Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) rely solely on direct node communication and function without a fixed infrastructure. Due to their decentralized design, they are susceptible to numerous security risks, with black hole attacks posing significant threats to routing integrity and confidentiality. This paper proposes a technique to enhance the Ad hoc On-Demand Multi-path Distance Vector (AOMDV) routing protocol's security against black hole attacks. The method involves a time-based reply message analysis to identify and mitigate malicious nodes. This algorithm improves the protocol's ability to detect and prevent black hole attacks by closely analyzing response time differences between malicious and normal nodes. The results of the simulation show that the suggested solution greatly enhances network performance by lowering the Routing Overhead Ratio from 1388.04% to 0.73% and the Packet Loss Rate from 74% to 11% while keeping a high Packet Delivery Ratio—up to 93% in different scenarios. These enhancements sustain strong data transmission in dynamic MANET environments, supporting network integrity and reliability.

Innovative grid technology leverages information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance energy efficiency and mitigate losses. This paper introduces a 'novel three-tier hierarchical framework for smart homes within the Internet of Things (IoT)' ecosystem, addressing the current shortage of intelligent solutions that underutilize IoT advantages. Our framework's primary objective is to elevate smart homes to the microgrid level, enabling the seamless integration from the microgrid's renewable distributed energy sources and attaining maximum energy efficiency. In addition to traditional data processing, we propose the application of fog computing in smart homes. Through a rigorous simulation using real smart meter datasets, our study demonstrates that fog computing, mainly when using predictive filtering, may drastically cut down on the amount of data being sent and the load on the home's network. This innovation holds immense potential for revolutionizing energy management and resource allocation in the context of smart homes, thus contributing to a sustainable and efficient future. This research represents a critical step towards harnessing the power of IoT and fog computing in smart grids and homes, offering a promising path towards more intelligent, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient living spaces. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, an increasing number of studies have attempted to extract information from journals that cannot be conveyed in financial statements. Journals are valuable assets that enhance corporate value and companies' competitiveness because they contain abundant information about past transactions. However, only a few studies have quantitatively clarified the value of double-entry bookkeeping and journals. Therefore, finding useful business knowledge in journals is currently difficult for managers and administrators. This study focuses on cross-reference information, which is unique to double-entry bookkeeping and not included in financial statements and trial balances. We then created new features to enhance the explanatory power of future business performance from journals. To achieve this objective, we constructed a graph based on journals, in which cross-reference is represented as edges. We create features unique to journal entry using two methods: network metrics and feature generation by node embedding. Finally, we tested for Granger causality using a vector autoregressive model constructed from created feature and performance. Our experiment showed that we successfully identified Granger causality within the unique features of double-entry journals for all five performance indicators of seven companies. Practitioners can use the identified features to build an alert system for sudden performance declines and facilitate understanding of their business. Future research will be necessary to verify the significance of double-entry bookkeeping and journal entries. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper describes the implementation and evaluation of an RC polyphase filter (RCPF) and circuitry for measuring its frequency characteristics. The integrated circuit is fabricated on a 0.6 µm CMOS process and its supply voltage is 5 V. The integrated circuit includes a filter under test (FUT), a four-phase square wave generator, several analog switches and differential amplifiers to amplify the high-impedance signals of the RCPF. This FUT is a third-order complex RCPF whose passband is 8 − 40 MHz. This paper describes the design of these circuits in detail. This integrated circuit can select two measurement methods by means of external control signals. The first method uses a four-phase square wave. The frequency characteristics are measured by using an on-chip four-phase square wave generator driven by an external clock generator and by a spectrum analyzer tuned to the fundamental frequency. The second method uses an external network analyzer. Furthermore, this integrated circuit is equipped with a calibration circuit to measure the frequency characteristics of the circuitry except FUT by passing through the input / output signals of the FUT. As a result, the frequency characteristics of the FUT itself can be accurately measured. The effectiveness is confirmed through evaluation of the fabricated integrated circuit. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Heart failure (HF) is a complex syndrome that is affected by many factors and causes. It is crucial to early recognize the disease subtypes and the unidentified clinical pathways that give rise to it. Machine learning (ML) is the tool that assist to deal with these challenges and improve the prediction of HF. In this work, the HF risk prediction was implemented by employed ML classifiers, such as Random Forest (RF), Extreme Grading Boosting (XGBoost) and Light Gradient-Boosting Machine (LGBM). We utilized the data from the German epidemiological trial on ankle brachial index - getABI cohort, which includes 6,454 patients. The performance of classifiers was estimated by Accuracy (ACC), Sensitivity, Specificity and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) in mean values for each ML classifier. The results were also interpreted using the Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) approach, the Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) values. Our work reveals that LGBM classifier predict the HF risk within 5 years follow-up in general population with 68 % accuracy. Moreover, the N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) was identified as the most important feature for HF risk prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

