This paper considers the distributed online convex optimization problem with time-varying constraints over a network of agents. This is a sequential decision making problem with two sequences of arbitrarily varying convex loss and constraint functions. At each round, each agent selects a decision from the decision set, and then only a portion of the loss function and a coordinate block of the constraint function at this round are privately revealed to this agent. The goal of the network is to minimize the network-wide loss accumulated over time. Two distributed online algorithms with full-information and bandit feedback are proposed. Both dynamic and static network regret bounds are analyzed for the proposed algorithms, and network cumulative constraint violation is used to measure constraint violation, which excludes the situation that strictly feasible constraints can compensate the effects of violated constraints. In particular, we show that the proposed algorithms achieve O(T max{κ,1-κ}) static network regret and O(T 1-κ/2) network cumulative constraint violation, where T is the time horizon and κ ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. Moreover, if the loss functions are strongly convex, then the static network regret bound can be reduced to O(T κ). Significant progress has been made in the field of visual SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping). However, the localization accuracy of visual SLAM can be significantly reduced in low-texture and illumination-changing environments. To solve these problems, an enhanced visual SLAM algorithm based on VGG (Visual Geometry Group) network was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the VGG network for feature point extraction was incorporated into the visual odometry (VO) to achieve robust camera pose estimation. Secondly, an automatic corner annotation method was adopted to set up the training database, which could reduce the workload of data annotation. Thirdly, to make the backend optimization more suitable for the VGG based VO, the BA (bundle adjustment) optimization process was improved. Experimental results showed that, the proposed visual SLAM method outperformed the mainstream ORB-SLAM (Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF SLAM) method, in terms of the number of effective feature points, the robustness of feature matching process to light changes, and the accuracy of robot pose estimation.

Indoor layout estimation (ILE) is a challenging research that segments the natural indoor scene image into floor, walls and ceiling, and it has a wide range of application prospects in the fields such as scene understanding, reconstruction, robot positioning, and virtual reality. An ILE method by merging multiple features from a monocular red-green-blue (RGB) image was proposed. Firstly, the High-resolution networks (HRNet) was used to extract the features of indoor corner keypoints (CKs) and informative edges (IEs) in the form of heatmaps. Secondly, the extracted features were then selected through a room type (RT) classification network. Finally, a feature fusion algorithm was proposed, which obtained the initial layout hypothesis through CK features and then continuously optimized the layout hypothesis with IE features. The proposed ILE method was validated on the large scene understanding challenge (LSUN) dataset.

In order to better understand the influence mechanism and law of rare earth (RE) doping on the properties of cobalt ferrite (CFO), RE (including La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Ho, Er, Yb, Y) doped CFO nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel auto combustion method and other methods. The different roles of RE added to CFO in changing cation distribution and further affecting structure, magnetism and microwave absorption properties due to different substitution positions are studied and reported. The crystal structure formation and crystallite size are studied by X-ray diffraction and the results showed that the replacement of Co2+ ions by RE 3+ ions was more likely to lead to larger lattice distortion and smaller grains compared with the replacement of Fe3+ ions by RE3+ ions. Room temperature magnetization measurements show that the saturation magnetization of CFO decreases with the substitution of RE3+ ions, and the change of coercivity is related to the substitution position and type of RE3+ ions. The coercivity increases significantly with the substitution of Co2+ ions by RE3+ , reaching a maximum of 2423 Oe (Co0.8Gd0.2Fe2O4), and decreases with the substitution of Fe3+ ions by RE3+ . The substitution of Fe3+ ions by Ce3+ , Nd3+ , Yb3+ and Er3+ (substitution amount x=0.05) lead to the increase of remanence. Gd3+ , La3+ , Nd3+ and Y3+ doping can improve the microwave absorption performance of CFO, and Co0.9Nd0.1Fe2O4 had the lowest reflection loss of about -23.35 dB at frequency of 11.12 GHz, corresponding to ~99% microwave energy being absorbed. However, the microwave absorbing property is sensitive to the doping amount. Therefore, the synergistic effect of RE doping and structural regulation is needed to improve the microwave absorption performance. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal phosphorus-sulfur compounds (TMPS4) have attracted great theoretical and experimental attention because of their broadband modulation and high hole mobility that can be used in nanodevices. Therefore, their Curie temperature and thermal properties deserve further study for applications in electronic devices. The electromagnetic properties and spin transport properties of 2D transition metal phosphorus-sulfur compounds are systematically investigated by density function theory (DFT) and DFT combined with the nonequilibrium Green's function method. We find that TMPS4 materials cover almost all spin electronic behaviors, including half-metals, magnetic and nonmagnetic semiconductors, and metals. The simulation results show that the magnetic tunnel junction constructed based on TMPS4has a perfect thermal spin filtering effect and a negative differential resistance effect. Especially, we obtain up to 1010% thermal colossal magnetoresistance and almost 100% spin polarization. Based on these results, it is proved that TMPS4 can be a substrate material for the development of high performance for spin-caloritronic and spintronic devices. © 2022, The Authors. Approximated Constrained Optimal control subject to Variable Parameters

