A boundary tracking method crucial to function approximation-based image coding is proposed that solves the problems caused by duplicate tracking the common boundaries of color regions when methods conventionally applied to bilevel raster images are inappropriately used. Experimental evaluation is performed to verify its effectiveness.

Defects in gastric progenitor cell differentiation are associated with various gastric disorders, including atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, and gastric cancer. However, the mechanisms underlying the multilineage differentiation of gastric progenitor cells during healthy homeostasis remain poorly understood. Here, using a single-cell RNA sequencing method, Quartz-Seq2, we analyzed the gene expression dynamics of progenitor cell differentiation toward pit cell, neck cell, and parietal cell lineages in healthy adult mouse corpus tissues. Enrichment analysis of pseudotime-dependent genes and a gastric organoid assay revealed that EGFR-ERK signaling promotes pit cell differentiation, whereas NF-κB signaling maintains gastric progenitor cells in an undifferentiated state. In addition, pharmacological inhibition of EGFR in vivo resulted in a decreased number of pit cells. Although activation of EGFR signaling in gastric progenitor cells has been suggested as one of the major inducers of gastric cancers, our findings unexpectedly identified that EGFR signaling exerts a differentiation-promoting function, not a mitogenic function, in normal gastric homeostasis.

The rising environmental challenges in waste management have prompted an urgent need for effective recycling initiatives. This study investigates the intention of Generation Z (Gen-Z) in Indonesia to participate in a Deposit Refund System (DRS), a system aimed at promoting recycling behaviors. Using a convergent mixed-method approach, quantitative data from 228 respondents were analyzed via Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess relationships between intention, distrust, environmental concern, and behavioral intention. Qualitative data analysis, employing vector embedding and k-means clustering, revealed key patterns and themes in Gen-Z’s attitudes. Integration of qualitative and quantitative results through PLS-SEM provided a comprehensive understanding of Gen-Z motivations towards environmental sustainability. The results show that environmental concern positively impacts behavioral intention, while distrust was found to be statistically insignificant. This study offers practical and academic insights for policymakers to design more effective DRS initiatives. Future research could explore the long-term behavioral shifts resulting from DRS participation and the role of digital platforms in enhancing engagement.

Background: Consumer skepticism affects trust between online shoppers and shop owners in digital commerce, necessitating effective distrust detection mechanisms. This study presents a conceptual model aimed at promoting the adoption of distrust detection and recognition technology among online shop owners, focusing on technologies powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). The model builds on Taylor's Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior (DTPB) and incorporates factors relevant to online shop owners' perceptions of consumer distrust. Method: A quantitative research approach was used to survey 100 online shop owners to validate the model empirically. Results: The results indicate a significant effect of Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Social Influence (SI) on intention to adopt the technology. For small businesses such as online shops, PU (an internal factor) and SI (an external factor) can predict owners' intention to adopt distrust detection technology. Implications: This study highlights a simplified method for measuring small business owners' intention to adopt advanced information technologies and suggests business opportunities for e-commerce platforms to strategically position online shop owners.

Variable-Speed Teaching-Playback as Real-World Data Augmentation for Imitation Learning

Because imitation learning relies on human demonstrations in hard-to-simulate settings, the inclusion of force control in this method has resulted in a shortage of training data, even with a simple change in speed. Although the field of data augmentation has addressed the lack of data, conventional methods of data augmentation for robot manipulation are limited to simulation-based methods or downsampling for position control. This paper proposes a novel method of data augmentation that is applicable to force control and preserves the advantages of real-world datasets. We applied teaching-playback at variable speeds as real-world data augmentation to increase both the quantity and quality of environmental reactions at variable speeds. An experiment was conducted on bilateral control-based imitation learning using a method of imitation learning equipped with position-force control. We evaluated the effect of real-world data augmentation on two tasks, pick-and-place and wiping, at variable speeds, each from two human demonstrations at fixed speed. The results showed a maximum 55% increase in success rate from a simple change in speed of real-world reactions and improved accuracy along the duration/frequency command by gathering environmental reactions at variable speeds. Digital technology is currently a vital medium to influence consumers with diverse behaviours and a high level of sensitivity when purchasing goods and services. The purpose of this study is to analyse the impact of exposure to digital technology and user-generated content on the brand purchase intention of travel packages in the Bali tourism sector. As digital technology changes the way we communicate or convey information to attract consumers, one of the methods used to attract consumers is user-generated content (UGC) to create a more intimate engagement between products, services, and consumers. A total of 200 tourists who bought tour packages were used as respondents using accidental sampling. The results of the study explain that digital technology and user integration center have a significant influence on brand purchase intention, and brand exposure and brand familiarity have a considerable positive influence on brand purchase intention. A different influence is found: brand knowledge and attitude have a negative impact on brand purchase intention. The results of this study can enrich knowledge about the currently developing topic of e-marketing aimed at academics. From a practical perspective, this research can provide marketers with insight into the effectiveness of content as an advertising platform in the travel and tourism industry.

