Australia is a relatively stable continental region but not tectonically inert,having geological conditions that are susceptible to liquefaction when subjected to earthquake ground *** hazard assessment for Australia was conducted because no Australian liquefaction maps that are based on modern Al techniques are currently *** this study,several conditioning factors including Shear wave velocity(Vs30),clay content,soil water content,soil bulk density,soil thickness,soil pH,distance from river,slope and elevation were considered to estimate the liquefaction potential index(LPI).By considering the Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment(PSHA)technique,peak ground acceleration(PGA)was derived for 50 yrs period(500 and 2500 yrs return period)in ***,liquefaction hazard index(LHI)(effects based on the size and depth of the liquefiable areas)was estimated by considering the LPI along with the 2%and 10%exceedance probability of earthquake ***,ground acceleration data from the Geoscience Australia projecting 2%and 10%exceedance rate of PGA for 50 yrs were used in this study to produce earthquake induced soil liquefaction hazard ***,deep neural net-works(DNNs)were also exerted to estimate liquefaction hazard that can be reported as liquefaction hazard base maps for Australia with an accuracy of 94%and 93%,*** per the results,very-high liquefaction hazard can be observed in Western and Southern Australia including some parts of *** research is the first ever country-scale study to be considered for soil liquefaction hazard in Australia using geospatial information in association with PSHA and deep learning *** study used an earthquake design magnitude threshold of Mw 6 using the source model *** resulting maps present the earthquake-triggered liquefaction hazard and are intending to establish a conceptual structure to guide more detailed investigations as may be requir

The sustainability issue in the transportation sector brings the electric vehicle (EV) as a new promising solution for reducing carbon emissions. However, the EV adoption faces issues regarding range, recharging time, and high initial investment. To enhance the adoption, supporting infrastructures should be planned. Therefore, forecasting the growth of EV adoption becomes important to help industries and government in strategic decision making. This paper provides a literature review about forecasting methods in EV ownership, which includes studies from 2011 to March 2023. This will contribute to highlight the current methods and stimulating more developments of forecasting methods related to EV ownership. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Graph edit distance (GED) is a fundamental graph similarity metric. GED computation is NP-hard [10], and exact GED computation is only feasible for small graphs. Therefore, many methods of approximate GED computation have been proposed in the literature. In this paper, we select the five representative GED approximation methods and compare their performance on two real-world datasets. We observe that non-heuristic algorithms such as LSa [1] are fast and accurate in computing true GED for small graphs, and heuristic algorithms such as GENN [4] are very effective in computing the estimated path cost. This effort helps us pinpoint suitable algorithms for different applications. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper carries out an in-depth study on the problem of unstable differential pressure results in high temperature environment for the signaler that detects the blockage of engine hydraulic system, which seriously affects the performance and safety of the machine. According to the structural principle and structural parameters of the signaler to establish the overall static mathematical model, analyze different temperatures on the friction, spring force and other properties of the influence of the law. Using the test data to derive the results of the differential pressure of the signaler, and analyze the reasons for the instability of the differential pressure results of the signaler. Optimization measures are proposed for the unstable factors affecting the differential pressure indication of the signaler, and the optimization measures are theoretically verified, and the theoretical results reach the permissible differential pressure range of the signaler. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.

Eco-friendly freight operations are crucial for decarbonizing the transportation sector. Systematic analysis of policy measures requires a principled modeling approach. While the commonly used model referred to as routing game considers the congestible nature of transportation facilities, exiting models fail to account for environmental factors. This paper aims at providing a mathematical framework to study strategic interaction between owners of mixed fleets comprising of both internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV) and electric vehicle (EV) trucks. This study introduces a "green"routing game with incomplete information that models strategic interaction among multiple logistic operators. These players face a pollution tax imposed on ICEVs and a potential delayed delivery cost due to EV charging requirements with uncertainty. In contrast to existing models, this novel model captures the players' trade-off between lengthier congestion delay at charging stations as the share of EV trucks increases and higher pollution costs with increased ICEVs usage, with uncertainty determined by a latent state. We first provide equilibrium characterization and present a condition for essential uniqueness. We show that this equilibrium can be computed in a distributed manner using a gradient projection method. We then introduce a public information system that broadcasts real-time information about the latent state. Importantly, we analyze value of information for providing a condition for the public information to be beneficial. Finally, we present numerical examples to illustrate settings where environmental taxation and information dissemination can improve social welfare. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In South Korea, due to the absence of the concept of water supply reliability in agricultural reservoirs, a 10-year frequency based on the design standard of drought of about once every 10 years has been adopted and used. Most agricultural reservoirs were built in the 1940s to 1970s and designed based on weather data from that period. Since it does not reflect abnormal weather due to recent climate change such as a lack of precipitation, a decrease in the number of precipitation days, and an increase in the number of heat and heavy rain days, water supply reliability needs to be reevaluated. In order to improve these vulnerabilities of climate change and increase the efficiency of operation, securing and analyzing data related to the water supply reliability of agricultural reservoirs should be prioritized. The big data field is applied to various fields that were limited due to the limitations of data based on vast amounts of data. Such big data can be used in various ways, such as future prediction and problem analysis, but there are problems such as reliability of data collection, correlation, and causal analysis. Therefore, this study intends to present a big data-based method for evaluating the water supply reliability of agricultural reservoirs. To compensate for the limitations of big data, we intend to introduce a machine learning-based decision-making system. © 2023 ASABE Annual International Meeting. All Rights Reserved.

