The disposal of eggshells in landfills presents an ongoing global environmental issue that demands immediate attention. However, a promising solution lies in utilizing eggshells as modifiers in bitumen binders, offering a sustainable approach to alleviating this burden. This study focuses on crushing eggshells to produce eggshell ash, which is then explored as a potential modifier in bitumen binders. The objective is to evaluate the properties of modified bitumen binders incorporating eggshell waste sourced from the food industry and examine their application in bitumen engineering. Employing a 60/70 penetration-grade asphalt binder as the research foundation, the optimal weight percentage of eggshell ash in the bitumen is determined, considering four levels (5%, 7%, 10%, and 12%) and two different heating temperatures (100°C and 200°C). Several tests are conducted to comprehensively evaluate the eggshell ash, including SEM-EDS and FTIR analyses, providing valuable technical insights into its properties. Additionally, dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) measurements are employed to analyze the characteristics of the bitumen incorporating eggshell ash. The primary oxide group present in the eggshell ash is calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Notably, higher concentrations of eggshell ash enhance the resistance of bitumen binders to high temperatures, as indicated by the penetration index results. Furthermore, DSR testing reveals that the addition of eggshell ash significantly increases the rigidity of the bitumen binders, resulting in improved resistance to deformation. © 2023, The Authors. The limited supply of clean water led to some residents in the city, as well as business and trade areas using underground water. Optimization of land used in the development of new towns and expanded impervious land surface, thus reducing infiltration capacity, resulting in an increased volume of runoff. The use of underground water and the reduced infiltration of rainwater resulted in a decrease in the underground water table. To maintain the underground water table and preventing land subsidence resulted from the use of underground water as raw material for clean water. The effort required is how doing underground water conservation. This paper discusses the development of new towns to assess the natural landscape as underground water conservation efforts on the development of the new town. The research method uses a quantitative approach to calculate the potential runoff using a soil conservation service, while to analyze the trend of changes in land cover using temporal spatial analysis, using descriptive analysis. The data used satellite imagery. The study found open green spaces, water bodies, and infrastructure in the form of green corridors can reduce runoff and maintain the underground water table.

This study evaluates the flood hazard index in Kuala Langsa Village, Langsa City, Aceh, a region prone to frequent flooding due to its low-lying coastal location in eastern Aceh. It serves as a crucial link between North Sumatra and Aceh provinces. The area's significance underscores the importance of understanding and mitigating flood risks. By utilizing the coupled 1D/2D Hydraulic model, flood hazards are accurately predicted and mapped. The field data collection (as calibration) measures the maximum tidal water level based on information from residents affected by flooding on the land surface under their houses. Hydrological conditions during the December 2017 flood event are simulated using HEC-HMS. Hydraulic conditions are evaluated using HEC-RAS 6.4.1. The research aims to assess the flood hazard index in Kuala Langsa Village under spring tide conditions, considering variations in base flow and flood flow with return periods of 2 and 50 years upstream. The main results show that an FHI >2.62 (high) covers an area of 169.74 ha, 2.62 > FHI >2.23 (moderate) encompasses 172.60 ha, and FHI <2.23 (low) accounts for 222.32 ha. During the Q50 upstream flood, there was an increase in flood extent: low by 61.20 %, medium by 25.32 %, and high by 5.57 %. These findings deepen our understanding of estuary flood mechanisms and emphasize the importance of developing more effective adaptation strategies to reduce flood risks in the future. © 2024 The Authors

The effect of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) on characteristics of asphalt concrete with dry and wet mixing process

Plastic waste in Indonesia reaches 64 million tons per year which 3.2 million tons are disposed to the sea. Therefore, a solution is needed to solve plastic waste problem in Indonesia. The objectives of the study is to know the effect of using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) waste on characteristics of asphalt concrete AC - WC based on the Marshall Test, compare the characteristics produced based on dry and wet mixing process, and evaluate whether the test results fulfil Bina Marga Specification 2018. By the result of wet process, stability value of 7% HDPE increased up to 38.08% and 8% LDPE content increased up to 22.03% and for the dry process, 9% HDPE and 11% LDPE increase the stability value up to 24.61% and 19.30% respectively. The use of HDPE or LDPE can increase stability of asphalt concrete mixing both in dry and wet process. We can use up to 8.7 ton of plastic waste into 1 km of 7-meter-wide asphalt pavement road.

Where the criteria are taken from the tender for the Construction Design and Build project of the State Building using multi-criteria analysis, by conducting an expert interview, namely to the Construction Management Consultant and Committing Officer (PPK). Based on research using indicators of education, experience, certification, behavior and culture. the results obtained are appropriate Project Manager qualification criteria for the Design and Construction of State Buildings.

