Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are essential for various applications, but their architecture makes them vulnerable to attacks. While traditional security methods like authentication and encryption offer some protection, they often fall short against specific node attacks. This paper introduces the Secure Energy Aware Routing (SEAR) strategy, which uses trust-based assessments to exclude malicious nodes while optimizing energy consumption. SEAR factors in node trust, hop time, and residual energy to ensure reliable data transmission through trustworthy nodes. MATLAB simulations on networks of varying sizes (100-500) compare SEAR with existing methods (EAD and EASER), demonstrating SEAR's superior performance. Results show significant improvements in packet delivery ratio (13-16%), network throughput (19-24 %), energy consumption (32-36%), packet loss (16-190/0), and end-to-end latency (21-26%), proving SEAR's effectiveness in enhancing WSN security, energy efficiency, and performance. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a reinforcement learning (RL) based compensator for minimising the trajectory tracking deviation of a robot arm under external disturbances. The compensator adaptively incorporates the weighted joint position errors into the reference joint position values, with the weighting factor provided by the RL action output. The effectiveness of the method has been verified on a simulated robot model with realistic physical properties in Gazebo simulator. The focus of this study is on evaluating the linear tracking performance of the robot under both sinusoidal and constant forces applied to the its end-effector. The experiment results show that the proposed method can reduce the mean tool center point (TCP) trajectory deviation over 44%. The result also demonstrate the feasibility of compensation without requiring the TCP position information, using only the robot joint information, offering a more cost-efficient solution.

The unipolar photocurrent in conventional photodiodes(PDs)based on photovoltaic effect limits the output modes and potential versatility of these devices in *** photodiodes with photocurrent switching are emerging as a promising solution for obtaining photoelectric devices with unique and attractive functions,such as optical logic ***,we design an all-solid-state chip-scale ultraviolet(UV)PD based on a hybrid GaN heterojunction with engineered bipolar polarized electric *** introducing the polarization-induced photocurrent switching effect,the photocurrent direction can be switched in response to the wavelength of incident light at 0 V *** particular,the photocurrent direction exhibits negative when the irradiation wavelength is less than 315 nm,but positive when the wavelength is longer than 315 *** device shows a responsivity of up to−6.7 mA/W at 300 nm and 5.3 mA/W at 340 nm,*** particular,three special logic gates in response to different dual UV light inputs are demonstrated via a single bipolar PD,which may be beneficial for future multifunctional UV photonic integrated devices and systems.

We propose a method for fabricating custom passive finger prostheses with compliant fingertips. The prosthetic devices detailed in this study are intended to mimic the compliance of biological fingertips: improving the capacity and comfort of keyboard typing, the manipulation of small objects, and instrumental activities of daily living in general. The proposed method utilizes 3D scanning, 3D printing, and computer-aided design to realize the compliant fingertips feature and to create custom-fit prostheses. We present the clinical application of the proposed prostheses on two end users and the evaluation results of typing speed and gross finger dexterity. The results showed successful fitting of the developed prostheses on both participants. Performance tests showed comparable performance in typing speed and accuracy with and without prostheses, and improved comfort with the prostheses. Gross finger dexterity and pinch force did not show improvement with the prostheses. The participants were able to utilize all fingers in keyboard typing and other iADLs instead of only the intact fingers, which indicates the potential for further functional improvement after habituation to the prostheses. In addition to improved comfort, the participants also reported reduced pain in sensitive sites, and aesthetic satisfaction with the prostheses. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, a radiation-induced attenuation (RIA) kinetic model based on color center density is developed by considering the effects of dose, dose rate, and temperature on RIA in optical fibers. Due to the different experimental conditions of fiber irradiation decay-related studies, there are differences in RIA kinetic models based on different fiber types, dopants, and irradiation dose ranges. Based on the paper of typical comparison scope, this paper constructs an RIA model with certain generality. The proposed RIA kinetic model successfully fits the correspondence between RIA and dose, dose rate, and temperature parameters in different optical fibers. The research results will provide a theoretical basis and data reference for the application selection and whole life cycle assessment of fiber-optic communication systems in the field of the particular radiation environment. © 2022 IEEE.

In existing secret medical-image sharing (SMIS) schemes, to protect and manage secret medical-images (SMIs), the sharing and recovery of each SMI are implemented by local servers of medical institutions. However, since a lot of SMIs are produced by personal smart terminal devices in Internet of Things (IoT) environment, directly implementing the sharing and recovery processes will cause excessive communication and computing burden for those local servers, which makes the existing SMIS schemes not suitable for IoT environment. To address the above issue, we propose an encrypted domain SMIS (Enc-SMIS) scheme with secure outsourcing computation for protecting and managing medical images in IoT environment. In the proposed scheme, the medical images are first encrypted using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and then outsourced to a cloud server for generating a set of image shares. Subsequently, these shares are stored separately in different local servers of medical institutions. Furthermore, the recovery process is also outsourced to the cloud server when doctors need to observe the patients' medical images. Compared with the existing SMIS schemes, the proposed Enc-SMIS scheme alleviates the computing and communication burden on local servers significantly with secure outsourcing computation in the semi-honest model, and thus supports the storage and management of medical images well in IoT environment. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper proposes a visualization method for the mixed type of high-dimension and low sample-size (HDLSS) data. The data consists of both numerical and categorical data with respect to quantitative and qualitative variables, and the number of variables is much larger than the number of objects. The proposed method can treat both types of data simultaneously in a lower dimensional space. From this, we can compare the two kinds of features obtained from the two types of data in the lower dimensional space. In addition, since this visualization can be obtained based on the mathematical theory of metric multidimensional scaling, the comparability is mathematically guaranteed. As a numerical example, we show how the devices used by students to perform activities of reading, writing, listening, and speaking English texts of different lengths are related to their English test scores. In this case, the choice of device is obtained as qualitative data, and the test scores are obtained as quantitative data. In order to visually obtain these relationships, the two must be mathematically comparable in the same low-dimensional space. With the proposed method, we have achieved this and shown that it is possible to interpret the relationship between the two. © 2024 The Authors.

In this paper, an optical fiber magnetic field sensor based on the magnetic fluid refractive index tunability is proposed. A magnetic field sensor-sensitive unit was manufactured, and an experimental test platform was established for performance testing and analysis. Simulation analyzes the influence law of fiber spacing on the mode field's distribution. The proposed optical fiber magnetic field sensor can measure the magnetic field strength in the range of 0-1.7 T, which has the advantages of an extensive dynamic range, excellent sensitivity, a simple structure, and low production cost. The optical fiber magnetic field sensor proposed in this study can be used in the superconducting system's quenching monitoring system to ensure the system's safe and reliable operation. © 2022 IEEE.
