A behavioral strategy designed for a humanoid robot for the purpose of obstacle avoidance based on four ultrasonic sensors for the learning behavior and performance is proposed and implemented with an autonomous humanoid robot. A mechanical structure with 4 degrees of freedom is designed so that a small-size humanoid robot named ARSR is able to accomplish three types of walking motion. One experiment is presented to illustrate ow the the proposed bipedal structure lets the ARSR move forward, turn left and turn right. Four ultrasonic sensors are mounted on the ARSR to obtain environmental information and detect obstacles. Based on the information obtained from these sensors, a decision tree method is proposed to decide upon one behavior from three possible types of movement: walk forward, turn left and turn right. An experiment is carried out to show how the robot can autonomously avoid obstacles to effectively arrive at its destination. Based on the mechanic design and development, we will get a good agreement for the learning behavior and performance. ©2010 IEEE.

The rising environmental challenges in waste management have prompted an urgent need for effective recycling initiatives. This study investigates the intention of Generation Z (Gen-Z) in Indonesia to participate in a Deposit Refund System (DRS), a system aimed at promoting recycling behaviors. Using a convergent mixed-method approach, quantitative data from 228 respondents were analyzed via Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess relationships between intention, distrust, environmental concern, and behavioral intention. Qualitative data analysis, employing vector embedding and k-means clustering, revealed key patterns and themes in Gen-Z’s attitudes. Integration of qualitative and quantitative results through PLS-SEM provided a comprehensive understanding of Gen-Z motivations towards environmental sustainability. The results show that environmental concern positively impacts behavioral intention, while distrust was found to be statistically insignificant. This study offers practical and academic insights for policymakers to design more effective DRS initiatives. Future research could explore the long-term behavioral shifts resulting from DRS participation and the role of digital platforms in enhancing engagement.

It is a hard job for two teachers to deal with 30 students in a preschool classroom in Taiwan. Teachers need to take photos and manage paper documents related to each student's activities and assessments, then print all of them to show to their parents. This is not an efficient and effective working style. In order to support e-education and mitigate these issues in the education domain via application of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, this paper thoroughly investigates appropriate features of previous studies related to e-education and the PDCA computing system. It then proposes the design of an online information system for the "check" stage in the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle or OISC for evaluating Taiwanese preschool students' learning. The design is simple and equipped with current technologies such as mobile applications. We provided the details of all components and technologies in this design and how the design works, which is arranged for participants to use as a blueprint of an e-education system such as OISC that can be built upon the participants' requirements. We believe that a system based on our design can help teachers to work effectively and efficiently. Thus, this paper can be regarded as an example of adopting an e-education approach to evaluating and enhancing students' learning performance. © 2019 ACM.

The global trend in broadband internet services reveals an increased focus on reliability, customer service, and integrating new technologies like IoT, 5G, or FMC. Customer service is primarily determined by network quality and reliability, price, and the quality of customer support provided by ISPs. Meanwhile, existing network quality measurement methods often involve numerous parameters, ranging from download speed and server response time to video streaming quality, each providing a separate insight into aspects of user experience. Therefore, the importance of the composite index method is becoming increasingly relevant. This method allows the integration of these various parameters into a single, easily understandable integrated index, simplifying complex data analysis into a more concise and interpretable form. As a result of this approach, internet service providers can more effectively monitor and enhance the customer experience and the overall quality of their services for various purposes with a single composite parameter value, providing reassurance and confidence in their operations.

Background: Consumer skepticism affects trust between online shoppers and shop owners in digital commerce, necessitating effective distrust detection mechanisms. This study presents a conceptual model aimed at promoting the adoption of distrust detection and recognition technology among online shop owners, focusing on technologies powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). The model builds on Taylor's Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior (DTPB) and incorporates factors relevant to online shop owners' perceptions of consumer distrust. Method: A quantitative research approach was used to survey 100 online shop owners to validate the model empirically. Results: The results indicate a significant effect of Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Social Influence (SI) on intention to adopt the technology. For small businesses such as online shops, PU (an internal factor) and SI (an external factor) can predict owners' intention to adopt distrust detection technology. Implications: This study highlights a simplified method for measuring small business owners' intention to adopt advanced information technologies and suggests business opportunities for e-commerce platforms to strategically position online shop owners.

