With the development of deep learning, small object detection has a significant role in application fields such as smart factories and remote sensing images. In order to address the problem of difficult and low accuracy detection of small objects due to small pixel scale and little feature information. In this paper, we present a path aggregation network with residual characteristic RPANet on YOLOv3 algorithm, which can twice use the feature information of the backbone network to enhance the small object feature information, and also offer a positional convolution attention mechanism module PCAM to thoroughly learn and extract the small object feature information as well as reduce the unnecessary feature information in the background, so as to further enhance the detection capability of the model for small objects. The experimental results demonstrate that the improved YOLOv3 algorithm is more effective for small object detection. © 2022 ACM.

Modern manufacturing systems strive to optimize many different key performance indicators. Additionally, mathematical programming-based scheduling models enable the explicit considerations of constraints. However, due to the ever-increasing demand for customized products it is not guaranteed that all constraints can be met at the same time. An approach to circumvent this problem of infeasibility is to replace the constraints by soft-constraints, i.e., to penalize their violation in the objective function. The presence of multiple competing objectives and soft-constraints gives rise to multi-objective optimization problems, where a decision maker has to weigh and balance the different objectives and soft-constraints according to his/her preferences and priorities. Ideally the values of all objectives and soft-constraints should lie within the same order of magnitude, making it easy to weigh them against each other. However, for heterogeneous objectives and soft-constraints with different scales and units this might be challenging. This paper presents an evolutionary algorithm for the optimal parametrization of multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming-based scheduling models. The goal of the evolutionary algorithm is to compute weights for the different terms of the objective which lead to a balanced influence on the overall objective at the optimum. Furthermore, the algorithm is extended by introducing an a priori weighing of the objectives in the fitness function of the evolutionary algorithm. The method is demonstrated on a scheduling problem in which a given set of orders has to be allocated to machines within a manufacturing environment.

A series of silver modified Cu/SiO2 catalysts were synthesized with ammonia-evaporation method and applied in vapor-phase hydrogenation of methyl acetate to *** influence of additive‘Ag’on the structural evolution of catalyst was systematically studied by several characterization techniques,such as N2 adsorption–desorption,N2O titration,PXRD,FTIR,in-situ FTIR,H2-TPR,H2-TPD,XPS and *** showed that incorporation of a small amount of Ag could enhance the structural stability,and the strong interaction between Cu and Ag species was conducive to increase the dispersion of copper species and create a suitable Cu+/(Cu0+Cu+)ratio,which was proposed to be responsible for the improved catalytic *** maximum conversion of MA(94.1%)and selectivity of ethanol(91.3%)over optimized Cu-0.5 Ag/SiO2 and 120 h on stream without deactivation under optimal conditions demonstrates its excellent stability.

The Copper (Cu) - Titanium (Ti) powders with varying of Ti content(0.3, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 wt.%) were mixed using a horizontal ball milling. The milling process was performed for 6 hrs at 300 rpm. The Cu-Ti composites were fabricated by a spark plasma sintering process at a sintering temperature of 850℃ and heating rate of 30 ℃/min under a pressure of 40 MPa. The relative density of the composites was all densified to more than 99%. The Cu and Ti in the Cu matrix are unstable to exist in a single phase at temperature range of 800-875°C and a Ti content of 4-8 at.% (3.04-6.15 wt.%). Thus, each element is stabilized by forming a secondary phase. The phase of Cu3Ti was detected upon the Ti content was 4 wt.% or higher, which affected the thermal properties. The thermal conductivity decreased from 262.74 to 46.10 W/m·K according to increase the Ti contents. The Ti present in the heat transfer path in Cu matrix acted as an obstacle to heat diffusion. Furthermore, as the Ti contents increased, the Vickers hardness of Cu-Ti composite increased from 60.19 to 205.20 kg/mm2. In contrast, the crystallite size decreased from 66.63 to 22.43 nm. The Ti particles suppressed the grain growth of the Cu matrix, resulting in a decrease in crystallite size, which contributed to the improvement of the mechanical properties. ©2025 Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy.

Adaptive Energy Management Strategy to Avoid Battery Temperature Peaks in Fuel Cell Electric Trucks

Thermal management is essential in electric vehicles to preserve battery life. In particular, avoiding temperature peaks is critical to prevent accelerated degradation. The battery thermal management problem is crucial in fuel cell electric trucks due to the heavy vehicle weight, especially on mountain or hilly roads. Therefore, this paper proposes an energy management strategy that reduces battery degradation by limiting its usage at high temperatures to allow its cooldown and avoid peaks. The energy management strategy is adaptive because the main control parameters for the fuel cell/battery power-split are adjusted depending on the battery temperature. The comparison between adaptive and non-adaptive strategies proves the effectiveness of the proposed formulation in avoiding temperature peaks without hindering fuel consumption or fuel cell degradation. The robustness of the proposed energy management strategy is validated with simulations of several real-world driving cycles with various speed and elevation profiles.