Healthcare cybersecurity is crucial for protecting hospitals' networks and computing systems from malicious cyber-attacks. With the increasing motivation and capability of cyber attackers, it is necessary to secure the software and hardware infrastructure of biomedical computing systems used in healthcare. Due to the increasingly digitized nature of modern biomedical devices used in healthcare systems, effective cybersecurity solutions have become more essential. Traditional security protocols focused on software-level protection, with the underlying hardware assumed to be secure. However, recent studies have revealed vulnerabilities in hardware that attackers can exploit to compromise computing systems. To address this, in this paper a bottom-up approach is proposed, delegating security to the underlying hardware to enhance the security and cost-efficiency with less visibility to the attacker. This paper aims to develop effective intelligent countermeasures for hardware-assisted cyber-security at run-time in biomedical devices. It leverages processors' performance events via Hardware Performance Counters (HPCs) combined with Machine Learning (ML) techniques to fortify biomedical devices at the hardware level. To achieve this objective, we introduce a tailored and cost-effective hardware monitoring framework, complemented by a machine learning-enabled methodology. This approach enhances the accuracy and efficiency of malware detection and identification using real-time data from biomedical processors' hardware events. The experimental results demonstrate that the XGBoost model, using 4 hardware events, excels in malware detection, boasting 95% detection rate (F-measure and Accuracy), efficient resource utilization, and low inference latency. Additionally, the ExtraTree classifier achieves 87% F-measure and exhibits swift performance in classifying malware types in real-time. © 2023 IEEE.

Wrong-way driving(WWD)has been a long-lasting issue for transportation agencies and law enforcement,since it causes pivotal threats to road *** being rare,crashes occurring due to WWD are more severe than other types of *** order to analyze WWD crashes,there is a need to obtain WWD incidents or crash ***,it is time-consuming to identify actual WWD crashes from potential WWD crashes in large crash *** often involves large man-hours to review hardcopy of crash narratives in the police ***,it may cause an overestimation or underestimation of WWD crash *** fill this gap,the present study,as the first-of-its-kind,aims at identifying actual WWD crashes from potential WWD crashes in police reports by using machine learning ***,Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers(BERT)models have shown promising results in natural language *** this study,we implemented the BERT model as well as five conventional classification algorithms,including Naïve Bayes(NB),Support Vector Machine(SVM),Decision Tree(DT),Random Forest(RF),and Single Layer Perceptron(SLP)to classify crash report narratives as actual WWD and non-WWD ***-validation and different performance metrics were used to evaluate the performance of each classification *** indicated that the BERT model outperformed in identifying actual WWD crashes in comparison with other algorithms with an accuracy of 81.59%.The BERT classification algorithm can be implemented to reduce the time needed to identify actual WWD crashes from crash report narratives.

A Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Antenna With High Aperture Reuse Efficiency and Large Frequency Ratio for Modern Wireless Communications

In this letter, a microwave dense dielectric patch antenna and a millimeter-wave (MMW) Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) antenna are first combined to implement a dual-band dual-polarized antenna with high aperture reuse efficiency and large frequency ratio. In the proposed design, a piece of high-permittivity dielectric and a metallic patch are adopted as not only the radiators of the microwave antenna but also the partially reflective surface and ground plane of the MMW FPC. Furthermore, for performance improvement, the high-permittivity dielectric is sharpened to widen the FPC gain bandwidth, a neutralization line is used to enhance the polarization isolation, and two small capacitive disks are employed to improve the channel isolation. As a demonstration, the proposed antenna is designed at 3.5 and 27 GHz. A prototype is fabricated and achieves 20% bandwidth (VSWR 30 dB) with 8 dBi gain in the low band, 22% bandwidth (VSWR24 dB) with 19.9 dBi gain in the high band, and channel isolation higher than 40 dB. © 2002-2011 IEEE.
