Implementation of organic farming system and consumer satisfaction

The research objectives are: (1) to analyse the implementation of organic farming of Boyolali farmers. (2) to find out consumer satisfaction level of organic rice in Surakarta and *** research location was determined purposively in Dlingo Village, Boyolali and Surakarta. This research used qualitative method with interactive data analysis model of Miles and Huberman and descriptive analysis. The research resulted in the application of organic farming systems by the farmers in the following ways: (a) the selection of locations not contaminated with chemicals, (b) appropriate local types of rice plant, (c) programming of appropriate crop rotation, (d) processing soil with tools not contaminated with chemicals, (e) intermitten irrigation, (f) use of fermented compost, (g) control of pests with natural enemies and vegetable pesticides, (h) appropriate post-harvest handling, and (i) organic rice marketed with the packaging that attaches the SNI organiklogo. The results of research on the level of consumer satisfaction with organic rice are: (a) the quality of the organic rice is 90.41% meaning that the consumers are satisfied; (b) the availability of the organic rice is 73% meaning that the consumers are satisfied; and (c) the price of the organic rice is 60% meaning that the consumers are dissatisfied.

With advancements in the science of detection and attribution studies, the influence of climate change over many events has now been quantified. Because of the rapidly increasing temperatures, vulnerable populations (adults older than 65 years, and children younger than one year of age) were exposed to 3·7 billion more heatwave days in 2021 than annually in 1986–2005 (indicator 1.1.2), and heat-related deaths increased by 68% between 2000–04 and 2017–21 (indicator 1.1.5), a death toll that was significantly exacerbated by the confluence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the local cooling and overall health benefits of urban greenspaces, only 277 (27%) of 1038 global urban centres were at least moderately green in 2021 (indicator 2.2.3), and the number of households with air conditioning increased by 66% from 2000 to 2020, a maladaptive response that worsens the energy crisis and further increases urban heat, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Despite substantial declines since 2000, lower respiratory infections (LRIs), diarrhoeal diseases, and malaria remain among the leading causes of nonfatal and fatal disease burden for children under 5 years of age (under 5), primarily in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The spatial burden of each of these diseases has been estimated subnationally across SSA, yet no prior analyses have examined the pattern of their combined burden. Here we synthesise subnational estimates of the burden of LRIs, diarrhoea, and malaria in children under-5 from 2000 to 2017 for 43 sub-Saharan countries. Some units faced a relatively equal burden from each of the three diseases, while others had one or two dominant sources of unit-level burden, with no consistent pattern geographically across the entire subcontinent. Using a subnational counterfactual analysis, we show that nearly 300 million DALYs could have been averted since 2000 by raising all units to their national average. Our findings are directly relevant for decision-makers in determining which and targeting where the most appropriate interventions are for increasing child survival. © 2022, The Author(s).

The term “polymath” refers to a person whose expertise approaches different subject areas, to rely on complex packages of knowledge for solving problems. Famous polymaths from history include Galileo Galilei, Leonardo da Vinci, Mozart, and Albert Einstein;individuals that have impacted science, arts, humanities, and our society for centuries. However, from a neuropsychological point of view and social perspective, it is unclear whether these gifted subjects developed their abilities because of inherited neurobiological or anatomical differences when compared to average people, or their skills and functional advantages were a result of specific environmental factors or stimulus inducing brain plasticity changes that reflect in cognitive improvements. In this discussion report, we present literature evidence from basic health sciences supporting the hypothesis that polymaths may be “born” based on their individual genetic characteristics but also “trained” by surrounding environmental factors or stimulus. At the functional level, polymaths may have a number advantages regarding creativity, resilience, and versatility. Since educational strategies are nowadays more focused on specialization rather than developing multidisciplinary professionals for the future, one could speculate whether these conventional approaches should be updated to stimulate polymathy in future generations. © 2018, Springer Science+Business Media B.V., part of Springer Nature.

