Software debugging plays a crucial role in fault localization tasks, and spectrum-based fault localization (SBFL) is a hot topic in software automation debugging research. However, existing SBFL technologies are generally limited by tie within ranks, where a large number of elements share the same suspiciousness, which in turn severely limits the performance of SBFL. To this end, we propose an SBFL model based on eigenvector centrality (FLEC). This algorithm first utilizes the statement coverage information in the program spectrum to construct a statement network, and adopts the correlation between statements as edge weights. Then, FLEC takes statement suspiciousness as node weight. On this basis, the algorithm utilizes the eigenvector centrality to calculate the weighted suspiciousness of each statement while considering both node importance and correlation between nodes. Finally, FLEC conducted experimental validation on 3 datasets of Defects4J, and the results showed an average improvement of 10.7% in ACC@N compared to the optimal baseline. © 2024 IEEE.

Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) has shown a promising application in various fields of modern optics due to its excellent transmission characteristics. However, conventional numerical solution methods have limitations such as high computational effort and low efficiency in designing PCF structures and characterizing pulse propagation in PCFs. With the advancement of artificial intelligence technology, various types of intelligent computing approaches, especially intelligent algorithm and machine learning algorithm (IML), provide new perspectives to solve the above difficulties. Therefore, an increasing number of researchers are committed to using IML to break through the limitations of conventional methods and accordingly open up a new interdisciplinary research direction. This paper begins with a brief overview of common optical properties and typical algorithms. Subsequently, it reviews specific areas where PCF and IML are combined, including the prediction and optimization of optical properties, the design of polarization devices, fiber lasers and amplifiers, as well as the control and prediction of Supercontinuum generation. Arm cycling has been proven to be an effective exercise for stroke rehabilitation. It strengthens the upper body, improves arm control, and can aid in restoring walking abilities. Promoting the engagement of the paretic arm is crucial, and tailoring the load to accommodate the limitations of the paretic side is a practical approach to encourage the safe use of this arm. We propose that the load modulation can be based on the EMG activity of the weaker side. This work assesses the feasibility of implementing arm cycling with asymmetric loading modulated by EMG activity and proposes a device design. We conducted two user experiments. The results of the first experiment show that asymmetric loading in arm cycling reduces peak activity in the targeted muscles. The second experiment underscores the potential to modulate the magnitude of the load using EMG *** relevance— This work explores a novel approach to address motor impairments' unique and evolving challenges.

Neck pain is a common condition that affects the general population and burdens the health system. Physical therapy is widely accepted as the most effective approach for addressing this condition but there is no consensus on which set of exercises give optimal results. In this context, mobile neck orthosis can potentially expand the number of exercise treatments as they provide multilateral support in contrast to traditional unilateral exercises. In this regard, a passive system of adjustable stiffness is a practical solution that does not require complex control strategies to regulate the load. Considering this, this work proposes a novel passive orthosis for neck exercises involving cervical rotation and flexion. Firstly, the actuation concept is explained along with the relevant parameters that affect the system’s stiffness. Then, a user experiment with volunteers with no clinical conditions was carried out to quantify muscle effort changes using the device with different stiffness configurations. The results showed significant changes for all movements. Particularly, similar muscle activation to traditional therapies was found during cervical rotations.

When we apply field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) as HPC accelerators, their memory bandwidth presents a significant challenge because it is not comparable to those of other HPC accelerators. In this paper, we propose a memory system for HBM2-equipped FPGAs and HPC applications that uses block RAMs as an addressable cache implemented between HBM2 and an application. This architecture enables data transfer between HBM2 and the cache bulk and allows an application to utilize fast random access on BRAMs. This study demonstrates the implementation and performance evaluation of our new memory system for HPC and HBM2 on an FPGA. Furthermore, we describe the API that can be used to control this system from the host. We implement RISC-V cores in an FPGA as controllers to realize fine-grain data transfer control and to prevent overheads derived from the PCI Express bus. The proposed system is implemented on eight memory channels and achieves 102.7 GB/s of the bandwidth. It overcomes the memory bandwidth of conventional FPGA boards with four channels of DDR4 memory despite using only 8 of 32 channels of the HBM2. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In a distributed system, functionally equivalent nodes work together to form a system with improved availability, reliability and fault tolerance. Thereby, the purpose is to achieve a common control objective. As multiple components cooperate to accomplish tasks, coordination between them is required. Electing a node as the temporary leader can be a possible solution to perform coordination. This work presents a self-stabilizing algorithm for the election of a leader in dynamically reconfigurable bus topology-based broadcast systems with a message and time complexity of O(1). The election is performed dynamically, i.e., not only when the leader node fails, and is criterion-based. The criterion used is a performance related value which evaluates the properties of the node regarding the ability to perform the tasks of the leader. The increased demands on the leader are taken into account and a re-election is started when the criterion value drops below a predefined level. The goal here is to distribute the load more evenly and to reduce the probability of failure due to overload of individual nodes. For improved system availability and reduced fault rates, a management level consisting of leader, assistant and co-assistant is introduced. This reduces the number of required messages and the duration in case of non-initial election. For further reduction of required messages to uniquely determine a leader, the CAN protocol is exploited. The proposed algorithm selects a node with an improved failure rate and a reduced message and hence time complexity while satisfying the safety and termination constraints. The operation of the algorithm is validated using a hardware test setup. © 2023 IEEE.

As global road infrastructure expands rapidly, especially in developing countries, maintaining the quality and safety of these roads becomes critical. However, many routes lack detours, and the swift deterioration of these busy roads raises serious concerns. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a cost-effective, quick inspection method. This study proposes a solution through drive-by monitoring. We utilized commercial buses with vibration sensors and Global Positioning System (GPS) devices. The GPS receivers, acting as accurate clocks, could record the bus’s location while providing space- and time-synchronization for the simultaneously measured vibration data. For this study, we installed an acceleration sensor under each bus seat. We can convert the recorded vehicle vibration data into road unevenness information, assuming specific vehicle parameters. To minimize errors, we updated the assumed parameters to align more closely with the average road unevenness versus the estimated unevenness from each bus. We employed a Genetic Algorithm, a search heuristic that mimics the process of natural evolution, to update these parameters. Through this methodology, we could estimate vehicle parameters and road unevenness, paving the way for an efficient, low-cost road inspection method. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Because of degradations of the wired infrastructure connecting the element of railroad control systems, and related primarily to their destruction, the use of the radio transmission medium for independent management of railroad traffic control devices is increasingly being considered. An undoubted problem in implying such solutions is the security of transmission in such systems. It should be noted that security at a certain level of transmission is currently already offered by the radio transmission systems themselves, which has also been used in the GSM-R standard. The creation of a separate dedicated system for railroads involves huge expenditures for the design, testing, certification and, finally, construction and implementation of such technology. Therefore, in the opinion of the author of this dissertation, it is possible to use public open radio networks for the needs of railroads, which significantly reduces costs, since such a system is based on existing infrastructure. It is necessary to develop a way of transmitting information that meets the requirements of secure transmission in the sense of railroad traffic control systems. The task is to develop a general model for open radio transmission in traffic control systems based on the latest public radio standard, which is LTE, 5G or Future Railway Mobile Communications System (FRMCS). The article will present the concept of data transmission in the track – vehicle relationship with the use of LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology. It will show the concept of transmission based on the PNEN50159:2011 standard and the results of the tests conducted during control trips on the railway route. The main element that will be subject to the research will include the transmission safety and its delay.
