Zero trust in cybersecurity: managing critical challenges for effective implementation

Purpose: This study investigates the challenges of adopting Zero Trust (ZT) as a security strategy in contemporary organizations, where traditional security measures are insufficient. This paper aims to provide a robust and objective framework for managing ZT implementation through an integrated approach. Design/methodology/approach: An expert panel of 29 professionals contributed to identifying and weighting key management criteria for ZT adoption. This study used fuzzy Delphi to achieve consensus and the CRITIC (Criteria Importance through Intercriteria Correlation) method to ensure objectivity in determining criteria importance. Findings: The results reveal four critical dimensions – culture, operations and processes, compliance, and investments – along with 33 specific criteria essential for successful ZT implementation. This study highlights the potential for reversal of rank under dynamic decision-making conditions, emphasizing the necessity for continuous refinement and adaptation. Practical implications: The insights derived from this research offer valuable guidance for security leaders, professionals and consultants in navigating the complexities of ZT adoption. By addressing managerial challenges and providing a structured approach, this study contributes to a smoother transition from traditional cybersecurity models to ZT frameworks. Originality/value: This research offers a novel contribution to ZT management by applying an innovative, management-centered methodology to systematically identify and prioritize the critical challenges involved. It provides a structured framework that enables security managers to prioritize critical areas – cultural, financial, operational and compliance – essential for the successful implementation of ZT. © 2025, Emerald Publishing Limited.

This study investigates the variables affecting travelers' decision to visit heritage destinations. Heritage tourism can draw visitors because of its historical, cultural, and aesthetic significance. More studies are still required to further understand the elements influencing travelers' decisions to engage in historical tourism. The object of this research is tourists who intend to visit heritage tourism in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires online to 100 respondents consisting of domestic and foreign tourists. They were then processed using SmartPLS. The study results show that five variables affect tourists' intentions to visit heritage tourism: Heritage Value (HV), Travel Intention (TI), Visitor Engagement (VE), Quality of Experience (QE), and Social Media Preference (SMP). All these variables positively influence tourist intentions to visit cultural heritage sites. This study concludes that the government and related parties significantly promote heritage sites by prioritizing historical, cultural, and aesthetic values. In addition, associated parties must also pay attention to other factors, such as service quality and travel costs which can affect tourists' intentions to visit heritage sites. In this case, social media can also be an effective means of promoting heritage sites to tourists.

The industry is rapidly transitioning from the 4.0 era to the 5.0 era, prompting renewed interest among scholars in scheduling problems. They allow operations to process and assemble various components simultaneously. This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of the diverse research perspectives on the potential challenges of integrated scheduling within the framework. We identified 357 Scopus articles and analysed co-occurrence keyword (CNK) by VOSViewer tools and Global Citation Score (GCS) by Scopus tools. The research data obtained from 1993 to 2023 mainly in the subject areas of Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, and others. CNK identified six cluster keywords, and nine most cited articles based on normalised GCS. These results contribute to our understanding of the development of scheduling algorithms, shifting from an emphasis on manufacturing transfers to contemporary demand-centric research directions. Furthermore, this research provides a valuable perspective for policymakers, plant personnel, and manufacturing managers to make informed decisions.

Researchers' information needs in the bibliographic database: A literature review

This article presents a literature review whose aim was to identify the reported information needs of researchers when they consult bibliographic databases. Initially, 192 articles were retrieved using Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar databases. After applying the criteria for exclusion, the number of articles was reduced to 16, which is already an indicator of the small number of studies on this specific topic. The results show that it is hard to identify the information needs of researchers. They also show that the researchers have been requiring information with a higher degree of granularity. We conclude that although the available studies provide important information about the researchers' information needs and hints on how to address them, there is a need for more in-depth studies. The results of these deeper studies may be useful to serve as an indication for the creation of new procedures and tools, including those based on new metadata elements drawn to improve search results on Linked Open Data tools. © 2014-IOS Press and the authors.

