Improving LIFS image coding via extended condensations

Local iterated function system (LIFS) image coding is currently a main topic of fractal image coding and is being studied from various points of view. However, its performance is still inferior to conventional schemes such as JPEG. This paper proposes a novel local transformation called extended condensation and reports that the LIFS coding scheme is significantly improved by combining the technique with Ida's average separation scheme. When the compression ratio is high, a better decoded image is acquired by the proposed scheme than by JPEG.

This paper presents an application of evolutionary fuzzy classifier design to a road accident data analysis. A fuzzy classifier evolved by the genetic programming was used to learn the labeling of data in a real world road accident data set. The symbolic classifier was inspected in order to select important features and the relations among them. Selected features provide a feedback for traffic management authorities that can exploit the knowledge to improve road safety and mitigate the severity of traffic accidents. © 2012 IEEE.

We address mobility management for the Internet Protocol version 6 in mobile networks, namely Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6). To correctly transfer IPv6 packets to a mobile node (MN), the MN has to update its binding to the home network while roaming away from its home network. Mobile IP networks suffer high binding update traffic from high rates of handoffs and the long packet delivery delay from the large distance to the home network. In this paper, we introduce a dynamic and distributed mobility management protocol for MIPv6 to reduce the binding update and packet delivery delay and traffic. We describe the basic protocol operations, and examine the performance improvement of our mobility management against the previous Mobile IP mobility management methods. We show that the dynamic and distributed mobility management method outperforms other previous methods, and the dynamic approach provides the optimal mobility solution for MIPv6 and the distributed approach can decentralize the network load. ©2003 IEEE.

Speech recognition and response system technology in service robot research continues to evolve alongside technical advances and the increasing demand for intelligent automation across industries. The development of machine learning, digital signal processing, and artificial neural networks has brought significant advancements to speech recognition systems. While speech recognition has been implemented in various systems, there is limited discussion on categorizing these systems by examining four aspects: speech recognition applications, datasets used, emotional speech recognition, and automatic speech recognition. In this study, a review of these four aspects is conducted, focusing on the algorithms and methods used, along with their advantages and disadvantages, particularly in the context of implementing them in service robots using the Indonesian language. This study involves a literature review of 100 research papers from the last five years. The review concludes that the use of the transformer method combined with other techniques and Indonesian language datasets is still very limited. Therefore, future research will focus on developing and implementing these methods in humanoid service robots. © 2024 IEEE.

A research on developing a system that integrates clean production and waste water treatment for biogas production in tofu small industry has been conducted. In this research, tofu waste water was turned into biogas using an AnSBR reactor. Mud from the sewage system serves as the inoculums. This research involved: (1) workshop;(2) supervising;(3) technical meeting;(4) network meeting, and (5) technical application. Implementation of clean production integrated with waste water treatment reduced the amount of waste water to be treated in a treatment plant. This means less cost for construction and operation of waste water treatment plants, as inherent limitations associated with such plants like lack of fund, limited area, and technological issues are inevitable. Implementation of clean production prior to waste water treatment reduces pollution figures down to certain levels that limitations in waste water treatment plants can be covered. Results show that biogas in 16 days HRT in an AnSBR reactor contains CH4(78.26 %) and CO2 (20.16 %). Meanwhile, treatments using a conventional bio-digester result in biogas with 72.16 % CH4 and 18.12 % CO2. Hence, biogas efficiency for the AnSBR system is 2.14 times greater than that of a conventional bio-digester. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

Minimizing overhead resulting from context switching is a prerequisite for effective real-time multi-processing. Our heterogeneous data-driven processor has shown its multi-processing capability without extending turn-around time of any process as long as enough processing resource is available. However, the heterogeneous multi-processor system connected by a non-uniform network can yield bottlenecks that prevent it from meeting performance requirements unless program allocation is optimized during preprocessing. To avoid overload at the bottlenecks, we need a prototyping scheme to verify each processor's load. This paper discusses an emulation facility for an elastic pipeline structure. To effective emulate our data-driven processor, fine-grained parallel processing is required because the elastic pipeline structure makes up an autonomous processor without a centralized clock. By testing our data-driven processor used as an emulation facility to emulate fine-grained pipeline parallelism, we show its effectiveness. © 1999, Springer-Verlag. All rights reserved.

