Pyrolysis study of coconut leaf's biomass using thermogravimetric analysis

Coconut leaf is one of the most potential biomass to be converted into bio-oil through pyrolysis process and the availability in Indonesia is abundance. The mechanism of decomposition of coconut leaf into bio-oil productions requires further research because of the complexity of pyrolysis and differences in biomass composition. Therefore, the design, optimization and modeling of pyrolysis processes is strongly influenced by biomass characteristics. The purpose of this study was to find the characteristic differences in pyrolysis behavior of the three main parts of coconut leaf based on its constituent parts; leaflets, midrib and whole leaf. Moisture is removed by drying the sample in an electric oven at 110°C for 24 hours. Characteristics were tested using Cellulose Analysis, Ultimate Analysis, and Heat Value, whereas pyrolysis behavior used Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA). The results show that leaflets, midrib and whole leaf exhibit different pyrolysis behavior. In terms of considering flow process of separation, the whole leaf becomes an option as a fuel for further pyrolysis processes. The maximum temperature that as a reference in the pyrolysis process of coconut leaves is 500°C with temperature rate of 20°C/min and the process lasts as long for 130 minutes.

Recently, convergence of nanotechnology and sustainable approaches has emerged as promising strategy for advanced remediation of heavy metals (HMs) from water. However, engineered nanoparticles (ENPs)-derived from freshwater microalgae gained attention as viable alternative, owing their inherent metal tolerance, rapid-growth rates, and versatile metabolic capabilities. This review predominantly focuses on freshwater microalgae-mediated-ENPs, highlighting intracellular/extracellular pathways induced by biomolecules such as polysaccharides, proteins, lipids, reductases etc., which govern nanoparticle nucleation, stabilization, and functionalization. Subsequently, the review discusses significant types of ENPs including iron, silver, gold, cadmium-sulfide, iron-oxide, nanocomposites, and bio-nano-hybrids nanoparticles, which reported removal efficiency from 21 to 100% of different HMs (lead, cadmium, chromium, copper, zinc, etc.). Despite ENPs exhibit significant potential, their large-scale implementation is constrained by challenges such as scaling-up, nutrient-variability, and high turbidity of wastewater. Future research recommended to focus on optimizing biosynthesis parameters, investigating diverse microalgal-strains, incorporating hybrid nano-materials to enhance their stability, reusability, and scalability for sustainable green-technology.

Indonesia is earthquake and tsunami prone areas, included Sumatera Island. Bandar Lampung is also vulnerable to earthquake and tsunami, especially Kangkung fishing village in Lampung Bay. Disaster risk reduction is very important to be implemented in the cases of earthquake and tsunami, which can save more life and build resilience in facing the hazard. This research aimed to study how the knowledge, awareness, and resilience of people in Kangkung fishing village can strengthen the earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. This research conducted by quantitative methods. Survey and interview of 53 respondents were conducted as well as data collecting approached by purposive sampling. The results found that there is little knowledge and awareness of people in Kangkung fishing village of the hazard of earthquake and tsunami. Therefore, this research proposed a model of 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. It is a comprehensive and sustainable model of how people take a part in disaster risk reduction by intensive participatory. Conclusion of this research emphasized that disaster risk reduction is a big matter in marginalized society such as people in Kangkung fishing village. The 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction that may increase the knowledge and awareness to become more resilience.

This paper puts forward the forthcoming technology in military impact especially in the stealth operation. Synthetized ferrite phase B a F e (M n C o ) 1.5 T i1.5 O 19 using sol-gel method as RAM ( Radar Absorber Material ) is analyzed to avoid detection from radar by coating it on military vehicle and weaponry. FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) is an analytical technique applied to identify organic and some cases of inorganic materials. The measurement technique of infrared absorption radiation is applied upon the sample material versus wavelength, because each molecule absorbs infrared radiation at its characteristic frequencies. When B a F e (M n C o ) 1.5 T i1.5 O 19 as Irradiated infrared Radar Absorber Material, the absorbed radiation process normally stimulates each molecule into a higher vibrational state. The absorbed light wavelength by one particular molecule is the energy gap function between the at-rest and excited vibrational states. Proposed issues of embedded FTIR sensor for detecting B a F e (M n C o ) 1.5 T i1.5 O 19 as RAM in UAVs with 5G network architecture by means of high frequency spectrum would be the next frontier of military impact as it enables significantly faster speeds to process a large amount of data with lower latency and greater device connectivity.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. One type of cancer that causes death in the male population is prostate cancer. This disease occurs only in men because in women they do not have a prostate appearance. The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy of the model with the predictions of prostate cancer specialists. Prediction is made based on prostate specific antigen data, age, and patient prostate volume. The independent variables in this study were prostate specific antigen, age, and prostate volume. The dependent variable is the risk of prostate cancer using a fuzzy model. The novelty of this study is that the model has a low, moderate, high, and very high prostate cancer risk level output. In the previous article only PCR values were produced. The results show that the proposed fuzzy model provides a PCR value that is within the PCR interval predicted by a specialist doctor can be used properly to help diagnose and analyze the possibility of prostate cancer and is one of the considerations for doctors to decide whether or not a biopsy is needed for these patients.

