This paper discusses a method to determine the optimal node location before a long distance FWA network (22 GHz band, 6.3 Mbit/s) is set. During our 3 years experiment, we found out that the long distance FWA net with 2 links (about 60 km) was down for approximately 42 hours per year due to heavy rain fall conditions. This means that the long distance FWA net is practicable to some extent. We discuss a method to estimate the working ratio between two unknown locations using AMeDAS weather data. By using this method, an appropriate node location can be decided before FWA net is deployed. This approach can improve the working ratio in the sense of link-up continuation.

His Primary Responsibilities are in the development of underwater nondestructive testing equipment for use by fleet divers and inspectors. He also performs research in the characterization of metal microstructure through ultrasonic scattering measurements. Mr. Mittleman received his BS from Cornell University in 1969 and science master's in ocean engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970. His research currently supports doctoral studies with Iowa State University. Mr. Mittleman received the American Society of Naval Engineer's Solberg Award in 1981 for his contributions to underwater ship hull inspection. Mr. Mittleman is a member of ASNE ASNT ASTM IoD Sigma Xi Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi. Lisa Swan:is a mechanical engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City Florida. She is involved in nondestructive testing engineering primarily in the underwater arena. Ms. Swan holds a bachelor of science in materials engineering from North Carolina State University. She is a graduate of the Federal Women's Executive Leadership Program. Ms. Swan is a member of ASNT.

Significant progress has been made in making underwater ultrasonic thickness gauging and magnetic particle inspections available to the fleet. Under sponsorship from the Naval Sea systems Command, Director of Ocean engineering, Underwater Ship Husbandry Division (NavSea 00C5), the Coastal systems Station has developed complete hardware packages supporting these two nondestructive test methods, and has introduced them to military inspectors at a shore intermediate maintenance activity, a destroyer tender, and a naval shipyard. Performance trials conducted prior to taking the systems to the field have been accepted by NavSea, Ships' Concepts Group, Materials Subgroup, Metals Division (NavSea 5142) as evidence that these inspections can reliably be performed underwater. Avenues for certifying specially trained divers and inspectors are being developed;for the first time the Navy will have all of the elements in place for underwater inspections satisfying the requirements of Mil-Std-271 (Requirements for Nondestructive Testing Methods) and the Naval Ships' Technical Manual Chapter 074. Underwater ultrasonic thickness gauging has also been slated for use in the fleet, as data from laboratory and field trials have consistently shown that reliable results can be obtained by a team comprising a certified topside inspector and a diver. In tests performed at the Ship Repair Facility (SRF), Yokosuka, underwater readings were compared to those taken in dry dock by SRF inspectors, and independently by contract inspectors. On the basis of approximately 800 locations, differences between the data sets were found to be randomly distributed, with a standard deviation on the order of 0.02''. This level of accuracy is largely sufficient to distinguish plate which will need replacement during overhaul, or plate which is thick enough to weld on.

There is good evidence that naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, has a strong neuroprotective role and may be a potential drug for the treatment of fibromyalgia. In previous work, some of the authors used experimental clinical data to identify input-output linear time invariant models that were used to extract useful information about the effect of this drug on fibromyalgia symptoms. Additional factors such as anxiety, stress, mood, and headache, were considered as additive disturbances. However, it seems reasonable to think that these factors do not affect the drug actuation, but only the way in which a participant perceives how the drug actuates on herself. Under this hypothesis the linear time invariant models can be replaced by State-Space Affine Linear Parameter Varying models where the disturbances are seen as a scheduling signal signal only acting at the parameters of the output equation. In this paper a new algorithm for identifying such a model is proposed. This algorithm minimizes a quadratic criterion of the output error. Since the output error is a linear function of some parameters, the Affine Linear Parameter Varying system identification is formulated as a separable nonlinear least squares problem. Likewise other identification algorithms using gradient optimization methods several parameter derivatives are dynamical systems that must be simulated. In order to increase time efficiency a canonical parametrization that minimizes the number of systems to be simulated is chosen. The effectiveness of the algorithm is assessed in a case study where an Affine Parameter Varying Model is identified from the experimental data used in the previous study and compared with the time-invariant model.

The steel corrosion affecting study is important for industries and companies as well as for manufacturers of these material types. AISI SAE 1045 steel was used in this study, due to its frequent use. A specimen's series were prepared which were induced in an aggressive environment with the aim of degenerative process accelerating by increasing the material corrosion impact by altering the material mechanical properties. 15 specimens were exposed to the fog bank chamber, likewise 15 specimens in saline immersion chamber all with different exposure times 15. 30, and 45 days, subsequently the specimens are the impact test subjected to by the method of Charpy obtaining the tenacity value. To determine these values, the ASTM E23, ASTM A673 and ASTM E739 standards were used.

