It is a hard job for two teachers to deal with 30 students in a preschool classroom in Taiwan. Teachers need to take photos and manage paper documents related to each student's activities and assessments, then print all of them to show to their parents. This is not an efficient and effective working style. In order to support e-education and mitigate these issues in the education domain via application of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, this paper thoroughly investigates appropriate features of previous studies related to e-education and the PDCA computing system. It then proposes the design of an online information system for the "check" stage in the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle or OISC for evaluating Taiwanese preschool students' learning. The design is simple and equipped with current technologies such as mobile applications. We provided the details of all components and technologies in this design and how the design works, which is arranged for participants to use as a blueprint of an e-education system such as OISC that can be built upon the participants' requirements. We believe that a system based on our design can help teachers to work effectively and efficiently. Thus, this paper can be regarded as an example of adopting an e-education approach to evaluating and enhancing students' learning performance. © 2019 ACM.

It was not until 2016 that Taiwan has started to formulate the Youth Education and Employment Saving Accounts program. Applying Kingdon's (1984) multiple streams approach, the study firstly investigates the policy process of the program. The findings indicate that students usually entered universities right after school graduation without having a chance for self-exploration. And the reform of higher education has led to the dilution of university degrees. These became problem issues for the government. Incorporating different policy communities of administrative ministries, legislative divisions, schools and industries, the ruling party facilitated the program creation. Various projects and accompanying measures were drafted for the program. Playing the role of policy entrepreneur, the minister of education triggered the program. When the aforementioned streams of problem, politics and policy merged, the program thereafter was launched in 2017. Secondly, the study aimed to explore the program participation. Methods such as interviews and analysis of statistics, documents and literature, were employed. The study shows that the program applicants in the workplace did not reach the expected amount. Additionally, the magnitude of students entering the track of workplace was much greater than that of students choosing to continue education. It also revealed the inequalities of social classes. Finally, the implications of the study for the program evaluation and betterment were provided.

Teachers in Middle School Sub Rayon 23 Medan still has low competence in making learning media. The creative ideas from the science teacher have not yet emerged, the teacher's understanding of making the learning media expansion is still minimal, the teacher has not been motivated to make the media curiosity about the media is still low. This study aims to find out how to improve teacher competencies in making science learning media, especially expansion. The action hypothesis in this study is the teacher's competence in making science learning media possible improved through workshops. The subjects of the study were 9 people of Natural Sciences at Sub Rayon 23 Junior High School in Medan. The object of research is learning media especially expansion. Media Learning IPA is Swelling Solids of goods secondhand or materials that price it cheap so it can be affordable. The results of the data analysis makes learning media Expansion Solids in cycle 1 at 29.33 (Less), Cycle 2 at 64.00 (Good), and meeting 3 at 84.89 (Very good). Increase in the average value of teacher competence: 84.89%-29.33% = 55.56%. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed that 95.00% of the science teachers of the Sub- Rayon 23 Junior High School in Medan strongly agreed to make the learning media for Solid Substance Expansion through workshops conducted by researchers because of their increased competence.

