Using the tools of constructive-synthesizing modeling, constructors of fractal time series which determine the location, magnitude and rate of damping of lighting discharges are developed. Model video images of lightning in the thunderstorm front are formed according to constructors' implementation. The adequacy of the model is verified by comparison of the model video image with the same produced by NASA satellite.

Authors have developed a method of control over one of the main technological processes of manufacturing foil solar panels, i.e., burning tracks in the layers of semiconductor material and insulation. The proposed method is based on neural networks trained directly on the control object. This eliminates the laborious process of identifying the parameters of the control object mathematical model and the impact of its error on the training outcomes. To clarify the conditions for optimizing a certain law for generating the control action by neural networks various laws of control have been simulated. It's established that laws of control can be changed according to the current situation of the control object. Simulation outcomes proofed that the most efficient is the system with the PI- controller.

Sorting humps are the main technical means providing the breaking- and making-up of freight trains. Automation of sorting process by implementing microprocessor control systems is the main direction of increasing hump yard capacity, enhancement of safety in trains breaking-up, improvement of working conditions on hump yards. However, for wider introduction of such systems at the humps, it is necessary to reduce their cost. One of the main tasks of hump control systems is the determination of the optimal cars exit speeds from the retarders. Its solution is significantly complicated because of the uncertainty of cars rolling resistance coefficient, wind velocity and direction, retarder control errors. The paper is aimed at solving the problem of searching for such cars exit speeds from the retarders that provide the longest time intervals between them at the switches. Implementation of this method will make it possible to improve the quality of sorting process as a whole by improving the software of microprocessor control systems for automatic humping, rather than by increasing their technical facilities, which as a result will reduce the cost of their construction and operation. The research results, when solving the problem of searching for cars exit speeds from the retarders, allow us to move from searching for the maximum of a nonlinear non-smooth function of two variables to solution of an equation with one variable, which significantly accelerates and simplifies the solution to the problem.

Обґрунтовано необхідність використання методів ідентифікації у разі прогнозуванні процесів у складних по- тужних стохастичних пристроях систем електричного транспорту.. В якості ідентифікаційної моделі елек- трорухомого складу ( замість ідеального джерела струму) запропоновано використовувати імпульсну перехід- ну функцію. На основі кореляційної теорії випадкових процесів, якими є напруги і струми в системах електрич- ного транспорту, отримано аналітичний вираз кореляційного інтегрального рівняння у формі рівняння Вінера- Хопфа, розв'язання якого дає можливість отримати імпульсну перехідну функцію. Розглянуто методи розв'язання зазначеного рівняння. Необхідні для розв'язання інтегрального рівняння авто- і взаємнокореляційна функції стохастичних процесів напруг і струмів в системі отримуються експериментальним способом на дію- чих ділянках залізниць. Здійснено практичне визначення імпульсної перехідної функції як моделі прогнозування для електровозів постійного струму, що експлуатуються на електрифікованих ділянках Придніпровської заліз- ниці. З цією метою здійснено моніторинг стохастичних процесів напруги і тягового струму в реальних умовах експлуатації. Імпульсні перехідні функції отримані у вигляді експоненціальних функцій, показано їхню адекват- ність та «універсальність» як моделей прогнозування. Бібл.

Today Ukraine's railways have significant problems due to cargo thefts during both their transportation and at train stops. Large losses of railways in this case require intensifying the fight against these crimes. The point of the research is that for the first time, in order to combat the encroachment on the cargo, it is proposed to create a network of weigh checkpoints (WCP) on the railroad. Such WCP network automatically controls the actual weight of goods in cars along the train without moving them, and compares it with the accompanying data documents for cargo. Then results of the control are transmitted in the direction of train movement via electronic communication. In the case of a discrepancy between the indications of WCP device and the accompanying information about the load, there is a fixed shortage of cargo in the carriage. The optimization of WCP general demand on the railways in practice enables to use the research carried out by law enforcement officers as means for the effectively combat the railway crime.

Determination of amplitude levels of the piecewise constant signal by using polynomial approximation

A new approach to determining the amplitude levels of piecewise constant signal has been proposed that is based on using its multiplicative model and solving the problem of polynomial approximation. In case of the absence of noise, the statement of polynomial approximation problem is based on the requirement of exact match of the current signal value with the amplitude value of one of its levels. In case of the presence of ordinary additive noise, the problem statement is based on the least squares criterion, while the solution of problem is presented in the analytical form. For the case of the presence of pulse-type noise, the problem statement is based on the minimum duration criterion, while the problem solution is achieved numerically by an appropriate functional minimization in unknown amplitudes of levels. The case of binary piecewise constant signal is considered in detail. The results of numerical simulation are presented for the cases, where the binary signal is distorted by ordinary additive noise with Gaussian distribution law and the pulse-type noise with the Cauchy distribution law. © 2017, Allerton Press, Inc.

The analytical method for the purpose of analyzing the transient processes occurring in the power traction circuits of DC electric transport systems allowing to take into account existing stochastic character of electric traction voltages and currents has been proposed. The method is based on using a modified form of Duhamel's integral adapted to the theory of random processes, in which the weight function is determined by the solution of the Wiener-Hopf correlation integral equation. Based on relationships of the proposed method the numerical calculations of transient stochastic characteristics (the function of mathematical expectation, the function of correlation, root-mean square deviation and dispersion) of the locomotive current in freight train operation of the Prydniprovsk railway were carried out.

The modernization of machines for compaction of soil on a modular basis has the following advantages: some of their structural elements (working equipment and working elements) can be performed as unified modular units, from which, depending on the technological requirements, it is possible to assemble the required configuration of the sealing machine;the initial state of the machine does not deteriorate, to which it is easy to return;the nomenclature of structural elements and machines in general decreases, as the machine can be completed with variable modules, which leads to an improvement in their quality. When consolidating the soil massive use static, dynamic and combined action on the soil in the form of rollers, vibro-and ramboards. Machines of the boottype are classified into light, medium and heavy, which determines the order of its application. It is obvious that the reduction of technology for the process of soil compaction is possible due to the creation of machines that can change the intensity of the impact on the soil in a wide range. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2018.

The results of the conducted researches on operating, physical and mechanical properties of crushed stone of 40-70 mm fraction are presented in the article as well as the results of the comparison of the given fraction with the fraction of 25-60 mm and determination of the former fraction usage for the ballast with the purpose of more rational fund use during railway repair works. The conducted researches of 40-70 mm fraction of crushed stone allowed receiving: – actual values of technical indices of the product and adopted technical decisions;– conformity of the product with the operating conditions as well as physical and mechanical properties during track maintenance;– ability to perform tests;– comparison of physical, mechanical and operational properties of crushed stone of 40-70 mm fraction with the crushed stone of 25-60 mm fraction. © Transport Means - Proceedings of the International Conference. The paper deals with the determination of spectrum composition of traction current at the a. c. and d. c. traction. The most dangerous interferences are 50, 75 and 100 Hz harmonics for normal work of rail circuits at the d. c. traction. The harmonics, coinciding with the code frequency (25 Hz), are inadmissible for the rail circuits of railway section at the a. c. traction. The station rail circuits are protected from interference well enough. ©2018 IEEE.
