This paper proposes a method to estimate the posture of an athlete moving on a vast field in a sporting event using a pan-tilt-zoom camera. In order to estimate the posture of an athlete on a sports field from a dynamic video sequence, our method extracts image features to search correspondence points among successive frames and computes the homography transformation matrix that compensates for changes the camera parameters (e.g., angle of view and posture). The effectiveness of this method is qualitatively verified using MLB TV broadcast video. The accuracy and error factors are also quantitatively verified by CG simulation. In this paper, a method using deep reinforcement learning is proposed to deal with the 3D online bin packing problem. The packing objects are not limited to several specific or fixed cuboid objects, but are composed of more than a thousand objects and randomly generated cuboids, which make the trained policy network can handle novel unknown objects. In addition, the posture of the object in the box can be any angle, not limited to horizontal and vertical. In the proposed method, four voxel maps are used as inputs, and a Soft Actor-Critic (SAC) algorithm is used to train a policy network. On the other hand, in order to deal with various objects with irregular shapes, a packing task simulator with physics engine enable the policy network to learn the state of falling and stacking objects. In terms of training environment of deep reinforcement learning, the proposed method can be applied to boxes of different sizes because of the scalable image information. Moreover, a reward function and a training strategy with gradually increasing difficulty are proposed to effectively improve the learning of policy network. In terms of experimental results, the results on a random object bin packing task in a simulator illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

The increasing use of Information Technology (IT) in all areas of life, followed by increasing cybersecurity threats on the user side, makes cybersecurity awareness among users an obligation that must be met. Several solutions currently available (guides, discussion forums, workshops) have not been able to provide good results and are lacking in terms of user engagement, adaptability, and optimizing available resources, so technology-based learning is needed, especially AI. This paper introduces the design and prototype of an AI-based learning system, especially with the Naive Retrieval-Augmented Generation (Naive RAG) method with three steps, including Retrieval, Augmented, and Generation. The system combines contextual user questions and answers with internal and domain knowledge systems to explain cybersecurity awareness to users dynamically and personally. The prototype that has been developed is then tested using the Black Box Testing method to evaluate functionality and usability. The test results show that the functionality of the system built has run well with a percentage of success of 100%, so it can be used as a technologybased learning medium for education and learning of user security awareness. © 2025 IEEE.

Temiki (Melastoma Candidum) is one of the unutilized wild plants observed to be turning pests on plantations. It has only been used for medicine and not for engineering purposes. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze Temiki’s chemical compounds, which are useful as corrosion inhibitors. The plant was washed, dried, then blended until it became a fine powder, and was further extracted by employing the maceration method with ethanol as solvent. The extracted compounds were also analyzed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometry (GC–MS) and the results obtained include, 2-Furancarboxaldehyde (CAS) Furfural, 1,2,3-Propanetriol (CAS) Glycerol, Acetic acid,1-(2-methyltetrazole-5-yl) etheny, 4H-Pyran-4one,2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy, 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural, cis-dimethylmorpholine, 3-penten-1-ol,2,2,4-trimethyl-(CAS)2,2,4, 2-AMINO-9-(3,4-DIHYDROXY-5-HYDORO, D-Allose, beta-D-Glucopyranoside, methyl, Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester, 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, methyl ester. Population-based metaheuristic algorithms have been used to solve challenging optimization problems, and numerous modifications to make these algorithms more efficient have been proposed. Jaya is one of these algorithms that has been modified and utilized to solve many hard optimization problems. One such modification to the original algorithm is the Modified Jaya (MJAYA) algorithm, which, like Jaya, uses information about the best and worst candidate solutions to determine the population’s search direction, thereby limiting and focusing the search. Recent research has demonstrated that the MJAYA algorithm is not effective at solving systems of nonlinear equations transformed into equivalent nonlinear optimization problems. Systems of nonlinear equations are probably the most difficult class of numerical mathematics problems to solve, which justifies the use of metaheuristic approaches in their resolution. This paper proposes a new population-based optimization algorithm, the Improved Modified Jaya (IM-Jaya) algorithm, which, despite being a generic metaheuristic optimization algorithm, is here used to solve systems of nonlinear equations. The proposed algorithm strikes a better balance between global exploration and local exploitation, allowing for a broader and more exhaustive exploration of the search space as well as a more efficient local search in its most promising regions. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This paper presents a GPU-based parallel implementation of the Enhanced Jaya (EJAYA) algorithm for solving large-scale systems of nonlinear equations. EJAYA is a gradient-free metaheuristic optimization scheme based on the population-based parameter-less Jaya algorithm that has recently been shown to be capable of solving nonlinear equation systems, a class of challenging problems that are difficult to solve by traditional approaches, particularly as systems become larger. The proposed parallel algorithm was implemented using the Julia programming language on a high-performance GeForce RTX 3090 GPU with 10 496 CUDA cores and 24 GB GDDR6X VRAM and was tested using a set of difficult scalable nonlinear equation system problems. The obtained results, with average speedups up to 122.25x, evidenced the capability of the proposed GPU-based parallel algorithm to meet the computational demands of the important class of problems under consideration. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In this study, silica extraction from RHA (rice husk ash) has been successfully performed by alkaline using KOH and NaOH with sol–gel precipitation. The silica gel was characterized for the functional group by FTIR, crystallinity with XRD, structure silica with SEM and particle size with PSA. The results show the higher concentration of solvent led to higher silica. The FTIR analysis revealed vibrations of Si[sbnd]O and Si[sbnd]O[sbnd]Si on the product. Additionally, observed to be amorphous and aggregated, the silica extracted from RHA also exhibited a decrease in all samples. © 2023

