In order to miniaturize ion accelerators for MeV-class ions suitable for fusion or ion implantation, high RF voltages of 1-5 kV at RF frequencies of 10-15 MHz are required. In this paper, we present a piezoelectric transformer (PT) design that can be integrated into PCBs that can be assembled into ion accelerator assemblies. The PT designs utilize vibrational mode shapes and multilayer piezoelectric plate stacking, with the secondary side plates further segmented, connected in series to develop higher voltages into a capacitive load of the ion to fabricate the transformers, making them compatible with PCB accelerators. PZT-841 plates were used as piezoelectric material, and a high-Q fused quartz plates served as an electrical insulator while mechanically coupling mechanical motion between the primary and secondary PZT plates. An open-circuit voltage gain of 5.2 at 7.9 MHz was achieved from a prototype with a planar form factor of 0.9 mm and an area of 6x5 mm2 © 2023 IEEE.

We consider two optimization problems of approximating a convex polygon, one by a largest inscribed histogon and the other by a smallest circumscribed histogon. An axis-aligned histogon is an axis-aligned rectilinear polygon such that every horizontal edge has an integer length. A histogon of orientation θ is a copy of an axis-aligned histogon rotated by θ in counterclockwise direction. The goal is to find a largest inscribed histogon and a smallest circumscribed histogon over all orientations in [0, π). Depending on whether the horizontal width of a histogon is predetermined or not, we consider several different versions of the problem and present exact algorithms. Plant leaves represent valuable raw materials for fabric production, offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional textiles. Converting these leaves into fibers opens opportunities for versatile textile applications. Traditionally, fabric classification relied heavily on manual, time-consuming microscopic analysis of fiber composition and texture, imposing limitations on efficiency and scalability. To address this challenge, the researchers developed a robust computer Vision System on Raspberry Pi, capable of accurately classifying cotton, pineapple, and pineapple-cotton fabrics. Leveraging the powerful machine learning libraries, Tensorflow and Keras, the researchers utilized the VGG16 model, training and fine-tuning it for specialized fabric classification tasks. Notably, the VGG16 model came pretrained with weights from the ImageNet dataset, further enhancing its performance. The dataset comprised 300 images, with equal representation from cotton, pineapple, and cotton-pineapple blend fabrics. These images underwent comprehensive image pre-preprocessing, utilizing techniques such as flipping, adjusting brightness and contrast, and color augmentation. The results of this study are highly promising, with the system achieving an impressive overall accuracy rate of 91.11%. This research not only showcases the system's proficiency in fabric classification but also highlights its potential for practical applications in real-world fabric classification scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

Rapid improvement in industrialization and urbanization leads to various impacts on environmental conditions. This leads to a rise in pollution that causes various constraints on human health. Earlier prediction and maintenance of pollution is the solution to obtain a greener ecosystem. This is done through machine learning techniques adopting the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things helps to obtain a smarter environment through real-time monitoring with the control system. Thus machine learning helps to analyze the amount of toxic substances that are emitted from the industries and recorded periodically. They are represented as online controlling and monitoring systems. The sensors and actuators with control devices are used to record the external environmental conditions. The prior intimation of the healthcare is monitored appropriately and intimated to solve earlier. The classification and detection of infections and diseases are done through image processing techniques. Thus the proposed system helps to obtain automatic detection of healthcare and pollution detection systems through machine learning with computational systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Paradigm shift of large satellite to small satellite can be seen in last few decades due to highly increase in applications of small satellites. Due to the revolutionary growth in the technology and availability of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) product, it is possible to produce very small but powerful hardware components which are capable of surviving in the dynamic conditions of outer space. However, this is quite challenging task to deploy these small satellites in the harsh space environment. Recent research has shown that large natural language processing (NLP) models have been vulnerable to a security threat called backdoor attacks. The current privately-triggered backdoor attack achieves the attack target by modifying the label of the poisoned data to a specified label. Still, the result often ignores the consistency of the sample semantics and the label, thus failing to achieve stealthy attacks on system users and system deployers. To address this issue, we use human-written text perturbations, which are less likely to be detected as machine-manipulation and removed by defense systems, as a backdoor trigger and apply a mild adversarial perturbation to the poisoned samples before implanting the backdoor, thereby addressing the semantic inconsistency caused by modifying the labels of the poisoned data. Furthermore, we use learnable backdoor triggers to improve the stealth of backdoor attacks while avoiding the conflict between textual adversarial perturbations and backdoor implantation. Experiments show that our attack achieves close to 100% attack success rates on SST-2, OLID and AG's News datasets without affecting the utility of existing NLP models. © 2023 IEEE.

