We consider models of quantum computation that involve operations performed on some fixed resourceful quantum state. Examples that fit this paradigm include magic state injection and measurement-based approaches. We introduce a framework that incorporates both of these cases and focus on the role of coherence (or superposition) in this context, as exemplified through the Hadamard gate. We prove that given access to incoherent unitaries (those that are unable to generate superposition from computational basis states, e.g. CNOT, diagonal gates), classical control, computational basis measurements, and any resourceful ancillary state (of arbitrary dimension), it is not possible to implement any coherent unitary (e.g. Hadamard) exactly with non-zero probability. We also consider the approximate case by providing lower bounds for the induced trace distance between the above operations and n Hadamard gates. To demonstrate the stability of this result, this is then extended to a similar no-go result for the case of using k Hadamard gates to exactly implement n > k Hadamard gates. © 2023, CC BY.

The hepatitis C virus (HCV), a major causative agent of chronic liver disease, is responsible for the incidence of hepatitis infections worldwide. In line with the World Health Organization's goal of reducing global new infections by 90% and viral hepatitis-related mortality rates by 65% by 2030, we proposed a miniaturized indium tin oxide-based extended gate field-effect transistor biosensor for rapid and specific detection of different HCV genotypes within 20 min. The biosensor combined loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 12 (CRISPR/Cas12a)-induced cleavage. The immobilized single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) served as a signal transmitter and underwent CRISPR/Cas12a trans-cleavage, which was triggered by specific nucleic acid pairing with complementary guide RNAs. This resulted in a significant change in the surface potential, which indicated the presence of HCV-viral RNA. The sensor demonstrated high sensitivity, with a detection limit as low as 1 genomic copy/reaction and a 10-fold increase in robustness for low concentration tests. The clinical results are consistent with those of the polymerase chain reaction. This research offered a rapid, sensitive, and digital diagnostic method for HCV viral infections, particularly suited for resource-limited settings, contributing to the elimination of hepatitis. © 2023

Biowaste remediation and valorization for environmental sustainability focuses on prevention rather than cleanup of waste generation by applying the fundamental recovery concept through biowaste-to-bioenergy conversion systems - an appropriate approach in a circular bioeconomy. Biomass waste (biowaste) is discarded organic materials made of biomass (e.g., agriculture waste and algal residue). Biowaste is widely studied as one of the potential feedstocks in the biowaste valorization process due to its being abundantly available. In terms of practical implementations, feedstock variability from biowaste, conversion costs and supply chain stability prevent the widespread usage of bioenergy products. Biowaste remediation and valorization have used artificial intelligence (AI), a newly developed idea, to overcome these difficulties. This report analyzed 118 works that applied various AI algorithms to biowaste remediation and valorization-related research published between 2007 and 2022. Four common AI types are utilized in biowaste remediation and valorization: neural networks, Bayesian networks, decision tree, and multivariate regression. The neural network is the most frequent AI for prediction models, the Bayesian network is utilized for probabilistic graphical models, and the decision tree is trusted for providing tools to assist decision-making. Meanwhile, multivariate regression is employed to identify the relationship between experimental variables. AI is a remarkably effective tool in predicting data, which is reportedly better than the conventional approach owing to its characteristics of time-saving and high accuracy. The challenge and future work in biowaste remediation and valorization are briefly discussed to maximize the model's performance. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

The impacts of climate change in the last decade are tropical storms, rising sea levels, and forest fires. These impacts damage human health, natural resources, and gender equality. This study aimed to identify the effects of climate change in the community, cultural development, and gender roles in addressing climate change in Central Kalimantan. This study used a cross-sectional design with questionnaires. Data collection was carried out using interview and observation techniques with a purposive sampling method. Interviews were conducted with 30 respondents in each district. The results of the study showed that the community has long felt climate change in Central Kalimantan. Still, they do not yet understand that changes in rainfall and temperature patterns reduce environmental conditions and forests' function to support daily life. The openness of access to natural resources for women gives the responsibility of maintaining families during climate change, for example, utilizing plants to be used as weaving material in managing wet and dry forest ecosystems that increase deforestation rates. In the future, stakeholders, including regional government, will issue policies that protect women's rights and interests to ensure that women get the same access and benefits related to information and decision-making, especially in natural resources management. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.

Medicinal plant recognition manually takes a lot of time and money. Moreover, to reduce these resources, some researchers propose to implement artificial intelligence technology. This paper aims are to conduct a systematic literature review of medicinal plant leaf recognition published in the last two years (2019–2020) from IEEE, Springer and Science Direct. We obtained 15 studies in the field of medicinal plant leaf recognition using artificial intelligence. The dataset used for medicinal plant leaf recognition is mostly used private dataset, however, there are public dataset named Leaf, Flavia, Swedish dataset. We also found robust method that can be used for medicinal plant leaf recognition is Multichannel Modified Local Gradient Pattern (MCMLGP) and Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) as feature extraction; and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Multi-Layer Perceptron trained with Backpropagation algorithm (MLP-BP), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Transfer Learning (VGG19) as classifier.

