The Exact Model Matching (EMM) problem knows an Approximate Model Matching (AMM) solution in the Fault Tolerant control (FTC) context, solution obtained using either the Modified Pseudo-Inverse Method (MPIM) or the Classical Robust Optimal Model Matching (CROMM) technique. In this paper, the authors reiterate the AMM solution with MPIM-CROMM and propose another hybrid technique of MPIM with Generalized Linear Quadratic Regulator (GLQR) stabilization and control correction using one of the ROMM variants, called the Extended approach (EROMM). The specificity of the MPIM-GLQR-EROMM as an AMM solution for FTC is also shown in its application on the B747 short-period model impaired with two structural and actuator faults.

Mobile apps are a success story for mobile devices, particularly in the consumer sector. Tailored to a specific task, they offer optimal usability for a defined class of devices. However, today's apps are neither designed to collaborate with complex workflows nor to support these. To overcome this limitation, we developed the concept of Mobile App Orchestration. This pragmatic model driven software generation approach makes it possible to use mobile apps even in complex industrial workflows. We demonstrate the entire development process in a use case and explain solutions and challenges of our approach. An experimental evaluation of a manually conducted orchestration with 11 participants supports our design hypothesis that the proposed approach can deliver usable mobile support systems for Virtual Factories.

process auditing using historical data can identify causes for poor performance and reveal opportunities to improve process operation. To date, the data used has been limited to process measurements; however other sources hold complementary information about the process behavior. This paper proposes a new approach to root-cause diagnosis, which also takes advantage of the information in utility, mechanical and electrical data, alarms and diagrams. Its benefit is demonstrated in an industrial case study, by tackling an important challenge in root-cause analysis: large-scale systems. This paper also defines specifications for a semi-automated tool to implement the proposed approach.

Semantic web technologies are a key enabler for future information systems. The concept of Linked Data allows flexible inter-organizational collaboration and dynamic data integration. It surpasses the limitations of prevalent relational databases and proprietary access technologies. RFID, on the other hand, has been successfully applied to integrate physical artifacts into complex information systems. It allows the identification of artifacts by a unique identifier leveraging concepts such as the Internet of Things. Using the existing RFID ecosystem as universal entry point to Linked Data clouds makes it possible to connect the semantic description of the real world with the physical artifacts within this world. This provides new ways of merging and exploring real and virtual content. This paper presents an approach for using RFID as universal entry point to Linked Data clouds for task-driven and context-aware mobile support systems.

In many fault detection problems, we want to detect or identify defective items in a sample set by using the minimum number of tests. Group testing is for the scenario where each test is on a subset of items, and tells whether the subset contains at least one defective item or not. Another practically important problem is to estimate the number of defective items in a sample set. In this paper, we present an efficient FPRAS (fully polynomial-time randomized approximation scheme) type group testing procedure to approximate the number of defective items in a sample set.

The paper presents a method of estimating the transient inductance and rotor resistance of an induction machine in a self-commissioning scheme. The method is based on two frequency-domain tests, with injected frequencies that are selected by using special criterions. These are established based on the standstill frequency domain analysis. Identification results for large machines of different sizes are included, and validated by comparison with the results obtained by performing standard tests.