The potential utilization of natural materials as a wall covering of the building in heat reduction

This paper aims to examine the potential of natural coco fibre to be utilized as a wall covering in building construction for sun radiation protection. engineering innovation in building construction to control the building's temperature is important. Lowering the building's room temperature can be carried out by modifying the wall construction materials. Thus, the usage of an air conditioner which is not environmentally friendly can be reduced. The wall modification can give more protection and dampen the sun's heat, hence the thermal comfort can be obtained. Natural materials, moreover, can be used in the wall modification to reduce the room temperature. In this study, a comparative analysis was carried out between two materials: (1) the coco fibre coated with cement mixture; (2) the mixture of cement and sand, both were used as materials to plaster the wall. The cement mixture acted to bind the compacted coco fibre sheets. The material was evaluated after the cement mixture had been hardened. The test was carried out by providing heat on one side and measuring the temperature on the other side of the material. The results were significant between the two materials. This indicates the potential of coco fibre as a heat insulation in the wall construction materials that can minimize solar thermal radiation into the room.

The increasing population at Teluk Pemedas and Sanipah coastal areas of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, has led to coastal degradation. The problem was mainly caused by conversion of mangrove into aquaculture, agriculture, plantation industrial, and residential areas. This research was a study case, used descriptive analysis to describe the local fishermen activity using belat traditional device to catch fish. The results revealed that there were many fishermen still did not know the benefits of mangrove for economy growth, ecological, ecotourism etc. This condition affects to the decline of the mangrove function. Fisherman who used belat often move from one location to another location in order to find places that have many catches. The belat which are placed in good environment mangrove areas produces lots of catches that greatly benefit the fisherman, therefore mangrove ecosystem must be well preserved for the sustainability of fishermen's efforts to earn a living. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Personality disorder is known as chronic psychological disorders. It is a serious problem of the individual character and behavior that affect work, family and social life of a person. In many cases, the possibility of people do not realize that they have a personality disorder as a way of thinking and behaving seems natural to the patient, and the patient may blame others. To diagnose a personality disorder early, it is necessary to develop a system that is able to predict personality disorders and recommendation type of therapy patients should undergo. Artificial Intelligence is a technique that is very popular today. Various kinds of approaches and algorithms can be applied in the world of health, such as expert systems, neural networks and fuzzy logic. The aim of this study is to assess the artificial intelligence approach in predicting and recommending the type of therapy for patients with personality disorders.

Racemobambos ceramica ***. (Poaceae, Bambusoideae), an endemic bamboo species from Seram Island, Indonesia, was first described in 1980. The description was based on a single specimen ( Rutten 2234 ) collected in 1919 from Makina, deposited at Herbarium Bogoriense (BO). The protologue lacked details on the shoot, culm and culm leaf morphology. A 2024 rediscovery of R. ceramica at Manusela National Park, Seram Island, has expanded its known distribution beyond the original locality, marking its rediscovery after 105 years. This rediscovery offers a chance to refine the morphological description and evaluate its conservation status. It also provides data to predict habitat suitability and then forecast the distribution of R. ceramica on Seram Island. This study aimed to revise the taxonomic description of R. ceramica , assess its conservation status, and identify potential habitats across Seram Island. Research was conducted through field surveys on Seram Island and the analysis of herbarium specimens. Based on these findings, we provided a more detailed morphological description of R. ceramica . A preliminary assessment classifies R. ceramica as Near Threatened (NT) on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The habitat of R. ceramica is best suited to karst hill and mountain complexes, thriving on sloped terrain above 1000 m in forested areas. Our model predicts that R. ceramica habitat suitability is highest in the Manusela National Park highlands, especially around Mount Binaiya, spanning Seram Utara to northwestern Telutih, and in western (Taniwel and Taniwel Timur) and southern (Tehoru) Seram.

Celebrity disclosure prompts public discourse regarding appearance changes related to breast cancer care: a content analysis of Internet comments

Background: In an op-ed posted on the New York Times (NYT) website, Angelina Jolie disclosed that she carries the BRCA1 genetic mutation and received a preventive mastectomy. Studies have since demonstrated a positive impact of Ms. Jolie's disclosure on breast cancer-related health behaviors. This qualitative study used conventional content analysis of comments to the op-ed to explore intermediate outcomes of the disclosure;specifically, how the disclosure influenced public discourse regarding appearance changes related to breast cancer surgery. Method: After downloading all comments from the NYT website and using an iterative process to develop a standardized codebook, two researchers applied the codes using NVivo 10. Result: Five subthemes were identified in sixty-one comments discussing physical appearance or body image in the context of breast cancer treatment or preventive care: appearance versus health, perception of breast appearance following surgery, partner acceptance of appearance following surgery, beliefs about others’ reactions regarding appearance, and beliefs about reconstructive surgery. While some commenters shared body image concerns following surgery, many were relieved to have undergone the procedure, valuing health over appearance. Most women stated that their romantic partners praised their appearance following surgery, although some worried about how they were perceived in public. Conclusion: This study clarifies how celebrity disclosures about cancer may influence intermediate outcomes (e.g. interpersonal communication and beliefs about appearance-related surgical outcomes) hypothesized to contribute to changes in cancer prevention and treatment behaviors. More research is needed to further elucidate the relationships between celebrity disclosure, intermediate outcomes, and behavioral outcomes. © 2020, © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
