Influence of the functional and morphological features of floodplain water bodies on the indicators of water quality

The construction of dams on large rivers significantly changes the hydrological regime. The morphology and functional features of floodplain water bodies have a significant impact on water quality parameters. The electrical conductivity, transparency, water temperature and dissolved oxygen content of 302 water bodies located in the dnipro River floodplain were investigated. The variability of water quality indicators is explained by different sources of water supply to the floodplain reservoirs, as well as by the geological characteristics of the soil. The genesis of lakes of a certain shape is related to the geological and geomorphological conditions of the floodplain, which is the reason for the connection between the functional characteristics of water bodies and water quality indicators in them. Predictors of the probability of oxygen stress are the proximity of the sandy border to the reservoir and the elongated shape of the reservoir. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Parametric spectral analysis methods such as the Prony's method can estimate the frequencies and amplitudes of a signal, conforming to their model, with great precision. At the same time, the addition of noise to the signal can lead to a complete model breakdown which leads to erroneous parameter values. This is especially true for the impulse noise. The article explores several possible algorithms which can be applied to the Prony's method in order to refine the results and make them more noise resistant. Such algorithms include signal segmentation methods where the results of each segment processing influence the final estimate as well as the conceptually related method of point skipping. An approach based on the use of non-Euclidean norms as a measure of the linear algebraic equation system's solution quality is developed and tested. Initially, the methods are applied to model digital signals, comprised of harmonic components with varying complex frequencies and amplitudes. Additive white Gaussian and impulse noise is added to the model signals. The results are then applied to the noisy results of a real-life synthetic aperture synthesis experiment obtained in the intermediate zone of radiation. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The mechanism of discharge of excess surface water in the geological environment is considered on the example of a quarry in the south of Kryvbas. They can lead to dangerous landslide processes in the form of collapses of the sides of pits, dumps, slurries, causing significant damage to the enterprises, to agricultural lands and the population. In 2021, field observations were carried out to assess the impact of mining operations in the quarry on the Ingulets River (the right tributary of the dnipro River) using the methods of electrical exploration (various modifications), natural field and gravity method. Processing of the results of field geophysical observations was carried out by the method of comparative statistical analysis of previously obtained and current data. In the course of research, the impact of the release of huge volumes of water from the Karachun Reservoir into the Ingulets River was recorded and studied, which caused a significant and rapid rise in the water level in the river and waterlogging of the quarry slopes with ground water. The obtained results showed how the hydrogeodynamic process in underground waters occurs during significant surface water irrigation of the sedimentary cover in areas with open and closed fault systems. The obtained results confirmed the possibility of conducting research using the method of natural field to study the mechanism of rapid water saturation with waters of the geological section and ways of their discharge. The method showed the prospects of its application in areas with open and closed fault systems. The NF method is not expensive and operational, which makes it possible to use it at the initial stage of monitoring to identify the zone of detected landslide development. The article deals with the issues aimed at solving the most urgent problem of modern society of organization of quality communication in the conditions of ubiquitous informatization. It is considered the obtaining of expressions, which will increase the efficiency of analysis of microwave integrated devices and the study of pulse distortion in the intercell connections of ultrafast digital integrated circuits. On the basis of the quasi-dynamic approximation for the surface impedance of the microstrip structure, a simplified method of solving the dispersion equation is developed and analytical expressions for analyzing the frequency dependences of the effective dielectric permittivity and the dissipation angle tangent in the microstrip line are obtained in closed form. The expressions provide high accuracy of modeling dispersion properties in the absence of frequency limitations. Absence of frequency limitations allowed to use the obtained expressions for modeling of pulse distortion in inter-element microstrip connections. The results of calculations of dispersion characteristics and distortion of a Gaussian pulse confirming adequacy of modeling are presented. The obtained expressions for modeling the dispersion characteristics of the microstrip line are of high enough accuracy and are applicable in the whole frequency range. The discrepancy with the data of strictly electrodynamic modeling is about 2 percent. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a comprehensive approach to optimizing organizational capital development strategies through the application of a flexible machine learning model. We advance from initial conceptualization to the implementation stage, employing Q-leaning to enhance the selection process of the most effective organizational capital development strategies within the framework of intellectual capital. Our model aims to improve decision-making reliability by employing data-driven techniques. In the final phase of our study, we simulate various alternative strategies for organizational capital development using machine learning techniques. This simulation framework streamlines the process of exploring different strategic options, enabling more informed management decisions. To enhance the machine learning process, we introduce coefficients that influence decision-making, resulting in more accurate and effective outcomes. Our findings emphasize that innovative information potential is a key facet of successful organizational capital development strategies. Furthermore, our approach demonstrates the potency of integrating intellectual capital management mechanisms with other capital types. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Leaks in gaseous storage and supply systems impose security and economic threats that are influenced by the heat exchange. A methodology is proposed to assess thermodynamic changes in a leaky system utilizing a mathematical model for the "pipe-hole" scenario based on the Poiseuille equation for laminar gas leakage with a capillary diameter below 0.1 m. Differential equations are derived to analyze the time-dependent thermodynamic variations of compressed air in the "pipe-hole" system via the energy balance equation. A mathematical model was developed for general case studies of open thermodynamic variable-mass gas systems. The FORTRAN software tool was used to solve the system of differential equations using the Runge-Kutta method, with four orders of accuracy. A specific examination was conducted on a thermodynamic system that lacks a constant gas supply and stationary convective heat exchange in a single-layer gas container with the environment. The ranges of the control parameter variation were considered as follows: air pressure p0 from 150 kPa to 300 kPa and temperature Ta from 15 °C to 25 °C. This study reveals how the density, pressure, and temperature of compressed air vary over time owing to leakage and heat fluxes. It was determined that as initial air pressure decreases from р0 = 150 kPa, the impact of heat flow rates markedly surpasses that of air leakage rates. A potential application of this research could be the software for monitoring devices for high-pressure systems designed for the storage and distribution of gaseous energy carriers. © 2025 The Authors

The possibility of obtaining multilayer cylindrical waveguides by explosion welding is investigated. The fact that the technological welding scheme has a significant impact on the shaping of workpieces and the value of edge effects was established. The studies demonstrated that the nature of wave formation during the manufacture of multilayer cylindrical waveguides from a homogeneous material by explosion welding using a central rod is identical to the wave formation when welding flat multilayer compositions on a rigid base. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.