This paper aims to examine the potential of natural coco fibre to be utilized as a wall covering in building construction for sun radiation protection. engineering innovation in building construction to control the building's temperature is important. Lowering the building's room temperature can be carried out by modifying the wall construction materials. Thus, the usage of an air conditioner which is not environmentally friendly can be reduced. The wall modification can give more protection and dampen the sun's heat, hence the thermal comfort can be obtained. Natural materials, moreover, can be used in the wall modification to reduce the room temperature. In this study, a comparative analysis was carried out between two materials: (1) the coco fibre coated with cement mixture;(2) the mixture of cement and sand, both were used as materials to plaster the wall. The cement mixture acted to bind the compacted coco fibre sheets. The material was evaluated after the cement mixture had been hardened. The test was carried out by providing heat on one side and measuring the temperature on the other side of the material. The results were significant between the two materials. This indicates the potential of coco fibre as a heat insulation in the wall construction materials that can minimize solar thermal radiation into the room. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A reliable transmission link for High-speed rail scenarios (HSR) requires denser networks as the unique characteristics of HSR propagation emerged. In this study, we present a performance analysis of the Received Signal Level (RSL) for HSR in the free space environment as the most favorable propagation. To achieve an excellent reception, the study of path loss from the implementation of optimization technique is utilized as the most important property in the analysis. The findings demonstrate a satisfying RSL result that was achieved from the optimized path loss values. Hence it will benefit the HSR network designers to obtain a reliable transmission link in their communication's domain.

The critical minerals industries in Indonesia may pose possible environmental and human health risks due to the release of pollutants into soil, water, and air, as well as the use of materials and energy. This study investigates the possible environmental and human health impacts of Indonesia's nickel, gold, copper, tin, and bauxite mining and processing industries. This study utilizes the latest version of the OpenLCA software, version 2.0, in combination with the Ecoinvent 3.8 database. To evaluate potential environmental consequences and health effects on humans, CML-IA Baseline and Environmental Priority Strategies (EPS) are employed in product development. The EPS system was developed utilizing a hierarchical methodology with the objective of furnishing the product developer with data regarding the financial impact of human health impairment resulting from a particular product development. The production of one tonne of gold, nickel, bauxite, tin, and copper results in the emission of 7.34.E+07, 4.61.E+04, 3.10.E+04, 1.02.E+04, 8.01.E+03 kg CO₂ eq/t, respectively, contributing to global warming. This production is associated with asthma cases of 7.79.E+01 (gold industry), 2.21.E−03 (copper industry), 1.81.E−03 (tin industry), 9.21.E−04 (nickel industry), and 4.71.E−06 (bauxite industry) Personyears/t. Electricity consumption and the release of carbon dioxide are the main factors contributing to global warming. The primary cause of asthma cases is the utilization of fuel oil and electricity. Power plant chimneys can employ various technologies, such as cyclones, bag filters, and scrubbers, to mitigate the release of polluting gas emissions. The critical mineral industry must prioritize handling and governing of steam power facilities to minimize their negative effects on the environment and human health. © 2024 The Authors

The Piecewise Affine (PWA) model approximates nonlinear systems using linear models within specific regions. This approach offers advantages for designing DC microgrid control systems with linear controllers, mainly when the system includes several nonlinear DC–DC boost converters. The boundaries of the PWA model can be established using straightforward methods based on duty cycle partitions. Each duty-cycle region represents a distinct operational mode of the system characterized by unique dynamic equations. This study presents a formulation for deriving the PWA model of a parallel boost converter based on its nonlinear average dynamics resulting from the multiplication of states and inputs. An average dynamics model for the parallel boost converter is also introduced and employed in the deriving formulation. Moreover, computer simulations were conducted to analyze the PWA models of parallel boost converter dynamics, employing various partitions, comparing their behaviors among themselves and against those of the Matlab Simulink model. Furthermore, laboratory experiments were conducted by implementing a controller based on Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI), designed using the PWA model of the parallel boost converter, to regulate the converter's output voltage. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the PWA models of parallel boost converter dynamics closely align with those of the average model, making it well-suited for being controlled using a linear controller. © 2024 The Authors

The development of companies called startups is a company that has a lot to do with the world of technology and information; even in Indonesia, it has become a new trend, including the rise of startups engaged in software development. Many software startups have started to emerge by developing innovative software products to increase economic value to increase job opportunities. However, not a few software products that have been produced have failed. One of the causes of product failure is organizational factors, where the organisation’s culture is still a very complex problem for software startups. The role of top-level management in software startups also affects the organization in supporting the success of the products produced. In this study, we conduct a review of the literature in the organizational area in implementing information security governance, focusing on its application to secure software development. Information security governance is part of an organisation’s overall governance where it protects the organisation’s existence. Thereby, the focus of this review is to explain governance associated with organizations with a standardized approach to information security governance and investigate the variables that influence top-level management structures on secure software development.