Disaster management can be grouped into three stages with several activities that can be carried out starting from pre-disaster, during emergency response and post-disaster. In the pre-disasterstage one of which is mitigation, which is a series of efforts to reduce disaster risk, both through physical development and awareness raising and capacity to face the threat of disaster. In mitigation one important factor is about evacuation. Evacuation locations in disaster transportation management are urgently needed for an effective evacuation process. Evacuation location determination is a benchmark in handling evacuation that can minimize the impact of losses from the disaster. To determine the evacuation location dynamically using game theory can solve the problem by providing several alternative locations by showing the dominant factor in the variables in the selection of the evacuation site. Game theory will use pure and mixed strategies to provide the most optimum choice of criteria. With this method will produce a decision support system to determine the optimal evacuation location or safe area in disaster mitigation © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Security of data text file on a computer can be done by utilizing encryption and decryption techniques. One technique is encryption and decryption of data encryption system text file with cryptography. Cryptography is the science or art to randomize and secure the message to avoid the manipulation of data by performing encryption and decryption on the data of the text file. Cryptographic algorithm consists of several types of one example is the algorithm Rivest Shamir Adleman (RSA). The RSA algorithm is one of asymmetric cryptography technique ie riptografi modern technique that hastwo keys of the public key used for encryption and a private key techniques to make the process deskripsi. The purpose of this research is to design and implement RSA cryptography algorithm on text file data security. The results of this design is a dekstop based software. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a terrifying pandemic that is rapidly spreading over the world. Up to this point, Hungary has had a significant COVID-19 death rate. The main purpose of this article is to model and forecast basic seasonal time series for COVID-19 death rates. The COVID 19 data, which was collected between 2020-10-04 and 2021-05-12 by the Hungarian government and the World Health Organization (WHO), has been used. The data was analyzed and models were fitted using R software version 4.1.2. The statistical time series model is fitted with the Multiplicative Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) model. Forecasts are made using the fitted model. The data output is used to find seasonality, trend patterns, and unstable variance patterns in the time series plot. The trend is made stationary using the starting difference of the converted data approach, and the variance is made constant using the logarithmic transformation of the original data set. Based on the Autocorrelation Function (ACF) and Partial Autocorrelation Function (PACF) plot data, the ARIMA (1, 1, 2) (1, 0, 1) (7) model is proposed. The standardized residuals, ACF of residuals, normal Q-Q plot, and p-value for Ljung-Box statistics of the fitted model were found to be within confidence limits and to have no distinct behavioral pattern. The ARIMA (1, 1, 2) (1, 0, 1) (7) model has the smallest estimated value, with a sigma square estimated value of 0.02764, log-likelihood = 80.41, and an Akaike information Criterion (AIC) value of 148.82. As a consequence, the fitted model ARIMA (1,1,2) (1,0,1) (7) is identified as the best model for forecasting the COVID-19 daily death rate in the country. © 2022 IEEE.

We propose a new statistical modeling method to analyze functional relationship between predictor variables and correlated response variables, and apply it for modeling the number of HIV and AIDS cases influenced by early-age marriages and contraceptive users. The proposed method is LS-Spline BNNBR that is a Biresponse Nonparametric Negative Binomial Regression (BNNBR) based on least squares spline (LS-Spline). To validate the proposed method, we compare it with classical method, namely Ordinary Least Square Biresponse Parametric Negative Binomial Regression (OLS-BPNBR). The results show that the LS-Spline BNNBR method provided deviance value of 7.542334 which is smaller than that of OLS-BPNBR method, namely 7.993935. Thus, the proposed method has better prediction fit than the classical method. • This study discusses new statistical modeling method for the number of HIV and AIDS cases influenced by early-age marriages and contraceptive users where the response variables are correlated with each other. • The model estimation results show that the number of HIV and AIDS cases in Indonesia will decrease if the early-age marriages percentage increases and the contraceptive users percentage decreases. • The results are useful to provide a scientific basis for making policies to control the number of HIV and AIDS cases in Indonesia. © 2025 The Authors

In this paper, method that can detect sentence similarity by considering active sentences and passive sentences is proposed. Indonesian language has several types of sentences, which have different sentence patterns. Although the sentences are different, there are still chances of similarity between one sentence with another sentence in the document. Sentence similarity in the document encourages the act of plagiarism. This problem needs to be identified in order to avoid plagiarism in the document. Experiments were conducted on 60 single sentences, which consists of 30 active sentences and 30 passive sentences, and were verified by Indonesian language experts. The results have shown a promising identification capability of active and passive sentences, which can be used for plagiarism detection. © 2017 IEEE.

This research introduces a deep learning framework that combines convolutional neural networks with autoencoders to improve the diagnostic accuracy of knee osteoarthritis. The study utilized a publicly available dataset from the Mendeley Data repository, where knee joint images were preprocessed using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization to enhance contrast and ensure consistent image sizing. Initially, an autoencoder was employed in an unsupervised manner to learn compressed representations of the data. These representations were then used to train a CNN to classify knee images into 'healthy' and 'osteoarthritic' categories. The model was trained using an 80:20 split for training and testing data, incorporating early stopping and data augmentation techniques to prevent overfitting and enhance generalization. Performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (ROCAUC) were used to evaluate the model, resulting in a high test accuracy of 98.95%. The high precision and recall rates further confirmed the model's robustness in diagnosing KOA. To enhance interpretability, Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) was applied to identify critical regions in the images that influenced the model's decisions. Additionally, t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) was used to visualize the high-dimensional encoded features in a two-dimensional space, providing deeper insights into how the model differentiates between classes. The promising results of this deep learning approach suggest its potential for broader applications in medical imaging diagnostics. By providing healthcare professionals with a tool that enhances diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency, this framework lays the foundation for developing scalable, AI-driven diagnostic systems for various complex medical conditions. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing.
