Prediction of traffic congestion based on time series dataset number of vehicles using neural network algorithm

The increasing number of vehicles that was not accompanied by an adequate road infrastructure readiness causes traffic jams. Traffic jams often occur repeatedly every day, especially at certain times, such as when people are going to and from work. The same traffic jams can also occur at the beginning or the end of the week; this usually repeats every week. As a result, if the congestion dataset is known, the repeating traffic congestion for daily and weekly congestion can be anticipated. In this study, traffic congestion predictions are modeled using the Neural Network Algorithm based on traffic congestion data collected within 24 hours for one to two weeks. The parameters used in optimizing Neural Network performance are learning rate, momentum, and epochs (training cycles). Based on these experiments, the Neural Network Algorithm successfully modeled traffic density patterns which are recurring congestion patterns, with quite good results.

CLNS1A is a chloride channel protein and an essential component of the methylosome complex, which additionally comprises PRMT5 and MEP50. In this study, we investigated its contribution to lung cancer and its potential as a therapeutic target. Analysis of transcriptomic datasets and western blotting revealed that CLNS1A, PRMT5, and MEP50 were overexpressed in lung cancer tissues, with elevated CLNS1A expression correlating with poor patient survival. CLNS1A overexpression enhanced platinum clearance from cells, increased the IC₅₀ values for chemotherapy, and improved cell survival. Conversely, the knockdown of CLNS1A increased drug accumulation, reduced survival, and increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. The 3W mutant, a chloride channel-defective variant with steric hindrance at key bottleneck residues, impaired chloride ion transport, thereby reducing drug resistance, migration, and anchorage-independent growth. Mechanistically, CLNS1A promotes drug efflux through its chloride channel activity and activates the FAK-SRC-RAC1 pathway to enhance motility and clonogenicity. It also facilitates PRMT5-mediated RUVBL1 methylation to support anti-apoptotic DNA damage response signaling. In vivo, CLNS1A overexpression accelerated tumor growth and reduced survival, whereas CLNS1A knockdown sensitized tumors to cisplatin, enhancing therapeutic efficacy. These findings suggest that CLNS1A is a potential biomarker and therapeutic target, and its inhibition offers a strategy to overcome drug resistance and limit the metastatic progression of lung cancer. © 2025 The Authors

Salinity gradient energy (SGE) allows two solutions with different salt concentration to mixing and directly into electrical energy by reverse electrodialysis (RED) membrane. High power outputs are forecasted theoretically, but in real practice is still relatively low RED power efficiency. In this work, the spacer shadow effects on both membrane and solution compartment resistances are investigated by employing nylon spacer and without spacer. In addition, this experiment also proposes the power density performance of RED membrane under natural wetland water as low saline solution and variation of high saline solution i.e., artificial brackish water (0.3 wt% NaCl) and artificial seawater (3.5 wt% NaCl). The results indicate that the spacer shadow effect on RED membrane has a correlation with energy output generated. The used of spacer led to an increase in stack resistance and decrease in power density compared to without nylon spacer. This result increases the impact of RED renewable power source and brings it closer to practical implementation, especially for the potential natural wetland water as low saline solution. The power output was computed, obtaining a maximum power density of 0.19 W/m2 with variations without spacers, and 0.14 W/m2 with spacers. Results show that of the cell components directly influences the physicochemical principles governing the RED process and is closely related to the cell output parameters. In turn, it is possible to increase the performance of a RED cell by optimizing operation without spacers to avoid the shadow effect.

