Photovoltaic Fault Detection in Remote Areas Using Fuzzy-Based Multiple Linear Regression (FMLR)

This research focused on developing and implementing a fault detection model for photovoltaic (PV) systems in remote areas, utilizing a Fuzzy-Based Multiple Linear Regression (FMLR) approach. The study aimed to address the challenges of monitoring PV systems in locations with limited access to conventional power grids and technical resources. The fault detection system integrated environmental parameters such as solar radiation, temperature, wind speed, and rainfall, alongside PV system parameters like panel voltage, current, battery voltage, and inverter performance. Data collection and preprocessing were conducted over a specified period to identify operational patterns under both normal and faulty conditions, ensuring data accuracy through cleaning, normalization, and categorization. The research was conducted in Pandan Arang Village, Kandis District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera, Indonesia, contributing to the improvement of reliability and sustainability of renewable energy sources in isolated communities. The total number of data points for 276 rows with 6 attributes each was 1656 records. The MLR model was developed to predict the output power of the PV system, while fuzzy logic was employed to handle uncertainties in the data, offering a more flexible and adaptive decision-making process. The system applied fuzzy rules to determine the charging status (P3), categorizing it into Optimal Charging, Adjusted Charging, Charging Delay, or Fault Alert. The model was tested with real-time data, and its performance was validated through comparison with manual inspections. The results showed that the FMLR-based fault detection system effectively identified faults and optimized the performance of the PV system, making it suitable for remote areas in South Sumatera. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). Deaf people are people who are unable to communicate with spoken language. Deaf people communicate with the Indonesian Sign System or commonly known as SIBI. In fact, deaf people often communicate and socialize with normal people, but not all normal people understand and understand SIBI. We as researchers want to provide a way out so that deaf people can convey information to normal people, who do not understand SIBI. The input of this research is SIBI movement which is saved in Video format, then the video is processed with the LSTM algorithm. Video The results of the processing are in the form of classified words, the output of this research is in the form of text. The word data set in this study consisted of 3 words, each word contained 30 data sets. The level of accuracy of this study when recognizing words in SIBI that do not hit the face is 100%. © 2023 IEEE.

Knowing if a Sokoban level has a solution requires a high investment of computational resources. This also happens when estimating difficulty;heuristics may not be precise, only work for simplified cases, be discontinuous and take much computing time. The calculation of high-fidelity heuristics is expensive and the performance of optimization systems is reduced by the time they take to deliver the result. In this article, two Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) are implemented, a classifier of resolvable Sokoban boards and a regressor that predicts the number of pushes necessary to solve them. These obtained an accuracy of 79 % and MAE of 28, respectively. Trained models are useful in systems that do not require optimality, but rather guidance within the search space that balances time and quality. These networks can be used as surrogate methods, replacing high-fidelity heuristics that take too long. © 2024 IEEE.

Sorption-enhanced steam gasification of fine coal waste for fuel producing

Improving the quality of syngas from fine coal waste using the sorption-enhanced gasification process is a novel technology in the production of H2. The effect of CaO on CO2 absorption and H2 increase in the steam fine coal gasification process was determined in a fixed bed gasifier. The steam gasification process took place at 650 °C using bentonite and CaO as catalysts and absorbents. Steam increased the H2 concentration in the syngas to 58 vol%. In-situ CO2 absorption is more effective with the addition of CaO. The maximum percentage of CO2 was absorbed when the Ca/C ratio 2 was 78.33 %. The H2 content in the syngas after the CO2 was absorbed increased rapidly to 75.80 vol% at a Ca-to-carbon-mole ratio (Ca/C) of 1.5 and a steam-to-feedstock ratio (S/F) of 1.5. CaO did not produce significant results for low heating value (LHV) or cold gas efficiency (CGE), with results of 12 MJ/Nm3 and 44.53 %. The dominant water gas shift reaction due to the influence of steam and CaO increased H2/CO up to 9.11, which made the syngas from this work suitable for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. © 2022 The Authors

A crucial aspect of autonomous vehicles is path planning, which involves using various algorithms to determine the most efficient routes. This study investigates the application of the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm to create a system for identifying the shortest path. The process includes collecting coordinate data from specific test locations on the Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya campus to generate a graph-based map for analysis. The study begins with gathering route data through the Google Maps application, which includes 182 routes. In simulation tests, the routes generated by ACO differ from those suggested by Google Maps;sometimes, the ACO route is longer and sometimes shorter, due to the probabilistic nature of the ACO algorithm in finding optimal routes. The average error compared to Google Maps is 11.7 meters. Additional tests introduce obstacles on the road, requiring the system to find alternative routes. For instance, the initial route from the auditorium to the Faculty of Science and Math is 38-39-11-53-110-54-111 with a route length of 670 m. After adding a roadblock in front of the Faculty of engineering, the route changes to 38-39-116-40-70-69-56-111, with a route length of 730 meters. These tests demonstrate that the ACO algorithm effectively identifies the best routes for autonomous vehicles, both under normal conditions and when obstacles are present. © 2024 IEEE.

