With the rapid advancement of intelligent IoT services, the need for high-quality and efficient wireless communication has become increasingly critical for information exchanges and collaborations among intelligent edge devices such as autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), robots in smart factories, and surveillance cameras, etc., Federated Learning (FL) is a promising distributed learning framework by exploring the computation capability on edge devices while protecting data privacy of users. On the other hand, Over-the-Air (OTA) computation techniques is a new paradigm of integrated computation and communication. OTA based FL (OTA-FL) can enhance spectrum efficiency by leveraging the superposition properties of wireless channels for model aggregations. The implementation of OTA-FL on edge devices can further protect user data privacy for clients, improve the throughput of inter-device communications, and enhance the distributed learning performance. However, despite these advantages, the convergence of OTA-FL systems remain vulnerable to model poisoning attacks, presenting significant challenges. In this study, we address these vulnerabilities by proposing a two-phase detection mechanism that secures OTA-FL system while preserving high spectral efficiency. Our simulation results demonstrate that under varying conditions, our approach can make distributed learning more secure and communication-efficient. © 2025 IEEE.

Online learning platforms are crucial today to ensure uninterrupted teaching and learning. Lecturers upload recorded lectures on these platforms, aiding students having connectivity issues and supporting distance education. However, these lecture recordings are often too lengthy to efficiently navigate to the most attentional content, which includes essential information provided in the lecture. This study proposes a new method to navigate lengthy videos by automatically identifying the most attentional content in video lectures. It would be a better alternative to the existing findings, such as text search in the audio transcript or manual video pausing. Three sub-questions drove the research: what are lecturers' most common techniques to emphasise the most attentional content, how can these techniques be identified in slides, and how can a navigational structure be created to access the most attentional content in video lectures? The research employed a constructive research approach. It started with a questionnaire to uncover lecturers' common techniques, such as text highlighting, underlining, and writing on the slides to denote the most attentional content. The study included a comparative analysis of existing image processing techniques such as Contour Detection, Canny Edge Detection, and Probabilistic Hough Line Transformation, and a machine learning object detection model named EfficientDet DO 512x512 to identify the most attentional content in video frames. The findings revealed that the object detection model was more effective in identifying the most attentional content. Finally, the research employed a strategy involving video frame capturing, slide transition detection, tagging video frames with timestamps, and relevant transcribed words to generate the navigation structure. The findings demonstrated that the navigation structure could effectively locate slides containing the most attentional content with high precision values. Hence, this research can

The 12th Global Trajectory Optimization Competition challenged teams to design trajectories for mining asteroids and transporting extracted resources back to the Earth. This paper outlines the methods and results of the runner-up team, BIT-CAS-DFH, highlighting an overall analysis of the approach as well as detailed descriptions of the methods used. The approach begins with building databases to reduce computational costs in trajectory design. Then, asteroid sequences are determined. A segmentation-based approach was adopted to efficiently handle the large dataset. Each sequence was divided into four time-based segments. Segments 1 and 4 were generated forward and backward, respectively, using a breadth-first beam search. Candidates for these segments were refined using genetic and greedy algorithms. Segments 2 and 3 were then generated and selected forward and backward based on the results of Segments 1 and 4. Following this, a matching process paired candidates from Segments 2 and 3. With the asteroid sequences established, low-thrust trajectories were optimized using indirect methods. A local optimization strategy was employed to maximize the collected mass by fine-tuning rendezvous timings. The final solution is presented, with comparative analyses against other teams’ approaches.

