Urbach:received his B.A. degree in Chemistry from Indiana University in 1948 his M.A. degree in Physical Chemistry from Columbia University in 1950 his Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from Case-Western Reserve University in 1953 and his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from The George Washington University in 1976. After receiving his doctorate he was employed by Olin Mathieson Corporation Niagara Falls N. Y. as a Group Leader and Research Chemist on rocket fuels borane chemistry and the reactions of oxygen atoms with ozone. In 1959 he joined the United Technology Research Laboratories East Hartford Conn. as a Senior Research Scientist working in the area of fuel cells and electrochemistry. Presently he is a Scientific Staff Assistant in the Power Systems Division David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center where since 1965 he has performed research and development studies on fuel cells gas turbines biphase turbines and MHD systems. Additionally Dr. Urbach was a Consultant to the Artificial Heart Program of the National Heart and Lung Institute NIH and presently is a member of the New York Academy of Science Sigma Xi American Chemical Society Electrochemical Society American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. THE CARRIER TEST BED: A Proposed Approach to Modern Naval Air Development

作者: MULQUIN, JAMES J. USNR THE AUTHOR:received degrees in Pre-Law (Georgetown Univ.) and Aeronautical Engineering (Catholic Univ.). His active duty in the Navy includes service in submarines during the Korean War a two-year tour in USS SHADWELL (LSD-15) and participation in naval exercises in the Canadian Arctic and the Caribbean. Following release from active duty he specialized in the research and development of naval weapons systems both with government and private industry. He was previously Marketing Research Manager of Washington Technological Associates Inc. Rockville Maryland involved in the Polaris program underway logistics transfer and a variety of Navy operational analyses. Since joining Naval Air Systems Command (formerly BuWeps) in 1963 he has worked in the field of carrier aircraft operation at sea aircraft launching and recovery systems modularized shipboard aviation support and advanced carrier aviation “survivability” techniques. He is currently the Research and Technology Project Officer for Carrier Test Bed development.

Prior to his current employment his career was in private industry in the aerospace and the aircushion vehicle fields. With industry he was the Technical Director of the SKMR-1 Test Program and was later involved in the Army and Navy SK-5 Programs as well as the SES 100B test craft. With the Systems Development Department of DWTNSRDC he was the Technical Manager of the ARPA Arctic SEV Program but now he is in the Advanced Concepts Office. In addition to ASNE he is a member of SNAME and AIAA and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Ohio. Mr. Charles W. Harry:graduated from the University of Virginia in 1957 with an aeronautical option to his Mechanical Engineers degree. He has since been an employee of the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center (DWTNSRDC). Following wind-tunnel research on several V/STOL aircraft he participated in aerodynamic research on surface effect phenomena for both aircushion and wing-in-ground-effect vehicles. He served as Project Engineer and Test Pilot for the XR-3 one of the first U.S. aircushion vehicles with non-flexible sidehulls. He participated in establishing and managing the research and development of the aero-hydro technology for the then Joint Surface Effect Ship Program Office. More recently he was the Manager Technology Development for the Arctic SEV Program and is presently a member of the Advanced Concepts Office of the System Development Department at the DWTNSRDC.

Before joining ARINC Research he worked for the newly formed Litton Advanced Marine Technology Division. where as Manager System Engineering and Analysis and Director System Assurance he had responsibilities in a variety of areas including Reliability Maintainability Human. Engineering System Safety Operations Analysis and the operational and maintenance training of LHA I and DD 963 Class Navy crews. Mr. Reines received his BS degree from Columbia University in 1951 after his service in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate/Combat Air Crewman. During his 27–year career since then he has worked in the automotive and aerospace industries and as a Consultant to industry and the military. Mr. John P. McCormickis a Principal Engineer and Group Manager in ARINC Research Corporation's Ships and Ordnance Division. He has been with ARINC Research since 1963 when he joined the Company to participate in reliability studies of NASA's SATURN Launch Vehicle. He was Project Leader of a comprehensive study of the Air Force Jet Engine Maintenance Management Program has conducted a number of studies involving the use of Army Maintenance Data and has considerable experience in the use and analysis of Navy Maintenance Data. Currently he is managing a number of projects involving the analysis of Navy Destroyer and Submarine Maintenance Information. Mr. McCormick received his BS degree in Physics from St. Bonaventure University in 1959. after which he was employed by the U.S. Naval Propellant Plant as an Internal Ballistics Specialist.