This study proposes an approach to improve sales forecasting accuracy by integrating System Dynamics (SD) modeling with the Random Forest (RF) algorithm. The combination of these two methods offers a promising way to make sales predictions more reliable, especially in uncertain market conditions. Using SD principles within the RF algorithm helps us simulate expected sales growth, gain insights into market dynamics, and make our forecasting model more understandable to stakeholders. This study using synthetic sales data shows that the integrated approach is offered as an open idea and customizable, particularly in scenarios with dynamic growth patterns and feedback effects.

Within the scope of industry 5.0, mixed reality (MR) is an eminent technology for problem solving and process optimization. The present research aimed to assess how users perceive an augmented reality (AR) application for diagnosis and intervention on industrial equipment. 18 participants with 3 different professional and technological backgrounds (general users (GU), information technology users (SD) and human centered design experts (HF)) took part in this study. Generally, the developed system was valued as slightly positive and some improvement points were identified. The results also revealed differences in the perceived User Experience (UX) between different user profiles. Also, there are important differences in perception depending on the person's analysis experience, with less rigor for new users and higher rigor for people who work with human factors, for example. This reinforce the concept of user centered design and the importance to understand the human being in its relation with the novel user interface and tendency to new technologies. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

EXtended Reality (XR) has numerous applications in industrial contexts, including to assist in activities such as preventive maintenance and/or reactive interventions in machinery, wherein time-effectiveness is required to mitigate the costs of inactive production lines or the need to subcontract specialized technicians to perform those operations. However, developing an Augmented Reality (AR) application capable of being user-friendly and truly serviceable for aiding in the referred context requires keeping in mind human factors as key aspects and, as such, interaction must be a concern to address, namely, considering user feedback. Therefore, starting from a previous AR system oriented to industrial interventions that was developed and assessed with users and considering the feedback of the participant, the duly alterations were done and a new test was conducted, with a total of 27 participants, divided into 2 groups: 11 users who participated in the first experience and 16 general users who had never contacted with the solution before. A qualitative improvement in the user experience was noticed from the questionnaires feedback. Points such as fluidity, responsiveness, ease, speed, and intuitiveness were highlighted. Sports Science is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary science that strives to increase athletic performance and endurance. Sport Science recognizes and prevents injuries. Sensors and statistics formalize Sports Science. Runners need coaches and teams to support them before, during, and after the run race. Coaches generate running training plans to boost performance. Running race performances may be impacted by air pollution exposure while training, so coaches should consider limiting air pollution exposure when training. One of the external factors is Particulate Matter (PM 2.5 and PM 10 ). Sensors connecting to the Internet can record external factors and produce csv data. The foundation of supervised machine learning is the labeling process. Labeling a set of data is one of the laborious and time-consuming phases in every machine-learning application because it requires verifying the accuracy of the labels and making any necessary revisions. This research aimed to find a solution to automatically label numerous air particulate matter raw data using a rule based on parameters to reduce manual work, human errors and faster processes. This labeled data will later be used for supervised machine learning classification to support the coach in generating training programs for the runners in a Sports information System. Based on Indonesia Air Quality index rule-based approach, labeled text data in csv has been generated and tested with PM 2.5 and PM 10 parameters in three scenarios with a 100% success rate. It was possible to automate the labeling process, and it explained how automation results in fast and accurate results.
