We report the electronic recording of the touch contact and pressure using an active matrix pressure sensor array made of transparent zinc oxide thin-film transistors and tactile feedback display using an array of diaphragm actuators made of an interpenetrating polymer elastomer network. Digital replay, editing and manipulation of the recorded touch events were demonstrated with both spatial and temporal resolutions. Analog reproduction of the force is also shown possible using the polymer actuators, despite of the high driving voltage. The ability to record, store, edit, and replay touch information adds an additional dimension to digital technologies and extends the capabilities of modern information exchange with the potential to revolutionize physical learning, social networking, e-commerce, robotics, gaming, medical and military applications.

As the rapid growth of smart phone technology, people have a lot of digital image information such as digital photos or videos. Both data hiding and data compression are very important technologies in image processing field. On the overview, it seems that there is no relationship between data hiding and data compression because data hiding mechanisms focus on information security and data compression mechanisms emphasize the compression ratio. However, the more secret data is embedded, the more capacity the stego image increases. Actually, they are closely related. Until now, there are many literatures to discuss the secret data how to be embedded into the media image and keeps the original capacity as soon as possible. In this paper, a reversible data hiding scheme based on EMD data hiding and JPEG (Joint Picture Experts Group) compression technology will be proposed. According to experimental results, the authors can prove that our proposed scheme maintains high embedding capacity, security and good compression ratio.

Meaning-preserving Skolemization is essential for development of a correct and efficient method of solving query-answering problems. It requires global existential quantifications of function variables, which in turn require an extended space of logical formulas. This paper proposes a bottom-up procedure for computing a set of models that sufficiently represents the set of all models of a given clause set in the extended formula space. Instantiations of function variables often result in generation of infinitely many models. To overcome the difficulty, a model-making pattern is introduced for representing a possibly infinite number of models, and such a pattern is split as late as possible. The proposed procedure provides a method for solving query-answering problems that include unrestricted use of universal and existential quantifications. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

A variety of network deployments in disaster recovery, fire fighting and military scenarios create networks that do not form a connected network all the time. In such scenarios, paths between a source and destination may be created over time when nodes encounter each other due to node mobility. Many routing algorithms that can route messages in such delay-tolerant networking (DTN) settings have been proposed. Currently, these protocols do not differentiate between the messages that are being routed through the network treating all messages equally. But, there are DTN scenarios, in particular in military situations, where it is critical that messages are differentiated based on their importance to the task being supported. In this paper, we propose extensions to two popular DTN routing protocols, Epidemic and PROPHET, to implement such message prioritization. We implemented the proposed extensions in ONE (Opportunistic Network Emulator) and studied the performance of these extensions. Results from our simulation analysis demonstrate that it is possible to implement message prioritization in non-deterministic delay tolerant networks and provide us with insights into configuring message prioritization in DTN. In particular, the importance of selecting optimal queue lengths at each node to mitigate congestion in such networks. © 2012 IEEE.

In order to tackle the data transmission bottlenecks of the gateway node in clustering Ad hoc Networks, the paper proposes a communication method. Firstly, DMAC(Distributed and Mobility-Adaptive Clustering) algorithm and Omni-directional antenna is well introduced and discussed. Then the ICMMDA(The Inter-cluster Communication Method based on Directional Antennas) policy building virtual channels between two hops away cluster-head and using directional antenna is brought about. Lastly, the simulation shows that the method can reduce the end-to-end delay between two clusters and improve the network throughput.

As IT advances, warfare undergoing a paradigm shifts. It is going from a type that is weapon-based-making heavy use of conventional weapons-to one that is network-based, a type of warfare called network-centric warfare (NCW). In NCW, sharing of information can be guaranteed using communication technologies of the network. As the members that take part in missions can exchange and collaborate with other, they can be completed more successfully and efficiently, increasing the military might. Amid advancements being made in IT, the Korea military is also doing research for conducting more effective warfare, which it aims to do by connecting each of the entities together and sharing battlefield resources. This paper examines threats to information security in NCW, as well as requirements for information security. Furthermore, a development direction for information security is proposed. © 2012 Springer science+Business Media.

Business processes modeling projects are increasingly widespread in organizations, which usually invest much in hiring expert consultants to do such job. These consultants come from various organizations, and have different experiences on how to perform the same activity. Spatially proximate amino acids in a protein tend to coevolve. A protein's three-dimensional (3D) structure hence leaves an echo of correlations in the evolutionary record. Reverse engineering 3D structures from such correlations is an open problem in structural biology, pursued with increasing vigor as more and more protein sequences continue to fill the data banks. Within this task lies a statistical inference problem, rooted in the following: correlation between two sites in a protein sequence can arise from firsthand interaction but can also be network-propagated via intermediate sites; observed correlation is not enough to guarantee proximity. To separate direct from indirect interactions is an instance of the general problem of inverse statistical mechanics, where the task is to learn model parameters (fields, couplings) from observables (magnetizations, correlations, samples) in large systems. In the context of protein sequences, the approach has been referred to as direct-coupling analysis. Here we show that the pseudolikelihood method, applied to 21-state Potts models describing the statistical properties of families of evolutionarily related proteins, significantly outperforms existing approaches to the direct-coupling analysis, the latter being based on standard mean-field techniques. This improved performance also relies on a modified score for the coupling strength. The results are verified using known crystal structures of specific sequence instances of various protein families. Code implementing the new method can be found at http://***/.
