective of this study was to identify and analyze the different forms of governance in the water and electricity sectors in developing countries based on the existing literature. The synthesis of several studies shows that there is not one mode of governance that fits every time and place. In most cases, municipal authority involves the private sector in water and electricity management. In many countries that have liberalized electricity generation, regulation of municipal utilities is being reformed through the introduction of incentive regulation models. Engaging the population through anti-corruption campaigns is an effective way to improve governance. Given the cost of expanding the conventional power grid, solar PV has proven to be a safe and sustainable way to power urban and peri-urban districts. However, success in promoting this energy source lies in the involvement of the national and/or provincial government through incentive measures. We conclude that the governance of water and electricity in developing countries is successful when the following criteria are applied: decentralization, liberalization, public–private partnerships and community involvement. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