Piezoelectricity comes as a principle of transformation of mechanical energy into electrical energy, it is limited in terms of investment, time and research, due to this fact, the need arises to be able to innovate with data collection on the most used models to collect and generate electrical energy. In this research, the literature regarding the generation and collection of electrical energy using piezoelectric materials was analyzed, from this analysis, fifty innovative articles were determined in the last three years, which were reflected in a data matrix, in which It presents the generation and collection element, the applications, and shows the performance in terms of power or voltage that the prototypes supply. With the results of the table, a condensed panorama of current data is obtained, about the most used and outstanding of this form of little-used energy, but which is a competent and efficient alternative for the generation of electricity.

This article focuses on the development of an electronic remote data acquisition system which will have the following sensors adapted: thermometer, hygrometer and barometer. From the measurements of these will be obtained data of temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, which will be stored in the form of records in a data recorder using Raspberry Pi and through wireless communication the data will be transmitted when the software requires it to a module Central of visualization, which according to some parameters will automatically update the histories according to the defined times, or at the request of the user. It will be implemented following a process of research, planning, execution and validation. It implies the necessary information for the implementation, in the planning process the different systems to be used will be divided into 3 groups, measurement and registration system, communication system and a control system composed of the software, and then the acquisition will proceed of the equipment and accessories necessary to execute the assembly. In the execution process, the physical implementation of all the systems will be carried out and the programming of the data acquisition, communication and data storage systems will be developed.

This work aims to describe the construction of a low-cost functional prototype of an electromechanical hand with opening and closing capacity. The device, built on an ABS filament extruder, is actuated by a MG995 high torque servo motor, controlled by an Arduino-UNO R3 board, from the processing of electromyographic signals carried out by: MyoWare Muscle Sensor. The realization and functional evaluation of the device is developed in six phases: The first is to select the thermo-deformable materials, the second is to select the electronic components; the third phase is the design of the electromechanical hand prosthesis, the fourth phase was the construction of the mechanical parts; the fifth phase is the development of the control program on the electronic card; and the sixth phase of the project consists of validating the developed prototype by observing its opening and closing through the oscilloscope. Due to the low cost of development and ease of reproducibility (because it is built under the open-source philosophy), this work is expected to make a contribution to the disabled community, especially the one with limited resources.

The research explores the use of cocoa pod shell (CPS) in rural areas and accessible to the cocoa farmer, applying VOSviewer software. The results show that the production of ethanol or biochar with CPS is not feasible, the first due to its low sugar content and the second, due to the requirement of processes with high temperatures for the extraction of different chemical compounds (i.e activated carbon). On the other hand, obtaining pellets represents a viable energy potential, since the calorific value is competitive with other biomass; Also, through anaerobic digestion under the ideal conditions, it can generate 55% in biogas of the solid matter used. Additionally, the ashes produced in direct combustion or pellets rep-resent an excellent catalyst, which can be used in transesterification, for the generation of biodiesel, used with other residual oils, giving a plus in the efficient use of resources.

Water quality in rivers is deteriorating in urban and rural areas due to natural and anthropogenic factors. Understanding how changes and factors affect river water quality is crucial for managing water quality in river basins. This review focuses on analyzing key factors affecting water quality, and the temporal and spatial variations of water quality in rivers flowing in rural and urban areas. Natural processes such as weathering of rocks, evapotranspiration, atmospheric deposition, climate change, and natural disasters cause changes in the quality of river water. Anthropogenic factors could stem from industrial effluents, domestic activities, and agricultural activities such as the application of fertilizers, manures, pesticides, animal husbandry activities, irrigation practices, deforestation, and aquaculture. The seasonal variations in river water quality are discussed, and land use or cover could affect water quality parameters in a negative or positive way. In addition to traditional contaminants such as biodegradable organic matter, heavy metals, and pathogens, emerging and persistent pollutants such as organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), and phamaceutic active compounds (PhACs) has been found in many rivers, which could pose a threat to human and animal health. The comparison of key factors and parameters in urban and rural areas is also clarified, which provides authorities and policymakers with a deep understanding and supports decision-making in sustainable water management. © 2023 The Authors

The objective of the development of the prototype or scale model of production of hydrogen and oxygen through the electrolysis process of water is to generate an alternative with a sustainable approach, which proposes the supply or source of energy initially with a direct current power source. replaceable in the future by a photovoltaic solar system. For the development of the prototype, it began with the academic compilation of information, then the model was made in CAD, followed by the need to integrate an electronic control system and a mechanical system to obtain the final model, materials were selected and used premises for the development of the two systems, the electronic and physical schematization was carried out, chaired by the assembly and field experimentation. It is important to highlight that the constructed scale model generates hydrogen and oxygen with a low current consumption and a constant voltage, the maximum point of gas generation is the maximum point of energy consumption and its relationship is almost linear.