An optical fiber-based sensor in the configuration of single-multi-single (SMS) modes structure is proposed to detect polyethylene microplastic particles inside aquatic environments via the interaction of light at the interface of optical fiber and the microplastic solutions. Microplastics negatively affect biological systems since living creatures may consume the pollutant. The data on the relationship between the transmittance spectrum and its corresponding wavelength value can be used to correlate and identify the concentration of the microplastic solution. Deposition of gold on the sensing region through sputtering is investigated to improve the sensitivity and reliability of the SMS sensor. This suggests the potential for a gold-coated SMS sensor for in-situ, low-cost and real-time microplastic sensing applications.

Identification of the type of combustion-supporting agents (CSAs) by an electronic nose (e-nose) is severely limited due to the absence of untested gas concentration in the e-nose training set. In order to solve this problem, this study designs an e-nose for classifying four CSAs (Diesel, Gasoline, Ethanol and Thinner), and builds cross-concentrations data set. This study uses Gramian Angular Field method that converts one-dimensional time series data to two-dimensional data, and proposes an algorithm named the Multi-Branch Feature Fusion Network (M-BFFNet). This algorithm passes the one-dimensional and two-dimensional data through two different networks and obtains two types of features. First, the algorithm can strength the one-dimensional raw data, integrate the advantages of different networks, and fuse the characteristics of different networks. Second, it can learn the characteristics of volatile gas with specific concentrations to identify the unknown concentrations. Last, a feature fusion module is designed to improve the algorithm ability of learning odor fingerprint. In order to verify the superiority of the algorithm, this study tests the recognition performance of the e-nose based systems and compares the proposed M-BFFNet with traditional algorithms. The results show that the proposed M-BFFNet improves the identification accuracy compared to other algorithms. According to the analysis of this work, the M-BFFNet can be used to identify CSAs with unknown concentrations.

By designing the decentralized time-regularized (Zeno-free) event-triggered strategies for the state-feedback control law, this paper considers the stochastic stabilization of a class of networked control systems, where two sources of randomness exist in multiple decentralized networks that operate asynchronously and independently: the communication channels are constrained by the stochastic network delays and also by Poisson pulsing denial-of-service (Pp-DoS) attacks. The time delay in the network denotes the length from a transmission instant to the corresponding update instant, and is supposed to be a continuous random variable subject to certain continuous probability distribution;while the attacks' cardinal number is a discrete random variable supposed to be subject to Poisson distribution, so the inter-attack time, i.e., the time between two consecutive attack instants, is subject to exponential distribution. The considered system is modeled as a stochastic hybrid formalism, where the randomness enters through the jump map into the reset value (the inter-attack time directly related) of each triggered strategy. By only sampling/transmitting state measurements when needed and simultaneously by taking the specific medium access protocols into account, the designed event-triggered strategies are synthesized in a state-based and decentralized form, which are robust (tolerable well) to stochastic network delays, under different tradeoff-conditions between the minimum inter-event times, maximum allowable delays (i.e., potentially tolerable delays) and the frequencies of attacks. Using stochastic hybrid tools to combine attack-active parts with attack-over parts, the designed triggered strategies, if designed well according to the actual system needs, can tolerate (be resilient to) the Pp-DoS attacks and stochastic network delays without jeopardizing the stability and Zeno-freeness, which is verified by the robust global attitude stabilization of flexible combined ro

Reduced Network Cumulative Constraint Violation for Distributed Bandit Convex Optimization under Slater’s Condition

This paper studies the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. To calculate network cumulative constraint violation, existing distributed bandit online algorithms solving this problem directly use the clipped constraint function to replace its original constraint function. However, the use of the clipping operation renders Slater’s condition (i.e, there exists a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints at all iterations) ineffective to achieve reduced network cumulative constraint violation. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new distributed bandit online primal–dual algorithm. If local loss functions are convex, we show that the proposed algorithm establishes an O(T max{c,1−c})network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the total number of iterations and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds, the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). In addition, if local loss functions are strongly convex, for the case where strongly convex parameters are unknown, the network regret bound is reduced to O(T1−c), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is O(T1−c/2) and O(T1−c) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. For the case where strongly convex parameters are known, the network regret bound is further reduced to O)(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is among the first to establish reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) bandit convex optimization with time-varying constraints under Slater’s condition.