Land degradation is defined as a condition in which the quantity and quality of land resources needed to support ecosystem functions and services and increase food security continues to decline on a temporal and spatial scale under certain ecosystem conditions (Sarino et al. in IOP Conf Ser Earth Environ Sci, pp 1–10, 2019). These changes, combined with population growth, have led to the conversion of agricultural land to developed land, high exploitation of natural and mineral resources, and urbanization, which usually leads to more significant land degradation (Putranto et al. in pp 100016-1–100016-10, 2017). Sub-watershed scale analysis related to the distribution of degraded land by utilizing multi-temporal geospatial layers (Putranto et al. in Int J Geomate 14(45):28–34, 2018) helps provide a regionally consistent data set of required land distribution. Therefore, it can support agendas aligned with sustainable development goals (SDGs) (Guo et al. in 11:1–20, 2019). By utilizing scientific big earth data, which is periodically integrated with terrestrial, aquatic, and hydrological data, it has the potential to assess degraded land as outlined in SDG’s target point 15.3.1 (Yuono et al. in J Ecol Eng 21:126–130, 2020). The Rawas sub-watershed is a river drainage area that originates at one of the peaks of Mount Kerinci. Geologically, the Rawas sub-watershed includes lowlands which are quarterly alluvial deposits from the Pleistocene to the present age. The availability of water in the Rawas watershed until 2020 is sufficient to serve the villages in the watershed. With the most significant water resource potential in November, December, and January to March, approximately 52 mm/month. Meanwhile, in other months, water availability in the Rawas watershed is below 3 mm/month and even close to 0 mm/month. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In the face of growing demand for high-quality software solutions at reduced costs and development times, the use of open-source software (OSS) has become increasingly prevalent. This study evaluates the speed of OSS support activities - an essential quality factor for OSS users - and proposes a method for early-stage evaluation based on issue resolution time. We analyzed 100 popular OSS projects hosted on GitHub, collecting data on issue creation and completion dates. The results indicate a correlation coefficient of 0.587 between 30 and 180 days of observation, aligning with previous findings on OSS support continuity. Notably, a satisfactory correlation of 0.525 was achieved at just 21 days, suggesting that organizations can assess OSS support speed earlier and potentially accelerate their decision-making process. Our findings provide a practical criterion for evaluating the speed of OSS support activities, which may help organizations adopt OSS with greater confidence and enhance productivity in software-related projects. Future research will expand these criteria by exploring additional factors affecting issue resolution time, such as project scale and corporate support. © 2025 IEEE.

This research discusses the application of the hyperbolic tangent model for an outer bypass MR damper with a meandering valve, which was developed by one of the authors. The hyperbolic tangent model consists of six parameters. In this study, parameter reduction was carried out using local and global sensitivity analysis, and a parameter identification strategy based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) was employed. The objective function is the relative error between the model's force and the force obtained from experiments with an outer bypass MR damper prototype featuring a meandering valve. The sensitivity analysis identifies an optimal hyperbolic tangent model with two sensitive parameters, while the remaining parameters are determined to be constant. The results show an improvement in accuracy, with the optimal hyperbolic tangent model reducing the error from 8.06 % to 7.1 %. This indicates that the optimal hyperbolic tangent model can be obtained by applying the sensitivity analysis method developed in this research. © 2024 IEEE.

Good power quality and high-power efficiency are important aspects of power system management. Harmonic, as an unwanted frequency component in electrical signals, can interfere with power quality and reduce electrical efficiency. A passive harmonic filter is a device used to reduce or filter harmonics in electrical power systems. This research proposes technology Internet of Things with an automatic control system that moves the step filter to solve the harmonic problem, with the aim of improving the quality of power and electrical efficiency. The step filter functions to identify and isolate the harmonic, thus enabling appropriate controls to suppress the impact of the harmonic. The proposed system uses sophisticated control algorithms using sensors that can read current, voltage, frequency, and power factor to adjust the step filter parameters dynamically, following changes in load conditions and harmonizing. Simulation of the control network using the proteus software is subsequently undertaken in further research to design the control device. Using an automatic control set in the control simulation results reduced the need for manual intervention and let the system adjust the step filter automatically in response to changing network conditions. This showed that this method worked to lower harmonic distortion, increases the power factor through the filter used, and make the system more energy efficient overall. The study emphasizes the importance of applying sophisticated control strategies to manage harmonics efficiently, which ultimately paves the way to a cleaner and more reliable power grid. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Efficient path planning technology for autonomous vehicles not only yields significant time savings but also contributes to reducing fuel usage. Various methodologies have been introduced and documented in the literature concerning the path planning of autonomous vehicles. While these methodologies may not ensure an optimal solution, they have demonstrated successful applications in their respective contexts, especially the ant colony algorithm. Nevertheless, not many papers discuss the literature review from the viewpoint of ant colony-based path planning. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review encompassing the modeling, optimization criteria, and solution algorithms related to the ant colony for path planning. In this study, the review of the ant colony algorithm is divided into global and local path planning. Based on the review results, the ant colony algorithm appears suitable for global path planning. To achieve better performance, it can be combined with other algorithms such as artificial potential field (APF), genetic algorithm, and particle swarm algorithm. These studies are conducted solely in simulations. Therefore, further research should be carried out to ensure the performance of combining the ant colony and APF for autonomous vehicles for both global and local path planning. © 2023 IEEE.
