The timber's drying process is a mandatory operation before any action of the wood processing. In the recent years, the fundamental research in the field of timber's drying has made progress, the physical laws regarding the removal of the water from the wood through different procedures (convection, vacuum, microwave etc.) being elucidated. The using of the calculus techniques allows the accurate simulation of heat and mass transfer phenomena, as well as of the mechanical aspects (internal stresses, deformations), which accompany the wood's drying process. The paper presents the implementation of the monitoring and the control system of the timber's conventional drying, using programmable controllers (Siemens), dedicated devices and dedicated software (Step 7).

An adjacent internally-cooled membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidifier (AIMLDD) is proposed and used for air dehumidification. The AIMLDD is a parallel-plate membrane contactor, which contains cooling channels. The air and the solution streams are separated by selectively permeable membranes, while the solution and the water streams are separated by plastic plate. The air stream flows in a cross-flow arrangement with the solution stream, while the solution stream flows in a co-current flow arrangement with the water stream. Establish a mathematical model in a unit cell, which contains half of an air channel, a piece of membrane, a solution channel, a piece of plastic plate, and half of a cooling channel, to research the conjugate heat and mass transports in the AIMLDD. Use a finite difference method to solve the normalized equations governing momentum, heat and mass transports. The dehumidification amount, the efficiency and outlet parameters are then obtained. A continuous air dehumidification system based on the AIMLDD is set up to validate the numerical results. Compare the efficiency under different condition and different structure of the membrane contactor. It can be found that the dehumidification amount and the efficiency for the AIMLDD are higher than those for an adiabatic one.

For the case of input/output time-delays, a general solution is retrieved from the *** state time-delays, the scalar case is considered and a precompensator is used to cancel the delay. Due to the uncertainty of power load demand and the stochastic power generation from renewable energy, frequency fluctuation becomes a major concern of power system, especially for a microgrid. In this paper, an improved proportional-integral (PI) controller based on the neural adaptive control method is proposed to deal with the load frequency control (LFC) problem in a microgrid with wind power. The designed neural adaptive control auxiliary controller is used to provide the adaptive supplement control signal to PI controller in a real-time manner. Simulation studies on a benchmark microgrid system are carried out between the proposed compound controller and traditional PI controller. The simulation results demonstrate the proposed method has a superior performance for stabilizing the frequency over the traditional PI control under disturbances from the load change and wind power.

The demand on distribution network reconfiguration abilities is increasing. This paper proposes a Finite State Automaton model of a distribution network that deals with topologically safe reconfiguration. Autonomous operation of distribution networks can be designed, analysed and implemented in day-to-day operation with the aid of these automata: through supervisory control. Two approaches to supervisor design are proposed. One for the normal operating mode and the other for the contingency mode. Simple and comprehensive examples illustrate the approaches.

OPCUA is a promising candidate for achieving a vertical semantic integration of field devices in the next generation of industrial automation topologies. Microprocessing platforms embedded in sensors and actor do however not provide the memory and computing resources required to integrate OPC UA communication stacks. To enable the usage of OPC UA on limited platforms, this article introduces a dedicated, highly scalable hardware server stack, synthesizable on 75.800 μm 2 using 28 nm CMOS technology as well as FPGAs, that can process OPC UA as a peripheral component.

We consider an electron wave packet evolution in the external deterministic electric field with Gaussian white noise addition. An explicit expression was given for the averaged probability flux with Gaussian initial wave function. We show that the noise addition increases wave packet spreading rate, which has a significant influence on flux amplitude and may play both destructive and constructive role. This depends on the form of external deterministic field.

A 1-dodecanethiol-based phase-transfer protocol is developed for the extraction of noble metal ions from aqueous solution to a hydrocarbon phase, which calls for first mixing the aqueous metal ion solution with an ethanolic solution of 1-dodecanethiol, and then extracting the coordination compounds formed between noble metal ions and 1-dodecanethiol into a non-polar organic solvent. A number of characterization techniques, including inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis demonstrate that this protocol could be applied to extract a wide variety of noble metal ions from water to dichlorometh- ane with an efficiency of 〉96%, and has high selectivity for the separation of the noble metal ions from other transition metals. It is therefore an attractive alternative for the extraction of noble metals from water, soil, or waste printed circuit boards.
