To achieve a sustainable low-carbon society and stable power supply to local areas, a self-sustaining distributed energy system' is proposed and evaluated. The system consists of multiple stand-alone small grids ('nanogrids') that utilize renewable energy sources and multiple electric vehicles (EVs) serving as power-interchange agents among nanogrids and as means of regional mobility. Two technologies required for constructing the system were developed. The first is 'nanogrid power-flow modeling' enabling quantitative evaluation including electricity loss in general nanogrid power systems including AC and DC nanogrids. The second is a 'powermanagement algorithm' for multiple-electric-vehicle operations using simulated annealing in which power consumption by moving EVs is considered. Also, a simulation environment that enables quantitative evaluation of the proposed system using regional demand data was built. The performance of the system, in the case that three nanogrids were installed in Iwamizawa city, Hokkaido, was evaluated by simulation. According to the results of the simulation (performed for 365 days), as compared to the electricity loss in the case of an AC system, that in the case of a DC system was reduced by 8%. Also, in the case of the DC system, the power supply from external power grids was reduced by 33% by increasing the number of EVs. These results suggest that the higher efficiency of the DC nanogrid system makes it more suitable for regional energy supply. © 2023 IEEE.

Optical bioimaging and optogenetics have recently made it possible to control brain functions. However, these methods have limitations, such as the inability to regulate neural activity with a high spatiotemporal resolution. To address this limitation, we have developed microscope for biological applications by integrating optogenetics and digital holographic technology. Background: Integrating advanced machine-learning (ML) algorithms into clinical practice is challenging and requires interdisciplinary collaboration to develop transparent, interpretable, and ethically sound clinical decision support (CDS) tools. We aimed to design a ML-driven CDS tool to predict opioid overdose risk and gather feedback for its integration into the University of Florida Health (UFHealth) electronic health record (EHR) system. Methods: We used user-centered design methods to integrate the ML algorithm into the EHR system. The backend and UI design sub-teams collaborated closely, both informed by user feedback sessions. We conducted seven user feedback sessions with five UF Health primary care physicians (PCPs) to explore aspects of CDS tools, including workflow, risk display, and risk mitigation strategies. After customizing the tool based on PCPs’ feedback, we held two rounds of one-on-one usability testing sessions with 8 additional PCPs to gather feedback on prototype alerts. These sessions informed iterative UI design and backend processes, including alert frequency and reappearance circumstances. Results: The backend process development identified needs and requirements from our team, information technology, UFHealth, and PCPs. Thirteen PCPs (male = 62%, White = 85%) participated across 7 user feedback sessions and 8 usability testing sessions. During the user feedback sessions, PCPs (n = 5) identified flaws such as the term "high risk" of overdose potentially leading to unintended consequences (e.g., immediate addiction services referrals), offered suggestions, and expressed trust in the tool. In the first usability testing session, PCPs (n = 4) emphasized the need for natural risk presentation (e.g., 1 in 200) and suggested displaying the alert multiple times yearly for at-risk patients. We say that a Kripke model is a GL-model if the accessibility relation is transitive and converse well-founded. We say that a Kripke model is a D-model if it is obtained by attaching infinitely many worlds t1,t2,..., and tω to a world t0 of a GL-model so that t0 t1 t2 ··· tω. A non-normal modal logic D, which was studied by Beklemishev [3], is characterized as follows. A formula φ is a theorem of D if and only if φ is true at tω in any D-model. D is an intermediate logic between the provability logics GL and S. A Hilbert-style proof system for D is known, but there has been no sequent calculus. In this paper, we establish two sequent calculi for D, and show the cut-elimination theorem. We also introduce new Hilbert-style systems for D by interpreting the sequent calculi. Moreover, we show that D-models can be defined using an arbitrary limit ordinal as well as ω. Finally, we show a general result as follows. Let X and X+ be arbitrary modal logics. If the relationship between semantics of X and semantics of X+ is equal to that of GL and D, then X+ can be axiomatized based on X in the same way as the new axiomatization of D based on *** Codes 03F45, 03F05, 03B45 Copyright © 2023, The Authors. To directly investigate the dynamic nanoscale phenomenon on the surface being processed in wet conditions such as precision polishing, and cleaning in semiconductor industrial, an optical method for visualization and observation of each sub-100 nm sized particle that is moving on an interface such as a silica glass surface by applying an evanescent field have been proposing. Subsequently, we developed an experimental apparatus equipped with an optical microscopy system for verifying the moving particle observation method in a laboratory scale. This article introduces some experimentally direct observation results of duplicated wet processes. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent decades,Southwest China(SWC)has suffered from frequent super droughts,leading to severe economic losses and ecological *** study investigates the characteristics of super droughts in SWC during 1961-2022,reveals the compounding effect of multiscalar anomalies,and explores the plausible atmospheric circulation mechanisms *** nature of super drought is a compound drought caused by the superposition of extreme drought events across multiple time *** contrasting the typical drought cases in 2006 and 2022,the decisive role of multiscalar drought compounding is *** on the Comprehensive Multiscalar Index(CMI),multiple super drought events in SWC were identified to be temporally clustered during *** them,the decadal background of enhanced evaporation and precipitation deficit at long time scales is a necessary condition for shaping the overall pattern of super droughts,while the precipitation and evaporation anomalies at short time scales trigger the outbreak of super droughts,determining the exact timing of *** events include August-September 2006,November 2009 to May 2010,July-October 2011,April-May 2012,January-April 2013,*** results suggest that the contribution of superposed precipitation anomalies to super drought is 2.4 times that of *** regards the circulation mechanisms affecting multiscalar precipitation,the anomalous spatial patterns at short-term and long-term scales are similar,featuring the cyclonic circulation over the South China Sea and the northeasterly wind anomalies together with the subsidence center over *** 2006-2014,the possible causes for the cross-seasonal persistent precipitation reduction in SWC are the extreme negative phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)in the North Pacific as well as the pronounced warming of the warm pool in the western *** key dynamic processes are outlined as *** the one hand,the negative PDO p