In challenging operational environments such as underground buildings beneath roadways, reliability and performance of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicles (EVs) heavily hinge on the operating temperature of the magnetic couplers. Addressing this, this study introduces a novel approach employing heat sink and thermoelectric cooler technologies to mitigate temperature rise in magnetic couplers, which is particularly crucial for high-power applications. Utilizing ANSYS simulation, the study evaluates a WPT high-power application coil model with a total output power of 2 KW and an 18 cm air gap, with a 3.5 cm adjacent alignment to enhance thermal performance on both transmitter and receiver sides. Results demonstrate significant thermal enhancement, reducing the temperature of coils from 63◦ C to 54◦ C solely with the heat sink and further down to 48◦ C with the combined implementation of both heat sink and thermoelectric cooler. These measures effectively dissipate heat from the coils into the surrounding air, ensuring system efficiency and stability while facilitating functionality of system components. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. aXonica: A support package for MRI based Neuroimaging

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) assists in studying the nervous system. MRI scans undergo significant processing before presenting the final images to medical practitioners. These processes are executed with ease due to excellent software pipelines. However, establishing software workstations is non-trivial and requires researchers in life sciences to be comfortable in downloading, installing, and scripting software that is non-user-friendly and may lack basic GUI. As researchers struggle with these skills, there is a dire need to develop software packages that can automatically install software pipelines speeding up building software workstations and laboratories. Previous solutions include NeuroDebian, BIDS Apps, Flywheel, QMENTA, Boutiques, Brainlife and Neurodesk. Overall, all these solutions complement each other. NeuroDebian covers neuroscience and has a wider scope, providing only 51 tools for MRI. Whereas, BIDS Apps is committed to the BIDS format, covering only 45 software related to MRI. Boutiques is more flexible, facilitating its pipelines to be easily installed as separate containers, validated, published, and executed. Whereas, both Flywheel and Qmenta are propriety, leaving four for users looking for ‘free for use’ tools, i.e., NeuroDebian, Brainlife, Neurodesk, and BIDS Apps. This paper presents an extensive survey of 317 tools published in MRI-based neuroimaging in the last ten years, along with ‘aXonica,’ an MRI-based neuroimaging support package that is unbiased towards any formatting standards and provides 130 applications, more than that of NeuroDebian (51), BIDS App (45), Flywheel (70), and Neurodesk (85). Using a technology stack that employs GUI as the front-end and shell scripted back-end, aXonica provides (i) 130 tools that span the entire MRI-based neuroimaging analysis, and allow the user to (ii) select the software of their choice, (iii) automatically resolve individual dependencies and (iv) installs them. Sputum smear tests are critical for the diagnosis of respiratory diseases. Automatic segmentation of bacteria from spu-tum smear images is important for improving diagnostic efficiency. However, this remains a challenging task owing to the high interclass similarity among different categories of bacteria and the low contrast of the bacterial edges. To explore more levels of global pattern features to promote the distinguishing ability of bacterial categories and main-tain sufficient local fine-grained features to ensure accurate localization of ambiguous bacteria simultaneously, we propose a novel dual-branch deformable cross-attention fusion network (DB-DCAFN) for accurate bacterial segmen-tation. Specifically, we first designed a dual-branch encoder consisting of multiple convolution and transformer blocks in parallel to simultaneously extract multilevel local and global features. We then designed a sparse and deformable cross-attention module to capture the semantic dependencies between local and global features, which can bridge the semantic gap and fuse features effectively. Furthermore, we designed a feature assignment fusion module to enhance meaningful features using an adaptive feature weighting strategy to obtain more accurate segmentation. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of DB-DCAFN on a clinical dataset comprising three bacterial categories: Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The experi-mental results demonstrate that the proposed DB-DCAFN outperforms other state-of-the-art methods and is effective at segmenting bacteria from sputum smear images.

Using its pneumatic suction cups, this little window climbing robot should be able to clean and wash a pretty big area of outdoor office windows on high-rise buildings without human intervention. The robot will autonomously clean the room's windows in a predetermined pattern after being manually connected to the outer surface of the window. This study presents the results of an investigation into the potential of a robot called the Modular Glass Cleaning Robot (MGCR) to aid in the cleaning process. The suggested scheme's efficacy will be assessed by cross-validating it with the standard model known as the Conventional Glass Cleaning Robot (CGCR). One kind of robot that has recently evolved is the window cleaner. No matter the size of your building, this robot can find a job here. The primary objective is to develop a robot capable of swiftly and effectively cleaning glass windows, regardless of the location's inherent dangers. Hubbot, a robotic structure, is developed by this system. A combination of linear and rotational movements, as well as the ability to extend and retract the legs and avoid obstacles, will be accomplished. Its construction is both basic and lightweight. To simplify things, instead of a multi-joint legged moving structure, we'll see a hub and a few symmetrical legs. From a weight-saving standpoint, a hanging, reversible motor drives a rack and pinion gear. Furthermore, three distinct bearing configurations demonstrate a structural optimization of the rotating mechanism. Finding the optimal one that both keeps the robot's cost down and guarantees the shaft's stiffness is the goal. Lastly, the exploded picture of the entire structure is provided, along with a functional embodiment design that includes three mechanisms: adhesion, actuation, and movement.