Training and capacity building for students in engineering programs, including developing competencies and skills in mathematics, have been well-established in literature. There is less known about lowering rates of desertion (understood as the non-completion of an academic program). While it is generally agreed that there are multiple causes (individual, institutional, and state), several authors suggest that low academic results and low motivation in an educational process are important causes. In the case of Santo Tomás University, the site of study for this research project, the desertion index in engineering programs is close to 45%. The course with the highest failure rates is introductory mathematics (offered in the first year). Given this context, this research project proposed innovative pedagogical strategies and mediations , targeting the motivation indexes of university-aged students enrolled in mathematics courses. Game-based learning and mixed methods were employed to design a set of two didactic strategies: (A) Kahoot Online Testing Tool, and (B) Online Crossword. The target population was represented by 20 students enrolled in a differential calculus course, as part of the first-year engineering program. For benchmarking purposes, the participants were given a diagnostic calculus test. Next, an adaptation of Instructional Material Motivation Survey was applied, which allowed me to measure the dimensions of attention, confidence, satisfaction, and relevance . The results demonstrated that the pedagogical innovation positively impacted student motivation. The most significant results include the importance of planning rigorous learning activities, incorporating problems from the real student environment, and the importance of offering immediate feedback.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the P4 suicide screener in a multinational sample. The primary goal was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale and investigate its convergent validity by analyzing its correlation with depression, anxiety, and substance use. Study design: The study design is a cross-sectional self-report study conducted across 42 countries. Methods: A cross-sectional, self-report study was conducted in 42 countries, with a total of 82,243 participants included in the final data set. Results: The study provides an overview of suicide ideation rates across 42 countries and confirms the structural validity of the P4 screener. The findings indicated that sexual and gender minority individuals exhibited higher rates of suicidal ideation. The P4 screener showed adequate reliability, convergence, and discriminant validity, and a cutoff score of 1 is recommended to identify individuals at risk of suicidal behavior. Conclusions: The study supports the reliability and validity of the P4 suicide screener across 42 diverse countries, highlighting the importance of using a cross-cultural suicide risk assessment to standardize the identification of high-risk individuals and tailoring culturally sensitive suicide prevention strategies. © 2024 The Royal Society for Public Health

The Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) is an instrument to screen substance-use-related health risks. However, little is known whether the ASSIST could be further shortened while remaining psychometrically sound across different countries, languages, gender identities, and sexual-orientation-based groups. The study aimed to validate a shortened 11-item ASSIST (ASSIST-11). Using the International Sex Survey data, 82,243 participants (M _age = 32.39 years) across 42 countries and 26 languages completed questions from the ASSIST-11 regarding gender identity, sexual orientation, and other information. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and multigroup CFA (MGCFA) evaluated the ASSIST-11's structure and tested measurement invariance across groups. Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω were used to examine the internal consistency. Cohen's d and independent t-tests were used to examine known-group validity. The ASSIST-11 was unidimensional across countries, languages, age groups, gender identities (i.e., men, women, and gender-diverse individuals), and sexual orientations (i.e., heterosexual and sexual minority individuals). Cronbach's α was 0.63 and McDonald's ω was 0.68 for the ASSIST-11. Known-group validity was supported by Cohen's d (range between 0.23 and 0.40) with significant differences (p-values<0.001). The ASSIST-11 is a modified instrument with a unidimensional factor structure across different languages, age groups, countries, gender identities, and sexual orientations. The low internal consistency of the ASSIST-11 might be acceptable as it assesses a broad concept (i.e., use of several different substances). Healthcare providers and researchers may use the ASSIST-11 to quickly assess substance-use information from general populations and evaluate the need to follow up with more detailed questions about substance use. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

Background: The three-item Sexual Distress Scale (SDS-3) has been frequently used to assess distress related to sexuality in public health surveys and research on sexual wellbeing. However, its psychometric properties and measurement invariance across cultural, gender and sexual subgroups have not yet been examined. This multinational study aimed to validate the SDS-3 and test its psychometric properties, including measurement invariance across language, country, gender identity, and sexual orientation groups. Methods: We used global survey data from 82,243 individuals (Mean _age=32.39 years;40.3 % men, 57.0 % women, 2.8 % non-binary, and 0.6 % other genders) participating in the International Sexual Survey (ISS;https://***/) across 42 countries and 26 languages. Participants completed the SDS-3, as well as questions regarding sociodemographic characteristics, including gender identity and sexual orientation. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported a unidimensional factor structure for the SDS-3, and multi-group CFA (MGCFA) suggested that this factor structure was invariant across countries, languages, gender identities, and sexual orientations. Cronbach's α for the unidimensional score was 0.83 (range between 0.76 and 0.89), and McDonald's ω was 0.84 (range between 0.76 and 0.90). Participants who did not experience sexual problems had significantly lower SDS-3 total scores (M = 2.99;SD=2.54) compared to those who reported sexual problems (M = 5.60;SD=3.00), with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 1.01 [95 % CI=-1.03, -0.98];p < 0.001). Conclusion: The SDS-3 has a unidimensional factor structure and appears to be valid and reliable for measuring sexual distress among individuals from different countries, gender identities, and sexual orientations. © 2024 The Author(s)