Plants can respond to changes in their surroundings, such as temperature, humidity, and human behavior. This ability is due to photosynthesis and respiration in plants, resulting in low electrical signals. We focus on room temperature change by plant bioelectric potential detection. The temperature topic is interesting for the actual research because it is one of important factor in health aspect. This study aims to analysis of temperature of Bioelectric potential of plant using machine learning. This implementation identifies the plants' bioelectric potential in distinguishing three-room temperature categories: A, B, and C temperature. We conducted the experimental in room control. For the transformation process is using wavelet transform. Furthermore, the analysis process, we used the Decision Tree (DT), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighborhood (K-NN), Naïve Bayes, and linear regression. Then, for the evaluation is using confusion Matrix. The result showed that the best level of transformation using Wavelet is 7thlevel for reducing the noise. Furthermore, the best accuracy of analysis process is using Decision tree which obtained 75%. © 2022 IEEE.

Tourism information collection using the social network services (SNSs) has become popular in recent years. Geotagged tweets are useful as a social sensor for estimating and acquiring local tourist information in real time because the information can reflect real-world situations. Earlier studies of methods of estimating cherry blossom viewing times have typically relied on the assumption that one knows a tourist destination: It is impossible to estimate cherry blossom tourist spots that a system user does not know. In its early stages, it can use tweets to find spots already featured in magazines and on the internet. As described herein, spots were detected automatically using a geotagged tweet by visualisation with a heat map and by setting conditions. The proposed method achieved it in about 80% of cases. We also used geotagged Tweets to assess observations of cherry blossom 'front lines' of viewing. © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.. All rights reserved.

Background: New respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccines have been approved in the USA for the prevention of RSV-associated lower respiratory tract disease in adults aged 60 years and older. Information on the real-world effectiveness of these vaccines is needed. Methods: We used electronic health records in the Veterans Health Administration to emulate a target trial comparing a single dose of a recombinant stabilised prefusion F protein RSV vaccine versus no vaccination among veterans aged 60 years and older. We matched eligible vaccine recipients with up to four unvaccinated individuals in four monthly nested sequential trials from Sept 1 to Dec 31, 2023. Outcomes were ascertained up to March 31, 2024. The primary outcome was any positive RSV test from day 14 following the matched index date. Secondary outcomes included hospitalisation and emergency department or urgent care encounter occurring within 1 day before or after a positive RSV test. We estimated vaccine effectiveness as 100 × (1 – risk ratio). Findings: We included 146 852 vaccinated individuals matched to 582 936 unique control individuals, weighted equally to represent 146 852 individuals. Across the two groups, 276 039 (94·0%) of 293 704 veterans were male, 17 665 (6·0%) were female, and median age was 75·9 years (IQR 71·7–79·7). Over a median follow-up of 124 days (IQR 102–150), the incidence rate of documented RSV infection was 1·7 (95% CI 1·4–2·1) events per 1000 person-years (88 total events) in the vaccinated group and 7·3 (6·6–8·1) per 1000 person-years in the unvaccinated group (372 total events), and vaccine effectiveness was estimated as 78·1% (72·6–83·5). Among the secondary outcomes, vaccine effectiveness was estimated at 78·7% (72·2–84·8) against RSV-associated emergency department or urgent care encounters, and 80·3% (65·8–90·1) against RSV-associated hospitalisation. In this paper, a homogenized finite element method for transient analysis of electric apparatus including a multi-turn coil with elliptic cross-section. The tensor-type complex permeability of the multi-turn coil is expanded into partial fractions, which can then be transformed into time-domain. The convolution integral is effectively evaluated using the RC method which does not need large memory storage. It is shown that the power computed by the proposed method is in good agreement with that computed by the conventional finite element method without homogenization. © 2020 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
