Anaerobic fermentation for hydrogen production has many environmental factors that limit microbial activity, but machine learning has enormous potential in handling the complexity of biological processes. This study explores the potential of machine learning in predicting hydrogen production rates (HPR) from anaerobic fermentation of biomass energy. Grey relation analysis was conducted to determine the correlation between operational parameters and HPR. Five machine learning algorithms, such as decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and K-nearest neighbor (KNN), were then paired with operating conditions and water quality performance as features and HPR as a label, with mean squared error (MSE) and R2 as evaluation indexes. Butyric acid, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), and volatile suspended solids (VSS) were found to play crucial roles in hydrogen production from sucrose anaerobic fermentation. XGBoost had the highest accuracy with R2 of 0.91 and MSE of 0.0052. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Researchers and experts have developed various techniques, models, and methods to predict the price movements of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin. However, among the many techniques studied in the literature, there is still a lack of focus on mining, creating, and developing datasets with specific patterns for predicting the next cryptocurrency price movement. This is an exciting reason to conduct further research. A web-based Patterned Dataset Application and a Telegram bot were constructed to address this issue. These tools read the price position of each cryptocurrency and predict the next price direction based on the last position indicated by the Patterned Dataset Application. The experiment’s results show that when the Patterned Dataset Application shows a diamond crash position, it is time to make a purchase; conversely, when it shows a diamond moon position, it is time to make a sale. It is hoped that by utilizing the Patterned Dataset Application, potential losses can be minimized, and there is more potential for profit in cryptocurrency trading. Even though the initial data source comes from Indonesia’s most prominent digital cryptocurrency trading market, according to coinmarketcap, namely Indodax, the results of this patterned dataset application can often describe the same cryptocurrency conditions globally. The novelty of this research is to produce a new way of predicting the next cryptocurrency price movement using patterned datasets. At the end of this paper, it will be proven that hypothesis 1 and hypothesis 2 on the results of the patterned dataset are true.

This article aims to compare forecasting techniques with machine learning techniques for predicting the number of people injured in road accidents using data from the Injury information Collaboration Center, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health Outpatient Files (OPD) spanning the years 2018 to 2022. The four machine-learning techniques examined in this study include Decision Tree Regression, Random Forest Regression, Support Vector Regression, and Multiple Linear Regression. The data analysis was performed using the R programming language. The results revealed that the Decision Tree Regression technique yielded the most accurate predictions for the number of road traffic injuries, as evidenced by its lowest values of MAE, MSE, and RMSE.

This article proposes an intelligent platform for monitoring students' steps on their way to school until they leave the school to their homes. This platform can identify students and notify those responsible and competent authorities in various situations of school life, such as: entering and leaving the school bus, entering and leaving school, entering the school cafeteria, etc. The first application aims to control access to the school bus through facial recognition. In the tests carried out, the recognition system achieved excellent results in all metrics.

Iris recognition is an attractive field of research for the purpose of identifying people based on unique patterns extracted from their iris. Accurate iris recognition requires high quality of iris images with the most discriminating features and minimum variation level. Analyzing and encoding of an iris image captured by a real (i.e., non-ideal) imaging system is a crucial issue. This paper presents a new iris pattern for human identification;i.e., partial iris pattern, instead of the whole iris. Then, a feature-set consisting of Gabor and Zernike moments is used for feature extraction and matching. The features are calculated to the ninth order. Two datasets are used for testing and evaluating the proposed technique. The experiential results show that the proposed technique is reliable, promising, and can be applied in real world imaging systems. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

In this paper, we study the influence of applying the well-known finite differences method on medical and physical images. These images will be used as coefficients in the steps of the solution after the images being imported and converted to arrays. The aim of the study is to show and analyze the changes that could happen to images for the sake of an enhancement. Experiments of one dimension and two dimensions will be illustrated by applying the explicit and the implicit methods using MATLAB to explain the way of how these methods affect images. Furthermore, we will study and measure the quality of the proposed images in each phase of the experiments using statistical metrics such as PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio), MSE (Mean Squared Error), MD (Maximum Difference) and some other statistical metrics. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The cooking process significantly influences consumer perception and preference for meat. This study systematically compares the sensory and neurophysiological responses elicited by beef processed via five cooking methods, including boiling (BO), sous-vide (SV), roasting (RO), pan-frying (PF), and deep-frying (DF). Sensory evaluations combining a check-all-that-apply (CATA) questionnaire and hedonic scaling revealed that RO, PF, and DF treatments produced richer flavors and more intense aromas, linked to higher hedonic ratings. In contrast, SV and BO yielded milder sensory profiles with lower flavor intensity and less consumer preference. Electroencephalography (EEG) analysis supported these findings by showing that high-heat methods elicited stronger neural responses, especially in the α, β, and γ frequency bands, which are associated with pleasure, appetite, and cognitive engagement, particularly prominent during olfactory and gustatory tests. Source localization further revealed greater activation in brain regions involved in sensory, reward, memory, emotion, and motivation for high-heat treated beef, demonstrating the connection between enhanced flavor complexity of high-temperature process and consumer appeal. Converging evidence from subjective sensory evaluation and neurophysiological analysis highlights the central role of thermal processing in enhancing food palatability and consumer satisfaction, offering practical insights for improving beef preparation in the food industry. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The use of the MathML language made possible to improve the accessibility of mathematics for blind or low-vision persons in digital media. Synthetic speech technologies have advanced significantly using MathML, however, the speech synthesizers' standard reading style is still not suitable for mathematics. Making mathematical reading of the speech synthesizers more natural and expressive is still a challenge. The creation of models to produce the appropriate prosody in the synthesized speech of math content is therefore necessary, as shown in previous research. This article presents a proposal for a model to improve prosody in the synthesized speech of mathematical expressions based on MathML. A corpus of mathematical expressions spoken by Mathematics teachers was created to support the model's development. The Fujisaki intonation model was adopted for intonation control, accent and phrase commands have been extracted from the corpus, and some adjustments have been made to manipulate prosodic parameters in the speech of mathematical expression in correlation with the MathML tree; additionally, a pattern of pauses control is being created.