Memorizing Al Quran Improves Quality of Life Stroke Patients with Motoric Aphasia Disorders

Background and purpose. Empowering stroke patients with motor aphasia through memorizing the Al Quran to improve quality of life. Stroke causes neurological disorders that cause changes in quality of life. Quality of life is healthy physically, mentally, socially, environmentally and healthily, regardless of illness and can maintain health status. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of memorizing the Al Quran and family support on stroke patients with motor aphasia disorder on functional communication skills, level of independence and quality of life. Materials and methods. The study was conducted at Ja’far Medika General Hospital Karanganyar, Central Java, Indonesia. The number of subjects was 102 stroke patients with motor aphasia, as evidenced by the results of head CT scan. Type of quantitative research, using experimental design, simple randomized the pretest-posttest control group design. Results. The effect of memorizing the Al Quran, family support, functional communication skills and the level of independence of the combined quality of life in stroke patients with motor aphasia impairment got the value of r square = 0.982 with p = 0.000 (p <0.001) which means that memorizing the Al Quran, support family, functional communication skills and level of independence affect the quality of life combined in stroke patients with motoric aphasia with very strong levels. Or it can be said that 98.2% of the quality of life is influenced by memorizing the Al Quran, family support, functional communication skills and level of independence. Partially it is known that the most influential effect on the quality of life in stroke patients with motor aphasia is memorizing Al Quran (r = 0.735; p = 0.000) compared to family support (r = 0.321; p = 0.000), while functional communication skills (r = 0.017; p = 0.618) and independence (r = 0.035; p = 0.305) had no significant effect on quality of life. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in health surveillance systems, disease prevention, and treatment globally. Among the many factors that might have led to these gaps is the issue of the financing of national health systems, especially in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as a robust global system for pandemic preparedness. We aimed to provide a comparative assessment of global health spending at the onset of the pandemic;characterise the amount of development assistance for pandemic preparedness and response disbursed in the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic;and examine expectations for future health spending and put into context the expected need for investment in pandemic preparedness. Methods: In this analysis of global health spending between 1990 and 2021, and prediction from 2021 to 2026, we estimated four sources of health spending: development assistance for health (DAH), government spending, out-of-pocket spending, and prepaid private spending across 204 countries and territories. We used the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and development (OECD)'s Creditor Reporting System (CRS) and the WHO Global Health Expenditure Database (GHED) to estimate spending. We estimated development assistance for general health, COVID-19 response, and pandemic preparedness and response using a keyword search. Health spending estimates were combined with estimates of resources needed for pandemic prevention and preparedness to analyse future health spending patterns, relative to need. Findings: In 2019, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$9·2 trillion (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 9·1–9·3) was spent on health worldwide. We found great disparities in the amount of resources devoted to health, with high-income countries spending $7·3 trillion (95% UI 7·2–7·4) in 2019;293·7 times the $24·8 billion (95% UI 24·3–25·3) spent by low-income countries in 2019. This research conducted to explore the role of Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah in the context of overcoming and eliminating tuberculosis (TB) through advocation, communication, social mobilization and sustainability of the community of TB care in Makassar city. This research used a qualitative approach through a deep interview with the key informant, namely coordinator and advocacy, communication, social mobilization staff program community in the TB care unit of south Sulawesi Aisyiyah. The purposive technique is used in informant selection to get more accurate data and the most suitable information source. This research produced a model of implementation in advocation, communication, social mobilization and program continuation activity in Aisyiyah Makassar TB care community. This research also described and identified the elements (institution or agency) involved in the implementation of Aisyiyah Makassar TB care community. The overall advocacy activity is an effort to present sustainable TB prevention or elimination.

Summary Background Across low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), one in ten deaths in children younger than 5 years is attributable to diarrhoea. The substantial between-country variation in both diarrhoea incidence and mortality is attributable to interventions that protect children, prevent infection, and treat disease. Identifying subnational regions with the highest burden and mapping associated risk factors can aid in reducing preventable childhood *** We used Bayesian model-based geostatistics and a geolocated dataset comprising 15 072 746 children younger than 5 years from 466 surveys in 94 LMICs, in combination with findings of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2017, to estimate posterior distributions of diarrhoea prevalence, incidence, and mortality from 2000 to 2017. From these data, we estimated the burden of diarrhoea at varying subnational levels (termed units) by spatially aggregating draws, and we investigated the drivers of subnational patterns by creating aggregated risk factor *** The greatest declines in diarrhoeal mortality were seen in south and southeast Asia and South America, where 54·0% (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 38·1-65·8), 17·4% (7·7-28·4), and 59·5% (34·2-86·9) of units, respectively, recorded decreases in deaths from diarrhoea greater than 10%. Although children in much of Africa remain at high risk of death due to diarrhoea, regions with the most deaths were outside Africa, with the highest mortality units located in Pakistan. Indonesia showed the greatest within-country geographical inequality; some regions had mortality rates nearly four times the average country rate. Reductions in mortality were correlated to improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) or reductions in child growth failure (CGF).