Implementing optimal controllers on embedded systems can be challenging as it requires the solution of an optimization problem in real-time. Furthermore, the a priory verification of stability, e.g. not relying on the possibly numerical solution of an optimization problem is often not possible. We propose a non-linear control synthesis based on an approximated explicit solution of a constrained optimal control problem, which can be efficiently implemented and verified. The control law is derived based on a series expansion of an infinite horizon optimal control problem via Al’brekht‘s Method. In comparison to existing approaches we consider parametric uncertainties. The proposed method provides under certain conditions an approximated solution of the Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) equation. The feedback control law uses a finite number of terms of the series expansion, and therefore the evaluation does not require intensive online computation. Furthermore, the optimal control strategy does not only achieve an approximated infinite horizon performance but is also parameterized in terms of the varying parameters which are assumed to be known. We provide a proof of convergence and existence of the optimal control law. Simulation results with a non-linear quadcopter example show the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Pipelines transporting gas need several compressor stations, which consume a significant amount of energy. In this study, with the aim to improve the performance of the compressor stations, the high-temperature exhaust gases from the gas turbines are recovered and used in the production of steam in a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). In this regard, an innovative integrated turbocompressor with SOFC-Geothermal- Steam and Organic Rankine Cycles for gas stations has been proposed. The SOFC is integrated with a HRSG to produce additional steam and with a geothermal system coupled with an ORC to produce additional power. In addition, the exhaust flue gas of the HRSG enters the ORC cycle to produce power. The proposed system considers the Serajeh gas station in Qom city as a case study. To perform a more complete analysis of the integrated system, Exergetic, Exergoeconomic, Exergoenvironmental and Emergy (5E) analysis have been performed. In addition, advanced exergy analysis based on endogenous/exogenous and avoidable/unavoidable parts of exergy destruction have been examined for the novel system. In this regard, a computer program has been developed to perform these analyses. Different organic working fluids have been examined in the ORC unit. The thermodynamic simulation has been verified by Thermoflex Software with high accuracy. © ECOS *** right reserved.

This paper focuses on the energy management of fuel cell/ultracapacitor/battery hybrid vehicles. A robust rule-based strategy is proposed to effectively reduce hydrogen consumption, increase vehicle lifetime, and handle multiple constraints. This strategy won the IEEE VTS Motor Vehicles Challenge 2020. The formulation of the control rules is heavily based on the vehicle model and the analysis of the assigned cost function. A stochastic generation of driving scenarios is proposed to deal with the limited information provided by the challenge, guarantying a robust design of the energy management strategy. The results are analyzed on a large set of synthetic driving cycles.

D-VPnet: A Network for Real-time Dominant Vanishing Point Detection in Natural Scenes

As an important part of linear perspective, vanishing points (VPs) provide useful clues for mapping objects from 2D photos to 3D space. Existing methods are mainly focused on extracting structural features such as lines or contours and then clustering these features to detect VPs. However, these techniques suffer from ambiguous information due to the large number of line segments and contours detected in outdoor environments. In this paper, we present a new convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect dominant VPs in natural scenes, i.e., the Dominant Vanishing Point detection Network (D-VPnet). The key component of our method is the feature line-segment proposal unit (FLPU), which can be directly utilized to predict the location of the dominant VP. Moreover, the model also uses the two main parallel lines as an assistant to determine the position of the dominant VP. The proposed method was tested using a public dataset and a Parallel Line based Vanishing Point (PLVP) dataset. The experimental results suggest that the detection accuracy of our approach outperforms those of state-of-the-art methods under various conditions in real-time, achieving rates of 115fps. A novel power and fresh-water production system is proposed in this paper that improves the efficiency of a gas turbine and recovers part of the waste heat. The system combines a supercritical CO2regenerative Brayton cycle with a gas turbine, a solar tower, an organic Rankine cycle and a reverse osmosis (RO) desalination system. A thermodynamic simulation has been performed for the complex proposed system. In addition, Energy, Exergy, Exergoeconomic, Exergoenvironmental and Emergy (5E) analysis are performed. To better evaluate the proposed system, advanced 5E analysis have been performed based on the calculation of the exogenous/endogenous and avoidable/unavoidable parts of the exergy destructions. A computer program has been developed for the thermodynamic simulation and the 5E analysis. Thermodynamic simulations have been verified with Thermoflex software with high accuracy. © ECOS *** right reserved.