School Administration Manager: Redefining the Principal's Role as an Instructional Leader

She has served as superintendent assistant superintendent director of Technology and Communications and high school English speech and journalism teacher. Experience as a high school and middle school teacher building administrator and district administrator in a variety of K-12 districts. In addition he has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at three different institutions. Most recently he has served as a department chairperson for Counselor Education and assistant dean at Western Illinois University. Additionally he has done consulting work with a superintendent search firm conducting workshops on student engagement and assisting with school improvement activities in Illinois and Iowa. Educational leadership at Western Illinois University teaching at all three levels of Western's graduate program. His professional background includes being a principal assistant superintendent and superintendent in school districts in the Midwest. His research interests focus on distributed leadership and collective bargaining.

In response to an increasing emphasis on instructional leadership and school achievement, the School Administration Manager (SAM) model was introduced as a change strategy to release principals from managerial responsibilities so that more time can be devoted to instructional leadership. The study collected and analyzed survey and focus group interview data to evaluate the impact of SAMs on principals’ management and instructional leadership. In addition, the study examined if school level (elementary or middle school) affects the impact of SAMs. Results illustrate SAMs have a positive impact on management and instructional leadership and the impact was stronger at the middle school level.

Introduction: Despite being a widely used screening questionnaire, there is no consensus on the most appropriate measurement model for the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). Furthermore, there have been limited studies on its measurement invariance across cross-cultural subgroups, genders, and sexual orientations. Aims: The present study aimed to examine the fit of different measurement models for the AUDIT and its measurement invariance across a wide range of subgroups by country, language, gender, and sexual orientation. Methods: Responses concerning past-year alcohol use from the participants of the cross-sectional International Sex Survey were considered (N = 62,943;M_age: 32.73;SD = 12.59). Confirmatory factor analysis, as well as measurement invariance tests were performed for 21 countries, 14 languages, three genders, and four sexual-orientation subgroups that met the minimum sample size requirement for inclusion in these analyses. Results: A two-factor model with factors describing ‘alcohol use’ (items 1–3) and ‘alcohol problems’ (items 4–10) showed the best model fit across countries, languages, genders, and sexual orientations. For the former two, scalar and latent mean levels of invariance were reached considering different criteria. For gender and sexual orientation, a latent mean level of invariance was reached. Conclusions: In line with the two-factor model, the calculation of separate alcohol-use and alcohol-problem scores is recommended when using the AUDIT. The high levels of measurement invariance achieved for the AUDIT support its use in cross-cultural research, capable also of meaningful comparisons among genders and sexual orientations. © 2023

The Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) is a widely used measure of a core facet of the positive body image construct. However, extant research concerning measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across a large number of nations remains limited. Here, we utilised the Body Image in Nature (BINS) dataset - with data collected between 2020 and 2022 - to assess measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis indicated that full scalar invariance was upheld across all nations, languages, gender identities, and age groups, suggesting that the unidimensional BAS-2 model has widespread applicability. There were large differences across nations and languages in latent body appreciation, while differences across gender identities and age groups were negligible-to-small. Additionally, greater body appreciation was significantly associated with higher life satisfaction, being single (versus being married or in a committed relationship), and greater rurality (versus urbanicity). Across a subset of nations where nation-level data were available, greater body appreciation was also significantly associated with greater cultural distance from the United States and greater relative income inequality. These findings suggest that the BAS-2 likely captures a near-universal conceptualisation of the body appreciation construct, which should facilitate further cross-cultural research.