In Internet, IP multicast has been used successfully to provide an efficient, best-effort delivery service for group communication applications. However, applications such as multiparty private conference, distribution of stock market information, pay per view and other subscriber services require secure multicast to protect integrity and confidentiality of the group traffic, and validate group member's authenticity. Providing secure multicast for group communication is problematic without a robust group key management. In this paper, we propose an anonymous group key management with ID-based Signature and secret sharing technologies to distribute a new group key securely to each participant of a group with only one rekey message whenever the group membership changes. The key management guarantees that a legal user, without revealing his/her real identity, can join a group after finishing the mutual authentication with the group initiator, and enforces the forward secrecy and backward secrecy.

Pollution of domestic wastewater becomes an urban problem. Domestic wastewater contains a variety of pollutants. One of the pollutant parameters in domestic wastewater is BOD. Domestic wastewater which BOD concentrations exceeding the quality standard will be harmful to the environment, particularly the receiving water body. Therefore, before being discharged into the environment, domestic wastewater needs to be processed first. One of the processing that has high efficiency, low cost and easy operation is biofilter technology. The purpose of this research was to analyze the efficiency of BOD concentration reduction in domestic wastewater with anaerobic reactor biofilter using volcanic gravel media. The type of reactor used is an anaerobic biofilter made of glass which volume of 30 liters while the biofilter media is volcanic gravel. In this research the established HRT were 24, 12, 6 and 3 hours. The results showed that the efficiency of BOD concentration reduction in artificial domestic wastewater reached 80%. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

This study examined the effect of Zn2+ ion substitution on ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 nanoparticles (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) towards signal Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). The co-precipitation method synthesised the nanoparticles at a temperature of 90°C. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results showed a polycrystalline structure with a crystallite size varied from 19.05 nm to 19.77 nm. In addition, as the Zn element increased in the ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles, the degree of crystallinity increased by 21.72%, respectively. The optical properties of the nanoparticles ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 indicate absorbance at wavelengths of 330.36–331.74 nm. The absorbance level increased as the Zn element decreased, resulting a direct optical gap of 3.47 eV and an indirect optical gap of 3.23 eV. The Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) curve in the SPR biosensor indicated a shift in the reflective angle of the Prism/Au/Air configuration, which is 47.78° on Prisma/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.8Mn0.2Fe2O4/air by 50.75°, and the prism/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.2Mn0.8Fe2 O4/air by 51.04°. The substitution of Zn ions in the compound Zn x Mn(1-x)Fe2O4 affects the resulting ATR curve. The shift in the SPR angle is caused by changes in the refractive index in each layer which is influenced by the concentration of each material which has an impact on the absorbance ability and photon reflectance. This research has the potential to continue with the testing of dielectric and magnetic properties, as well as special testing for biological analytes compatible with ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Medicinal plant recognition manually takes a lot of time and money. Moreover, to reduce these resources, some researchers propose to implement artificial intelligence technology. This paper aims are to conduct a systematic literature review of medicinal plant leaf recognition published in the last two years (2019-2020) from IEEE, Springer and science Direct. We obtained 15 studies in the field of medicinal plant leaf recognition using artificial intelligence. The dataset used for medicinal plant leaf recognition is mostly used private dataset, however, there are public dataset named Leaf, Flavia, Swedish dataset. We also found robust method that can be used for medicinal plant leaf recognition is Multichannel Modified Local Gradient Pattern (MCMLGP) and Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) as feature extraction;and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Multi-Layer Perceptron trained with Backpropagation algorithm (MLP-BP), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Transfer Learning (VGG19) as classifier. © 2021 IEEE.
