Service systems' business processes show the existence of mutual interaction between users. Running a particular business subdomain requires the role of each user. This role is in line with the concept contained in blockchain-based smart contracts. However, determining the subdomains that require smart contract coding is challenging in developing business processes that will run on the blockchain. We aim to determine the service-oriented business process (in the case of marketplace service) and the subdomain of the business process that requires smart contract coding. This article is essential because it shows how developing IT services without a smart contract differs from developing IT services with a smart contract. The main differences between developing services that need smart contracts and those that do not are that certain process can be run automatically and the record of activity in blockchain cannot be changed by anyone (tamper-proof). We outlined methods for designing marketplace business processes and defined subdomains to be encoded into smart contract code. After reviewing the three marketplace platforms, we determined eight subdomains of the marketplace business process. Two subdomains require smart contract coding from eight, namely the payment and complaint subdomains. © 2022 IEEE.

Speech recognition and response system technology in service robot research continues to evolve alongside technical advances and the increasing demand for intelligent automation across industries. The development of machine learning, digital signal processing, and artificial neural networks has brought significant advancements to speech recognition systems. While speech recognition has been implemented in various systems, there is limited discussion on categorizing these systems by examining four aspects: speech recognition applications, datasets used, emotional speech recognition, and automatic speech recognition. In this study, a review of these four aspects is conducted, focusing on the algorithms and methods used, along with their advantages and disadvantages, particularly in the context of implementing them in service robots using the Indonesian language. This study involves a literature review of 100 research papers from the last five years. The review concludes that the use of the transformer method combined with other techniques and Indonesian language datasets is still very limited. Therefore, future research will focus on developing and implementing these methods in humanoid service robots.

The cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Indonesia have increased significantly since 2020. Data shown by the Central Statistics Agency, for example, in South Sumatra Province, there were 6,348 cases of DHF during that period. To suppress the case number of DHF, forecasting areas that are susceptible to this disease is urgently needed. This research aims to develop a machine learning method Support Vector Machine (SVM). The data used include area data, population density data, weather data, and dengue fever case data. The development of the SVM model is carried out using a machine learning method that combines regional data, population density data, weather data, and dengue case data. In the end, using the SVM method can be used to forecast dengue-endemic areas, so that the government and society can take further action to reduce the negative impact of DHF. © 2023 IEEE.

Plastic, glass, metal, and wood waste has become a global scourge and nightmare to the marine environment and the development of the coastal areas. This paper aims at developing a hybrid model of deep learning technique using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Vision transformers (ViT) in the performance of detecting underwater waste materials. The model is designed with the use of transfer learning and high-resolution imaging sourced from underwater drones to help overcome the challenges of underwater work such as poor visibility and insufficient ambient light. The local features are extracted using CNNs and the global spatial relationships of the images are attended to by the ViTs. The results achieved a waste detection accuracy rate of about 90%, which is effective even in difficult environmental conditions. The concept is for a waste management system where drones or underwater robotics systems can assist automated waste management, waste treatment processes, and aid marine renovation activities.

Open Government Data (OGD) initiatives have the potential to provide various benefits to the business sectors, such as market insights analysis, new product innovation, cost savings, improved decision-making, enriched collaboration, and increased transparency. However, OGD also carries potential negative consequences, including data inaccuracy, low data quality, privacy and security, data bias and discrimination, and legal compliance. Thus, this paper aims to comprehensively understand the potential risks and benefits associated with OGD portals and their causality levels. To investigate the causal relationships involved, a Bayesian Belief Networks (BBNs) model was employed, which is constructed using an explanatory strategy based on six main phases. In this research, interview sessions were conducted with five business practitioners who have experience in accessing and using datasets on the OGD portals. The study’s results indicate that the use of datasets on the OGD portal has a moderate level of potential risk, especially in terms of low data quality. Additionally, the potential benefits of using the OGD portal are also significant, particularly in helping businesses make informed decisions to improve their product innovation and services. This paper’s contribution lies in comprehensively understanding the potential risks and benefits of Open Government Data (OGD) portals for business sectors.

Lower Citarum experiences recurring flood that caused by extreme rainfalls. Study of flood models is now needed to anticipate and prepare flood risk management to reduce losses. This study presents the modeling of the Lower Citarum flood flow using 1D-2D flood modeling in HEC-RAS to understand the behavior of floods. A combination of topographic survey and satellite data was used to model the river channel. Fifteen lateral structures were used to couple the 1D and 2D regimes, where the locations of the structure were based on observations. Results showed minor excesses over the lateral structures, which gradually grow into large areas over time. The study identifies locations with a high risk of flooding in the Lower Citarum Zone, which can be used in further studies for academic and practical purposes. The model result has a discrepancy with the observed data. This difference probably occurred due to the different analysis methods between the observed data and flood modeling or the model’s accuracy. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper is dedicated to presenting a combined Generalized Finite Difference Method (GFDM) and Domain-Selection Method (DSM) approach for solving degenerate boundary problems which are usually encountered in engineering simulations. Compared with traditional Domain-Decomposition Method (DDM), the most critical advantage of the present GFDM-DSM is that it is entirely free from matching continuous boundary conditions for different parts of the fluid domain of interest, which is sometimes hard to perform for specific situations. Instead, the only prerequisite of the present GFDM-DSM is to identify which sub-domain each computational node belongs to, and then a linear algebraic system can be assembled according to the pattern of domain-selection. Four benchmarks are performed to validate the convergence and accuracy of the present GFDM-DSM. It is shown that the present GFDM-DSM holds satisfactory accuracy for solving degenerate boundary problems. In particular, the present DSM is a flexible strategy since it can be also combined with other localized domain-type meshless methods in practical applications. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