Quantum annealing technologies aim to solve combinatorial optimization and sampling problems. Studies on combi-natorial optimization problems include the selection of vehicle routes on road traffic, known as the NP-hard problem. We propose a vehicle route problem that can be formulated in the Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) model as a combina-torial problem to optimize vehicle route selection. The solution aims to optimize the vehicle’s journey to reach a destination. The experiment presents a formulation to solve traffic congestion problems on certain roads. The selection of vehicle routes results in optimizing the distribution of alternative road vehicle flows. The level of road density is a cost function that will be optimized, and the constraint is a limitation on the route choice for each vehicle. This vehicle routing problem considers the weight parameter (as distance in actual road conditions) of the road segment that affects the cost function. The simulations on the D-Wave quantum annealer show optimal results on the route deployment of several vehicles. The cost value on route choice with weighted segments gives better results than in previous studies. Each vehicle can go through different road options and accurately reduce road conges-tion. This solution provides an opportunity to develop QUBO modeling on more complex vehicle routing problems to reduce road congestion.

Transit Oriented Development, hereinafter referred to as TOD, is a concept of regional development based and centered on a mass public transit station, which accommodates new growth into a mixed area with an area of 350 m to 700 m from the center of the area that is integrated with the area around it through the use of ground surface space, elevated space and underground. In the existing conditions in the field and the lack of availability of public transport services to the public there are still lacks of lack of attention from transportation providers, one of which is the interconnection and integration of public transport, where the facilities and infrastructure for moving public transportation are inadequate at the beginning and end of a trip (first mile and last mile). smooth traffic is needed to meet the target of public transport services. Planning and re-evaluating traffic networks and implementing transportation policies that can support the use of public transportation. The need for integration of public transportation in order to reduce travel time, as well as to improve the standard of living of the people, then based on these considerations, the Development of DKI Jakarta TOD needs to be done as an effort to realize healthy transportation.

Retailing temperature-sensitive-products such as sausages, milk, fishes, poultry, etc. requires extra energy for cooling. It is necessary to develop an-energy-efficient-design of cold storage box to preserve these products during transportation and retailing. This research aims to study the heat flow, temperature distribution and temperature changes within a 5 litter cold box featured by phase change material (PCM). The study begins with design and fabrication of cold box followed by testing and evaluation using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. As energy storage, there are four models of 300 ml plastic-bottle filled with PCM i.e (i) plain bottles without holes and grooves, (ii) bottles with one hole, (iii) two-holes bottles with curvatures, and (iv) bottles with four holes without curvatures. There are two type of PCM was prepared to observe the temperature changes in the box, 100 % H2O and 10 vol.% NaCl in H2O. Experimental results show that adding 10 vol.% of NaCl enhances the effectiveness of energy discharging by 73% compared with pure water. CFD simulation explains in detail the temperature distribution and heat flow pattern of each PCM bottles types highlighting an important influence of the shape and number of holes on the rate of heat flow. The best performance of cold box is exhibited by 10% NaCl in H2O filled into plain bottle. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

Background: In an op-ed posted on the New York Times (NYT) website, Angelina Jolie disclosed that she carries the BRCA1 genetic mutation and received a preventive mastectomy. Studies have since demonstrated a positive impact of Ms. Jolie's disclosure on breast cancer-related health behaviors. This qualitative study used conventional content analysis of comments to the op-ed to explore intermediate outcomes of the disclosure;specifically, how the disclosure influenced public discourse regarding appearance changes related to breast cancer surgery. Method: After downloading all comments from the NYT website and using an iterative process to develop a standardized codebook, two researchers applied the codes using NVivo 10. Result: Five subthemes were identified in sixty-one comments discussing physical appearance or body image in the context of breast cancer treatment or preventive care: appearance versus health, perception of breast appearance following surgery, partner acceptance of appearance following surgery, beliefs about others’ reactions regarding appearance, and beliefs about reconstructive surgery. While some commenters shared body image concerns following surgery, many were relieved to have undergone the procedure, valuing health over appearance. Most women stated that their romantic partners praised their appearance following surgery, although some worried about how they were perceived in public. Conclusion: This study clarifies how celebrity disclosures about cancer may influence intermediate outcomes (e.g. interpersonal communication and beliefs about appearance-related surgical outcomes) hypothesized to contribute to changes in cancer prevention and treatment behaviors. More research is needed to further elucidate the relationships between celebrity disclosure, intermediate outcomes, and behavioral outcomes. © 2020, © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Lightweight concrete as covers on floating house platforms made from expanded polystyrene system (EPS) material