Implementation of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Concept To Increase Public Transportation User in the city of Jakarta

Transit Oriented Development, hereinafter referred to as TOD, is a concept of regional development based and centered on a mass public transit station, which accommodates new growth into a mixed area with an area of 350 m to 700 m from the center of the area that is integrated with the area around it through the use of ground surface space, elevated space and underground. In the existing conditions in the field and the lack of availability of public transport services to the public there are still lacks of lack of attention from transportation providers, one of which is the interconnection and integration of public transport, where the facilities and infrastructure for moving public transportation are inadequate at the beginning and end of a trip (first mile and last mile). smooth traffic is needed to meet the target of public transport services. Planning and reevaluating traffic networks and implementing transportation policies that can support the use of public transportation. The need for integration of public transportation in order to reduce travel time, as well as to improve the standard of living of the people, then based on these considerations, the Development of DKI Jakarta TOD needs to be done as an effort to realize healthy transportation.

On a Pickup to Delivery Drone Routing Problem: Models and Algorithms

We present a new variant of the Pickup and Delivery Routing problem. Given a set of customers, facilities, a depot, and a homogeneous fleet of drones, the Pickup to Delivery Drone Routing Problem (PDDRP) aims to find a drone scheduling such that a drone serves the customer’s order from a set of available facilities. Each drone starts in the depot, flies to pick the customer’s order in a facility, and continues its flight to deliver the parcel to a customer. Then, the drone begins another service, and once its last service is completed, it returns to the depot. The objective is to minimize the makespan associated with the drone fleet. The layer of facilities forcing drones to visit one of them to pick the parcel makes the problem different from traditional pickup and delivery routing problems. We present threemixed-linear programming models to obtain optimal solutions for the problem. The first model is related to the multiple Traveling Salesman Problem (m-TSP), the second is associated with the Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem (PMS), and the third was developed specifically for the new *** the high computational complexity of the PDDRP, we design a Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP) to find near-optimal solutions when exact approaches cannot achieve (near) optimal solutions. Computational experiments show that a commercial solver could solve only small problem instances. GRASP can find reasonable solutions in a short time when medium and large instance sizes need to be solved. Finally, we show that some routing problems for delivery, allowing truck-drone collaboration, could be formulated as an extension of PMS. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Self-driving cars have gained significant attention in recent years. Real-time object detection is a critical component of their perception system. One of the main challenges in developing safe and efficient self-driving cars lies in accurately and in real-time detecting objects in diverse and complex traffic environments. This paper presents the performance evaluation of real-time object detection of YOLOv8 models, a state-of-the-art deep learning framework for self-driving cars in mixed traffic environments. The objective is to assess the extent of YOLOv8's object detection capabilities can be used for self-driving car within complex real-world traffic scenarios. The experimental results show that the accuracy of YOLOv8 during normal daylight scenarios ranges from $0.60 \sim 0.80$. In contrast, the accuracy values obtained in night scenarios fall between $0.15 \sim 0.25$. Similarly, the F-Measure of YOLOv8 models under daylight conditions ranges from $0.75 \sim 0.87$. Conversely, the F-Measure in night conditions falls between $0.27 \sim 0.46$. Based on our thorough evaluation results, YOLOv8 has demonstrated its robustness in detecting objects. However, the algorithm requires improvement to effectively handle the challenges of self-driving cars' object detection systems in mixed traffic, such as diverse object classifications, small-scale objects, fast-moving objects, blur, glare, and low-light illumination, particularly in night-time scenarios.

Aerobic biodegradation of vapor-phase petroleum hydrocarbons was evaluated in an intact soil core from the site of an aviation gasoline release. An unsaturated zone soil core was subjected to a flow of nitrogen gas, oxygen, water vapor and vapor-phase hydrocarbons in a configuration analogous to a biofilter or an in situ bioventing or sparging situation. The vertical profiles of vapor-phase hydrocarbon concentration in the soil core were determined by gas chromatography of vapor samples. Biodegradation reduced low influent hydrocarbon concentrations by 45 to 92 percent over a 0.6-m interval of an intact soil core. The estimated total hydrocarbon concentration was reduced by 75 percent from 26 to 7 parts per million. Steady-state concentrations were input to a simple analytical model balancing advection and first-order biodegradation of hydrocarbons. First-order rate constants for the major hydrocarbon compounds were used to calibrate the model to the concentration profiles. Rate constants for the seven individual hydrocarbon compounds varied by a factor of 4. Compounds with lower molecular weights, fewer methyl groups, and no quaternary carbons tended to have higher rate constants. the fist-order rate constants were consistent with kinetic parameters determined from both microcosm and tubing cluster studies at the field site.