The loading and unloading activities of container ships at the Tanjung Perak Port is imperative, as they can be carried out quickly and efficiently. These ships tend to have a high frequency of visits and possess the largest gross tonnage among ships used for the transportation of goods. The occurrence of an accident involving a container ship can have a detrimental effect on the seamless delivery of goods via sea transportation. Furthermore, the crew be adequately prepared in order to mitigate the risk. As evidenced by research on safety behaviour have not taken preparedness as a factor into consideration when addressing emergencies. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of safety knowledge, motivation, and awareness on safety behaviour in dealing with emergencies on container ships in accordance with relevant regulations. A total of 180 ship crew members served as respondents and it analysed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that preparedness, including safety procedures, emergency training, and crew security culture is an important aspect in dealing with emergencies. Furthermore, this study obtained an R square value of 0.525 in the structural model, indicating that the independent variables have an influence on behaviour, and it was classified in the good category. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

There are the following three steps to increase users of cutting-edge measurement instruments produced by university research: (1) providing information on their use at scientific conferences, (2) conducting collaborative research between the developers and users of the instruments, and (3) providing a contract measurement service to researchers wanting to use the instruments as needed. This research study aims to determine the criteria for selecting suitable operating organization handling contract measurement service above when it is located within or outside the university. As model cases, we investigated the following two types of businesses that operate university-owned instruments to provide measurement results: shared-use facilities for industry-academia collaborations operated by universities (university organizations) and university-launched companies (companies) performing outsourced services under an instrument-use agreement with the universities. We interviewed three university organizations and three companies about their challenges and success points in managing their organizations. A comparison of the interviews revealed that 'maintenance of the organization,' 'hiring human resources,' and 'expanding customer base' are the criteria for selecting the two types of businesses. © 2023 PICMET (Portland International Center for Management of engineering and Technology(.

The quality of asphalt concrete that meets technical specifications as an asphalt pavement construction material is the main consideration for an engineer, so that the design life of the road can be achieved. Currently, the use of modified type II PG70 asphalt mixture is considered to be a relevant choice for road conditions in areas with a tropical climate, especially in hot temperature areas. Asphalt concrete is a construction material that has flexible behavior during traffic loads. One of the behaviors in question is the resilient modulus (Mr), the selection of aggregate gradations and the type of asphalt that meets certain requirements which greatly affects the quality of asphalt concrete. Method is using static loading with the Marshall test tool. The value of the modulus of elasticity can be measured with the Marshall parameter. The maximum resilience modulus value for the asphalt concrete mixture AC–WC = 67,678 Mpa and AC–BC = 72,732 Mpa. The application of the Marshall test is still feasible to use in determining the resilient modulus, although there are other, more detailed methods in finding the resilient modulus of a material. The resilient modulus analysis carried out by the author aims to determine the value of the resilience modulus (Mr) on the AC–WC and AC–BC pavement layers as an evaluation of the results of the design planning (Detail engineering Design) of road pavements. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
