The process of loading and unloading containers at the port is very important to be automated in order to increase productivity, revenues, efficiency and safety in the logistics transportation process especially in a maritime country like Indonesia. To achieve this, identification and tracking of container positions need to be done accurately so that container transfers can occur precisely and smoothly. In this study, YOLO deep learning is used to detect moving containers. The model is trained using container images, and then the validation and testing process are carried out on the model using other container images. The results of training are stored in several checkpoints which will be compared to get the most accurate model. Obtained YOLO gave good results for tracking containers with MAP value of 68.63% and LAMR of 0.31. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

As the global population ages, the number of elderly people needing hearing aids is increasing. This paper proposed an architecture designed to enhance speech based on noise conditions. After noise types are identified by a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) noise classification model, these noise conditions are combined with the noisy speech and input into a conditional Generative Adversarial Network (cGAN) for speech enhancement. The CNN noise classification model achieves an average recognition accuracy of nearly 92%, with a Kappa value as high as 0.88. The cGAN speech enhancement achieves lower error values in the Mel-Cepstral Distortion (MCD) measure. Although some parts of the human voice may be filtered out, the results demonstrate the potential development of the proposed algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

An observation method for mathematical graphology is proposed. The motivation of mathematical graphology is to realize graphological information processing on a machine. Furthermore, mathematical graphology aims to construct a new information theory for visual communication. In order to construct the mathematical model this paper focuses on the observation process, which is the first stage in the model. Based on the physiological saccade phenomena, feature points are extracted which include the important information. Then, contours between adjacent feature points are approximated using smooth functions. The performance of the proposed method is verified by experiments.

In this paper, we propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA) using symbiotic evolutionary viruses based on both the building block hypothesis and the virus theory of evolution. The proposed GA aims to control the destruction of building blocks by discovery, maintenance, and propagation of building blocks based on virus operation. We prepare a group of individuals and a group of viruses. The group of individuals searches for solutions and the group of viruses searches for building blocks. These searches are done based on the symbiotic relation of both groups. Also, our GA has two types of virus evaluation technique. In one type, each virus is evaluated by the difference of the fitness of an individual before and after virus infection. In the other type, all viruses are evaluated by the difference of the fitness of an individual before and after infection of all viruses. We applied the proposed GA to a minimum value search problem using a test function with some local minima far from the optimum. Finally, we also discuss the search behavior in the proposed GA based on each virus evaluation technique. © Fuji Technology Press Ltd. We address mobility management for the internet protocol version 6 in mobile networks, namely mobile IPv6 (MIPv6). To correctly transfer IPv6 packets to a mobile node (MN), the MN has to update its binding to the home network while roaming away from its home network. Mobile IP networks suffer high binding update traffic from high rates of handoffs and long packet delivery delay from the large distance to the home network. In this paper, we introduce a dynamic and distributed domain-based mobility management protocol for MIPv6 to reduce the binding update and packet delivery delay and traffic. We describe the basic protocol operations and examine the performance improvement of our mobility management over the previous mobile IP mobility management method by using simulations. We show that the dynamic approach provides the optimal mobility solution for MIPv6 and the distributed approach can decentralize the network load.

Hydrogels is a unique material that affordable to apply as a membranes layer. In tropical country, such as Indonesia there is easily found water hyacinth (a weed plant) which is potentially used for hydrogels materials fabrication due to high cellulose content. Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) from water hyacinth cellulose and banana peels pectin are used to produce hydrogel for ultrafiltration membrane. The aims of this study are to characterize the functionalization of CMC-pectin membrane with different ratio using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and to determines the morphology of its membranes structure. The CMC was synthesized from water hyacinth stems through carboxymethylation. The functionalization group of multiple CMC-pectin membrane ratio is domination with carboxyl group (COO-), carbonyl stretching and carbon group. Meanwhile, CMC-pectin 70:30 wt% ratio displays not smooth structure. There is a water hyacinth stems extracted cellulose fibre on the surface of hydrogel CMC:pectin membrane. In other hand, the addition of pectin in all ratio variation exhibit increasing contact angle number from 63.98° to 68.16° (0-30 wt% pectin). The existence of pectin from banana peels on hydrogel membranes contributes to increase hydrophobicity of hydrogel-membrane, in spite of the contact angle value is below than 90°. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. The effects of microwave radiation, hyperthermia, and L-ascorbic acid on metabolism of (U_14C) glucose, (2-14°C) glucose, and (1,5-l4C) citrate in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells (EATC) were studied. Microwave irradiated and water bath incubated cells were maintained at the same temperature for comparison. Data were obtained at 37.5°C and 42.5°C in the presence or absence of L-ascorbic acld, Ascorbilc acid increased the rate of metabolism of both glucose and citrate. No significant differences in glucose and citrate metabolism were found between irradiated and nonirradiated cells at the same temperature and ascorbic acid concentration. A comparison of glucose metabolism in a normal tissue preparation and EATC was made. Vitamin C did not increase metabolism in the normal cell preparation. PeerWise (PW) is an online tool that allows students in a course to collaborate and learn by creating, sharing, answering and discussing multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Previous studies of PW at the introductory level have shown that students in computing courses like it, and report statistically significant learning gains in courses taught by the investigators at different institutions. However, we recently conducted three quasi-experimental studies of PW use in upper-division computing courses in the U.S. and failed to replicate these positive results. In this paper we consider various factors that may impact the effectiveness of PW, including instructor engagement, usage requirements and subject-matter issues. We also report several positive results from other STEM courses at the same institution, discuss methodological issues pertaining to our recent studies and propose approaches for further investigation. © 2011 ACM.

This study investigates trends in deep learning research on microscopic images to identify and classify plankton. We performed a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer to display the visualizations. The first step is to extract the relevant journals from the Scopus database. Extraction from relevant journals found 42 articles, including 21 journals and 21 conferences. We analyzed publication trends and analyzes of co-authorship, co-occurrence, and citations. In addition, it examines the collaborative relationship between authors by country, the emergence of co-author keywords, and the citation of journal sources. We found that the researchers performed plankton classification tasks that achieved high accuracy (>90%). The plankton identification method uses a deep learning architecture based on the Convolutional Neural Network. Among the architectures are AlexNet, GoogleNet, InceptionV3, VGGNet (16.19), ResNet (50.101), DenseNet, NasNet, MobileNetV2, ResidualNet, Shufflenet, EfficienNet, and CapsNet. Some researchers combine CNN with SparseConvNets, LMP, SVM, MorphoCluster, and Quantification Algorithm (CC, AC, PCC, PAC, Hdy). Some methods also implement transfer learning, fine-tuning, and advanced features. In addition to the CNN approach, End-to-End Object Detection with transformers is one of the new approaches in the future to identify plankton. © 2022 IEEE.