Laplacian dynamics on signed digraphs have a richer behavior than those on nonnegative digraphs. In particular, for the so-called 'repelling' signed Laplacians, the marginal stability property (needed to achieve consensus) is not guaranteed a priori and, even when it holds, it does not automatically lead to consensus, as these signed Laplacians may lose rank even in strongly connected digraphs. Furthermore, in the time-varying case, instability can occur even when switching in a family of systems each of which corresponds to a marginally stable signed Laplacian with the correct corank. In this article, we present novel conditions for achieving consensus on signed digraphs based on the property of eventual positivity, a Perron-Frobenius (PF) type of property for signed matrices. The conditions we develop cover both time-invariant and time-varying cases. A particularly simple sufficient condition, valid in both cases, is that the Laplacians are normal matrices. Such condition can be relaxed in several ways. For instance, in the time-invariant case it is enough that the Laplacian has this PF property on the right side, but not on the left side (i.e., on the transpose). For the time-varying case, convergence to consensus can be guaranteed by the existence of a common Lyapunov function for all the signed Laplacians. All conditions can be easily extended to bipartite consensus. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Smart home technologies and apps are on a rise. This allows to implement digital nudging elements to foster energy-conservation behavior and, thus, contribute to mitigating climate change. Digital nudging via feedback can be effective in improving energy-conservation behavior, as substantial prior research has shown. However, the investigation of users' preferences concerning feedback nudges is missing. This lack of knowledge is crucial, as user satisfaction influences their continuous app usage, a precondition for achieving positive effects. To close this gap, we perform a structured literature review, categorize the feedback nudge features from extant research, and conduct an online survey. Based on survey data and the Kano model, we analyze the effect of feedback nudge features on user satisfaction. Our study complements the traditional focus on the effectiveness of these nudges with a perspective on user satisfaction. The combination of both perspectives suggests which feedback nudge features should be considered for implementation. © 2022 International Conference on information systems, ICIS 2022: "Digitization for the Next Generation". Emerging resistive RAM (ReRAM) devices can in-situ execute vector-matrix-multiplication (VMM) and is able to achieve energy-efficient in-memory scientific computing. However, the peripheral separated S&Hs and ADCs for row buffering and sensing in conventional designs are the system bottleneck. We propose an ADC-less all-in-one processing-in-ReRAM design that enables the precharge once, readout multiple-bits (PORM) functionality for overlapping the tRCD latencies of different-significance result bits sensed out on the same bitline. Specifically, to support PORM sensing, we propose a cascaded-feedback bitline sensing architecture for VMM and a buffering-and-sensing-collocated sense amplifier elemental design with the bitline and the storage node fully decoupled for enabling conflict-free column accesses. We further propose cross-level inter-leaving mechanism for successive column VMM accesses to reduce the overall latency through improving the hardware spatiotemporal utilization. Experimental results show that our proposed design achieves 297% overall performance improvement and 85.8% energy reduction, compared with an aggressive baseline. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). The Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) is one of the key elements of NASA’s Artemis return to the Moon. As an unpressurized rover, the LTV hand controller must take into account the limitations of the spacesuit worn by the crew as well as lessons learned operating the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle and preliminary NASA simulations. Because the NASA Ground Test Unit (GTU) design features omnidirectional steering, NASA engineers developed the Tri-Rotor is an innovation to minimize crew fatigue and discomfort. NASA conducted a series of tests, initially with 3D printed mockup controllers, and expanding to a functional prototype used in an LTV video wall simulation. The Tri-Rotor compared favorably with legacy Apollo T-Handles, though numerous test subject comments were collected to improve the controller’s usability. Several options to improve the Tri-Rotor’s usability are also discussed, along with opportunities to test the Tri-Rotor in Virtual Reality, a motion table, and in field analogs. © 2023, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. In basketball, players must be able to make good decisions in complex and rapidly changing situations. An important element of situational judgment is visual search motion. We propose to quantify the visual search motion of a basketball player during play. In the proposed method, the experience of playing basketball is realized on a VR simulation. The player wears a head-mounted display to experience the playing situation. We prepared scenarios that considered the characteristics of the basketball game and the characteristics of the head-mounted display and measured the visual search motion on the prototype system. Experiments were conducted on defensive players, and the results show that the measurement results of visual search motion are useful for discussing the characteristics of players. As the licensed spectrum has been scarce, the unlicensed spectrum is deemed as a strong supplement to the licensed band, particularly for diversified sensors connected to the metaverse. Moreover, as one of the key components in future communication networks, the massive connection is crucial to the massive sensors connected to the metaverse with object of maximizing the number of connected devices while minimizing their power consumption. Therefore, both licensed and unlicensed bands are used for metaverse users and sensors in this paper. First, a feasible implementation framework is proposed to minimize power consumption and maximize the number of connected sensors while guaranteeing their data rate requirements. Accordingly, a joint power, spectrum allocation and user association scheme is proposed. Finally, the simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

The recent development of channel technology has promised to reduce the transaction verification time in blockchain *** transactions are transmitted through the channels created by nodes,the nodes need to cooperate with each *** one party refuses to do so,the channel is unstable.A stable channel is thus *** nodes may show uncooperative behavior,they may have a negative impact on the stability of such *** order to address this issue,this work proposes a dynamic evolutionary game model based on node *** model considers various defense strategies'cost and attack success ratio under *** can dynamically adjust their strategies according to the behavior of attackers to achieve their effective *** equilibrium stability of the proposed model can be *** proposed model can be applied to general channel *** is compared with two state-of-the-art blockchain channels:Lightning network and Spirit *** experimental results show that the proposed model can be used to improve a channel's stability and keep it in a good cooperative stable *** its use enables a blockchain to enjoy higher transaction success ratio and lower transaction transmission delay than the use of its two peers.
