Purpose: The numerical study of the drill mud flow speeds field at the working face of a borehole. Substantiation of methodology to calculate the convection heat transfer rates on the surface of a diamond core bit during its cooling. Methodology: Computational fluid dynamics methods (CFD modeling) were used in the course of the study. Findings: The physical and mathematical models of fluid mechanics and heat transfer processes at the working face of a borehole during its boring with diamond core bits are suggested herein. The field of circulating drill mud flow speeds around the diamond core bit at the drilling of rock formation was obtained. Regarding the convective heat exchange, the computer simulation demonstrated that a notable change of flow speed field during the boring occurs throughout the height of the bit. In the course of the bit rotation the flow speed field can be considered uniform alongside the azimuthal direction. The ultimate non-uniformity of the speed field is revealed in the water hole passages of the drilling core bit, which results in its heavier wear. Based on the distribution speed calculation results, the convection heat transfer coefficients were defined throughout the height of the drilling core bit. The study revealed that, owing to significant acceleration of the flow, the most intense heat exchange processes took place in the waterhole passages. originality: The theory of fluid mechanics processes at the working face of a borehole during the boring was further developed. New data were obtained on the distribution of the flow speed field and pressure field in the circulating fluid at the bottom-hole area. The non-uniform nature of the fields was demonstrated herein. It is shown that, due to the locally uniform field of speeds distribution, it is possible to assume that the bit convection heat exchange ratios are constant in the certain areas. The time delays of pulses reflected from periodic and non-periodic Bragg layered structures have been investigated. The specific structures such as Bragg reflectors and structures with chirp variation of thickness of the 'period' have been considered. The calculation has been carried out under the conditions that carrier frequency is in the vicinity of the Bragg resonance values. The parameters of interpolating models have been found by methods Prony and continued fractions. © 2016 IEEE.

The paper discusses some properties of photogrammetric imagery of urban areas, which allows you to create a fairly simple method for the detection of structures without altitude information using. The algorithm of step-by-step selection of buildings “by contradiction” is offered. The resultant algorithm partially copes with the task, but has some problem places, in particular segments with an earth surface and a considerable quantity of motor vehicles.

The paper explores the structure, phase composition and magnetic properties of multicomponent high-entropy Al-Cu-Fe-Ni-Si films. This alloy system is characterized by the absence of expensive components, such as Co, V, Mo, Cr, usually used for the production of high-entropy alloys while its characteristics are not inferior to those of more expensive alloys. The films were fabricated by the known technique of splat-quenching. A cooling rate estimated by film thickness was ~ 10 6 K/s. Experimental results reveal that the studied films except the Al 0.5 CuFeNi one are multiphase, nanocrystalline, with the structure consisting of disordered BCC and FCC solid solutions. The Al 0.5 CuFeNi film has only FCC phase. The leading role in determining the type of solid solution formed in the studied high-entropy films obviously plays an element with the highest melting point. All of the investigated multicomponent films are soft-magnetic materials as indicated by low values of coercivity.

This work is devoted to shadow detection and removal from very high resolution (VHR) satellite images. As an example, a WorldView-2 satellite image of an urban area was processed. The presence of shadows can cause a loss of a significant part of useful information. To restore illumination in shadowed areas and increase image quality, we have developed an efficient shadow removal algorithm. In order to obtain a shadow mask we used color transformation and thresholding. To remove shadows, a shadow formation model is used.

The time delay and widening of chirped Gaussian pulses (CGP) reflected from non-periodic Bragg layered structures have been investigated. The specific structures such as Bragg mirrors, resonators, and structures with chirp variation of thickness of the "period" have been considered. The calculation has been carried out under the conditions that carrier frequency is in the vicinity of the Bragg resonance values. Integral (mass center) and differential (group) estimates of the delay time and widening have been compared. The conditions for the appearance of anomalous (negative) mass center delay of the reflected pulses have been determined. The shape transformations of pulses illuminating periodic and quasiperiodic apodized Bragg reflectors have been under consideration. Spatial apodization of permittivity contrast yields much smaller shape deformation of the transmitted wave upon carrier frequency near the edges of reflection band, as well in Bragg reflection band, in comparison with phenomena in similar periodic structures.

This paper presents a design and its implementation of our automatic vehicle that travels outdoors without drivers. Users program the routes by our proposed smartphone application which routes are from Google map API. The vehicle applies the sensors of GPS, LiDAR, and cameras to direct the driving path. The sonars are also applied to the collision prevention in short distance. Based on the restriction of traffic rules, the proposed vehicle be used in close area transportation, such as the campuses and factories.

Propagation of LE waves in rectangular waveguides with non-periodical corrugation of the wall are examined. The boundary-value problem is solved by the Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolsky asymptotic method. Mutual conversions of two wave modes propagating in such waveguides are investigated. Coupling coefficients are obtained in analytical form for some particular cases.