Experimentation has been critical and increasingly popular across various domains, such as clinical trials and online platforms, due to its widely recognized benefits. One of the primary objectives of classical experiments is to estimate the average treatment effect (ATE) to inform future decision-making. However, in healthcare and many other settings, treatment effects may be non-stationary, meaning that they can change over time, rendering the traditional experimental design inadequate and the classical static ATE uninformative. In this work, we address the problem of non-stationary experimental design under linear trends by considering two objectives: estimating the dynamic treatment effect and minimizing welfare loss within the experiment. We propose an efficient design that can be customized for optimal estimation error rate, optimal regret rate, or the Pareto optimal trade-off between the two objectives. We establish information-theoretical lower bounds that highlight the inherent challenge in estimating dynamic treatment effects and minimizing welfare loss, and also statistically reveal the fundamental trade-off between them.

This paper describes the design and evaluation of an autoflight controller under maximized crosswind landing scenarios using Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (NDI) and Incremental Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (INDI) control methods. The simulation model is representative of a nonlinear, 6 DOF twin-engined civilian transport aircraft in landing configuration starting 300 meters above the runway. The designed flight controller is of cascaded control structure based upon the time scale separation principle. While only INDI based design is evaluated, each control loop implements both NDI and INDI based design, accompanied with feed forward path control for select loops. The controller is evaluated through multiple Monte Carlo statistical analyses, each set containing 2000 landings, which are performed under widely distributed environmental and system parameters. The designed INDI method based controller as discussed in this paper satisfies all safe landing criteria for crosswind landings of up to 30 knots. © 2025, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. Breast cancer seems to be the most deadly cancer for females globally. Mammographic masse detection is essential for the early diagnosis of breast cancer. The manual detection of breast masses using texture analysis from digital mammograms is hard because of its diverse patterns. Automatic detection of breast masses from mammograms with computer algorithms at early phases could help physicians to avoid unnecessary biopsies. In the current study, we investigated the limitations of texture analysis for mass detection by creating an MR taxon filter bank using Laplacian of Gaussian. We created a deep taxon feature fusion bank for the EfficinetNet DCNN to classify benign and malignant masses. The experimental results were examined on the public CBIS-DDSM and the local PINUM dataset. Our method yielded 0.96 and 0.98 accuracies, respectively. The results findings illustrated that our method significantly outperformed than the MobileNet, AlexNet, DenseNet, and previous studies. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This study uses cryptography to tackle the important problem of data security in cloud computing. Two keys are used in the Dual Key Encryption (DKE) method for both encryption and decryption. DKE employs a public key for the first encryption round before cloud upload and a user-only private key for the second round of encryption. Decryption operates oppositely. When tested and simulated with different file sizes on a CloudAnalyst simulator, DKE operates faster and more efficiently than cryptographic methods such as Triple DES (3DES), AES, RSA, and DES. Thanks to developments in information technology, cloud computing has made several services available online. Data security assurance is still very difficult to achieve, nevertheless. In this context, cryptography is essential and has led to the creation of the novel DKE technology. This technology is not only far more efficient than well-known cryptographic techniques such as 3DES, but it also improves data security.