Due to a high level of uncertainty, entrepreneurship is generally considered a risky endeavor. This paper explores the factors impacting entrepreneurial behavior in order to identify new educational opportunities for its development. The paper explores perceived feasibility and desirability for students in 10 countries. The entrepreneurship role is gender tested against desirability and feasibility. The requirements for developing this skill set are also studied. A survey instrument was developed, and data was collected from 4281 students. The results indicate that gender impacts entrepreneurship intention and the way it impacts is influenced by which country the students are from. © 2016, Daim et al.

The present study determines the environmental quality and carrying capacity for the restoration of the degraded mangroves in Southeast Sulawesi. The physico-chemical conditions of estuarine water and its sediment nutrient contents were determined in both protected and unprotected areas, with no significant difference (p > 0.05) except for nitrogen and inorganic carbon contents of water. The current study found promising environments for the restoration of degraded mangroves in unprotected areas in Southeast Sulawesi. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

A New Bunun Aborigines’ Educational Aspect of Cultural Identity Design in Taiwan

The Tongpu community is a minority Bunun aborigine tribe located in Jade Mountain area. Due to its location in the national park, the economic development is vulnerable by the impact of national policy, leading to widening gaps between rich and poor, and population exodus, etc. Although this area is rich for its cultural and natural landscape, the Tongpu is reliant on farming, primarily fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, plums, sweet pepper, and tea. Our research team members have first contacted Tongpu community in 2010, for helping the local community to build their new Bunun Aborigines’ Tribal characteristics through Cultural Identity Design. Then, again in 2012 we helped Tongpu community to construct their logos systems for the farmers through educational process with the aid of our students. As the design workers, we hope to inspire new creativity and to introduce various products and exclusive images of the Tongpu community, in addition to activating the local industry thus increasing the income of the residents, and enhancing the visibility of the local culture. We aim at empowering Tongpu's aboriginal history, their geography and cultural connotations, to let their voices be heard, in order to create a formative cultural brand name in the near future.

Use of multicriteria decision aid methods in the context of sustainable innovations: bibliometrics, applications and trends

Sustainable innovation has gained prominence in recent years, due to the demands imposed by global competition, social pressures and the needs of consumers and the environment. Decision-making processes about sustainable innovation are complex and often require auxiliary instruments to reduce uncertainties. Multicriteria decision aid (MCDA) methods can be a useful tool to make these kinds of decisions more assertive. This article presents the main discussions and theoretical approaches through bibliometrics on the application of MCDA methods in the context of sustainable innovations. We used the R package Bibliometrix library to organize the data of the publications and perform the processing for the generated analyzes. The bibliometric analysis provided an overview about the use of MCDA in sustainable innovations (MIS) and it presents citation analysis;identification of central authors through co-citation analysis;main topics, conceptual structure and thematic evolution of the literature by co-word analysis. As main results, we identified the main trends in MIS: there has been a substantial increase in publications on this theme, and the most explored focuses are “product development, production and distribution” and “environmental or social impact assessment” and there is an opportunity to further explore the focuses of “evaluation or selection of projects, suppliers or resources”, “product life cycle management or assessment” and “definition of decision criteria and standards for sustainable innovation performance”. In addition, several MCDA tools have been successfully used for studies of sustainable innovations, demonstrating that there is no preferable method to use for a given focus. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

To generate a research overview of digital banking, we did a bibliometric analysis. In our bibliometric analysis, we identified 2475 papers about digital banking that were published in the previous 10 years (2013–2023) from 1492 different sources under the direction of 6777 academics. The bibliographic information was gathered using the Scopus database. The dataset was examined using the bibliometric R program Biblioshiny. The number of digital banking research publications published each year, the most relevant author, the most cited articles, thematic maps, and trending topics are all listed. A keyword analysis showed that “blockchain”, “security”, “digital banking”, and “digital storage” appeared most often. The research results will be significant to scholars, researchers, and policymakers in banking, as the study showed the roadmap and pathways to scientifically understanding current and future research trends.