The prevalence of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is increasing worldwide mainly due to poor oral hygiene and unrestricted lifestyle. Advanced-stage OSCC is associated with poor prognosis and a 5-year survival rate of only 30%–50%. The present study was designed to investigate the anticancer effect and mode of action of Glycyrrhiza-derived semilicoisoflavone B (SFB) in 5-fluorourasil (5FU)-resistant human OSCC cell lines. The study findings revealed that SFB significantly reduces OSCC cell viability and colony formation ability by arresting cell cycle at the G2/M and S phases and reducing the expressions of key cell cycle regulators including cyclin A, cyclin B, CDC2, and CDK2. The compound caused a significant induction in the percentage of nuclear condensation and apoptotic cells in OSCC. Regarding pro-apoptotic mode of action, SFB was found to increase Fas-associated death domain and death receptor 5 expressions and reduce decoy receptor 2 expression, indicating involvement of extrinsic pathway. Moreover, SFB was found to increase pro-apoptotic Bim expression and reduce anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL expressions, indicating involvement of intrinsic pathway. Moreover, SFB-mediated induction in cleaved caspases 3, 8, and 9 and cleaved poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase confirmed the induction of caspase-mediated apoptotic pathways. Regarding upstream signaling pathway, SFB was found to reduce extracellular signal regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK) phosphorylation to execute its pro-apoptotic activity. The Human Apoptotic Array findings revealed that SFB suppresses claspin expression, which in turn caused reduced phosphorylation of ATR, checkpoint kinase 1 (Chk1), Wee1, and CDC25C, indicating disruption of ATR-Chk1 signaling pathway by SFB. Taken together, these findings indicate that SFB acts as a potent anticancer compound against 5FU-resistant OSCC by modulating mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and ATR-Chk1 signaling pathways. © 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.

Relevant smart city research involves many highly futuristic applications, such as smart transportation, in which smart roads warn drivers of impending traffic jams, smart parking, which communicates the location of available parking spaces to drivers, and smart environments, which allow homes and workplaces to fully automatically adjust their temperature to save energy. Complexity in the city sensing section is caused by the complexity of urban systems. The enormous number of sensor types and technologies utilized for municipal data collecting provide a problem. Some of the issues in city sensing are node deployment, sensing management, sensor network types, and their derivative variables, necessitating the development of a city sensing architecture capable of contributing to advances in efficiency, accuracy, and real-timeness. © 2023 IEEE.

Picrasidine I Regulates Apoptosis in Melanoma Cell Lines by Activating ERK and JNK Pathways and Suppressing AKT Signaling

World Health Organization data indicate a continuous increase in melanoma incidence, with metastatic melanoma characterized by poor prognosis and drug resistance. The exploration of therapeutics derived from natural products remains an active area of in vitro research. The aim of this study was to determine the antitumor effects of picrasidine I, a natural compound extracted from Picrasma quassioides, against two melanoma cell lines. We selected two metastatic melanoma cell lines, HMY-1 and A2058, for molecular studies, including Western blotting, 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole staining, and flow cytometry. Picrasidine I demonstrated cytotoxic effects against the HMY-1 and A2058 melanoma cell lines. It induced cell cycle arrest in the sub-G1 phase and downregulated cell cycle–related proteins (e.g., cyclin A2, D1, cyclin-dependent kinases 4, and 6). In the intrinsic apoptosis pathway, picrasidine I activated proapoptotic proteins (e.g., Bax, Bak, t-Bid, BimL/S) and suppressed the expression of antiapoptotic proteins (e.g., Bcl-2, Bcl-xL), with an observed increase in the quantity of depolarized cells. In addition, the apoptotic effects of picrasidine I were linked to the activation of the c-Jun N-terminal kinase and extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathways and the inhibition of the protein kinase B signaling pathway. A human apoptosis array indicated claspin inhibition upon picrasidine I treatment, suggesting the potential involvement of picrasidine I in apoptosis and cell cycle regulation. Our findings suggest that picrasidine I has potential as a candidate for treating advanced melanoma, and thus these findings warrant further investigation. The modulation of claspin expression by picrasidine I could be investigated further as a potential biomarker to predict its efficacy in related to advanced stages of melanoma. © 2024 The Author(s).