Floating houses can be utilized in coastal areas as they are equipped with platforms made from expanded polystyrene system (styrofoam) and lightweight concrete covers. A lightweight concrete cover on a floating house platform made from styrofoam can improve the feasibility of housing in terms of strength, comfort and cleanliness. This research aims to obtain mixture that meet the weight and compressive strength requirements of lightweight concrete and produce them as covers on floating houses platform. The compositions of lightweight concrete materials in this research use volume ratios of 1 Pc: 2 Sand: 3 Styrofoam, 1 Pc: 1.5 Sand: 2.5 Styrofoam and 1 Pc: 1.25 Sand: 2.75 Styrofoam. The research results show that the concrete made with styrofoam qualifies as lightweight concrete with average volume weight of concrete produced between 1000-1300 kg/m3. The lightest concrete weight (1097.88 kg/m3) could be obtained from variations of mixture of 1 Pc: 1.25 Sand: 2.75 Styrofoam, The highest concrete compressive strength results were obtained from the mixture of 1 Pc: 2 Sand: 3 Styrofoam (119.26 kg/cm2). The variations of concrete mixture of 1 Pc: 2 Sand: 3 Styrofoam can be considered as lightweight concrete (≤ 1900 kg/m3).

The heading Ecological footprint is one of the methods developed to respond sustainable development issue expected to measure the availability and usage of natural resources affecting the ecology of environment. The purpose of this study is to count the value of ecological footprint at Farming Production Centre Merauke through the supply and demand approach based on GFN (Global Footprint Network) and count the capacity of environment. The method used was Global Footprint Network, and counting capacity method. The results of ecological footprint counting was 29.9536 gha/inhabitant and the value of bio-capacity (supply) was gha/inhabitant, so the ecology (environmental support) value was 1,1936gha/inhabitant. The results show that the Farming Production Centre is categorized into ecological surplus and the capacity is 36,8964inhabitants/ha. The value shows that the environment and ecosystem condition in the development area of Farming Production Centre in Merauke, Merauke Integrated Food and Energy Estate, is able to accommodate the needs and support the people living in the area (ecological debt). © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2019.

Heavy metal pollution of water is a burning issue of today's world. Among several strategies involved for heavy metal remediation purpose, biomineralization has shown great potential. Of late, research has been focused on developing effective mineral adsorbents with reduced time and cost consumption. In this present paper, the Biologically-Induced Synthetic Manganese Carbonate Precipitate (BISMCP) was produced based on the biologically-induced mineralization method, employing Sporosarcina pasteurii in aqueous solutions containing urea and MnCl₂. The prepared adsorbent was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), SEM-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and BET surface area analyzer. EDX analysis showed the elements in the crystal BISMCP were Mn, C, and O. XRD result of BISMCP determined the crystal structure, which is close to rhodochrosite (MnCO₃). Spectral peaks of FTIR at 1641.79 cm⁻¹ confirmed the appearance of C[dbnd]O binding, with strong stretching of CO₃²⁻ in Amide I. From the six kinds of BISMCP produced, sample MCP-6 has the higher specific surface area by BET analysis at 109.01 m²/g, with pore size at 8.76 nm and higher pore volume at 0.178 cm³/g. These specifications will be suitable as an adsorbent for heavy metal removal by adsorption process. This study presents a preliminary analysis of the possibility of BISMCP for heavy metals adsorption using ICP multi-element standard solution XIII (As, Cr, Cd, Cu, Ni, and Zn). BISMCP formed from 0.1 MnCl₂ and 30 ml of bacteria volume (MCP-6) produced a better adsorbent material than others concentrations, with the adsorption efficiency of total As at 98.9%, Cr at 97.0%, Cu at 94.7%, Cd at 88.3%, Zn at 48.6%, and Ni at 29.5%. Future work could be examined its efficiency adsorbing individual heavy metals. © 2023
