Photovoltaic Fault Detection in Remote Areas Using Fuzzy-Based Multiple Linear Regression (FMLR)

This research focused on developing and implementing a fault detection model for photovoltaic (PV) systems in remote areas, utilizing a Fuzzy-Based Multiple Linear Regression (FMLR) approach. The study aimed to address the challenges of monitoring PV systems in locations with limited access to conventional power grids and technical resources. The fault detection system integrated environmental parameters such as solar radiation, temperature, wind speed, and rainfall, alongside PV system parameters like panel voltage, current, battery voltage, and inverter performance. Data collection and preprocessing were conducted over a specified period to identify operational patterns under both normal and faulty conditions, ensuring data accuracy through cleaning, normalization, and categorization. The research was conducted in Pandan Arang Village, Kandis District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera, Indonesia, contributing to the improvement of reliability and sustainability of renewable energy sources in isolated communities. The total number of data points for 276 rows with 6 attributes each was 1656 records. The MLR model was developed to predict the output power of the PV system, while fuzzy logic was employed to handle uncertainties in the data, offering a more flexible and adaptive decision-making process. The system applied fuzzy rules to determine the charging status (P3), categorizing it into Optimal Charging, Adjusted Charging, Charging Delay, or Fault Alert. The model was tested with real-time data, and its performance was validated through comparison with manual inspections. The results showed that the FMLR-based fault detection system effectively identified faults and optimized the performance of the PV system, making it suitable for remote areas in South Sumatera. © (2025), (science and Information Organization). Deaf people are people who are unable to communicate with spoken language. Deaf people communicate with the Indonesian Sign System or commonly known as SIBI. In fact, deaf people often communicate and socialize with normal people, but not all normal people understand and understand SIBI. We as researchers want to provide a way out so that deaf people can convey information to normal people, who do not understand SIBI. The input of this research is SIBI movement which is saved in Video format, then the video is processed with the LSTM algorithm. Video The results of the processing are in the form of classified words, the output of this research is in the form of text. The word data set in this study consisted of 3 words, each word contained 30 data sets. The level of accuracy of this study when recognizing words in SIBI that do not hit the face is 100%. © 2023 IEEE.

Sorption-enhanced steam gasification of fine coal waste for fuel producing

Improving the quality of syngas from fine coal waste using the sorption-enhanced gasification process is a novel technology in the production of H2. The effect of CaO on CO2 absorption and H2 increase in the steam fine coal gasification process was determined in a fixed bed gasifier. The steam gasification process took place at 650 °C using bentonite and CaO as catalysts and absorbents. Steam increased the H2 concentration in the syngas to 58 vol%. In-situ CO2 absorption is more effective with the addition of CaO. The maximum percentage of CO2 was absorbed when the Ca/C ratio 2 was 78.33 %. The H2 content in the syngas after the CO2 was absorbed increased rapidly to 75.80 vol% at a Ca-to-carbon-mole ratio (Ca/C) of 1.5 and a steam-to-feedstock ratio (S/F) of 1.5. CaO did not produce significant results for low heating value (LHV) or cold gas efficiency (CGE), with results of 12 MJ/Nm3 and 44.53 %. The dominant water gas shift reaction due to the influence of steam and CaO increased H2/CO up to 9.11, which made the syngas from this work suitable for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. © 2022 The Authors

A crucial aspect of autonomous vehicles is path planning, which involves using various algorithms to determine the most efficient routes. This study investigates the application of the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm to create a system for identifying the shortest path. The process includes collecting coordinate data from specific test locations on the Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya campus to generate a graph-based map for analysis. The study begins with gathering route data through the Google Maps application, which includes 182 routes. In simulation tests, the routes generated by ACO differ from those suggested by Google Maps;sometimes, the ACO route is longer and sometimes shorter, due to the probabilistic nature of the ACO algorithm in finding optimal routes. The average error compared to Google Maps is 11.7 meters. Additional tests introduce obstacles on the road, requiring the system to find alternative routes. For instance, the initial route from the auditorium to the Faculty of science and Math is 38-39-11-53-110-54-111 with a route length of 670 m. After adding a roadblock in front of the Faculty of engineering, the route changes to 38-39-116-40-70-69-56-111, with a route length of 730 meters. These tests demonstrate that the ACO algorithm effectively identifies the best routes for autonomous vehicles, both under normal conditions and when obstacles are present. © 2024 IEEE.

Efficient path planning technology for autonomous vehicles not only yields significant time savings but also contributes to reducing fuel usage. Various methodologies have been introduced and documented in the literature concerning the path planning of autonomous vehicles. While these methodologies may not ensure an optimal solution, they have demonstrated successful applications in their respective contexts, especially the ant colony algorithm. Nevertheless, not many papers discuss the literature review from the viewpoint of ant colony-based path planning. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review encompassing the modeling, optimization criteria, and solution algorithms related to the ant colony for path planning. In this study, the review of the ant colony algorithm is divided into global and local path planning. Based on the review results, the ant colony algorithm appears suitable for global path planning. To achieve better performance, it can be combined with other algorithms such as artificial potential field (APF), genetic algorithm, and particle swarm algorithm. These studies are conducted solely in simulations. Therefore, further research should be carried out to ensure the performance of combining the ant colony and APF for autonomous vehicles for both global and local path planning. © 2023 IEEE.

Fine Tuning Attribute Weighted Naïve Bayes (FTAWNB) is a reliable modified Naïve Bayes model. Even though it is able to provide high accuracy on ordinal data, this model is sensitive to outliers. To improve the performance of FTAWNB, this research modified the Partial Instances Reduction (PIR) technique to make the FTAWNB more adaptive to outliers. Nevertheless, in contrast to the original PIR technique, which substitutes missing values for data values deemed outliers, the PIR technique suggested in this study replaces data values deemed outliers using a Naïve Bayes weighting approach. The attribute values from the outlier data are replaced with the highest probability values for the attributes in the actual class. This PIR technique is referred to as modified PIR. The FTAWNB model with modified PIR has been evaluated using the Gaming Disorder dataset. Replacing the four attributes with the least amount of information resulted in accuracy gains of 99.74%, an increase of 1.53% over the FTAWNB model. The experimental result shows that adding the modified PIR technique to the FTAWNB model can handle the outlier in the data, proving it by increasing the performance in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall without pruning the dataset used. © 2025, Ital Publication. Household bleach products as high-performance and cost-effective cleaning agents for membrane fouling

It has been widely known that polymeric membrane such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is very prone to fouling that occurs during the filtration process. In the same light, membrane cleaning has also been popularly used as a mean to remove foulants which accumulated on or inside the membrane. In this paper, the utilization of domestic bleach, which is affordable and easily found in the nearest markets, as the membrane cleaning agent is discussed. The performance evaluation is conducted on three kinds of commercial domestic bleaches, namely Bayclin, Proclin, and Soclin. In order to study deeper about those product potentials, the performance is compared with the pure sodium hypochloride (NaOCl) which has been known as a common chemical cleaning agent, and distillate water. The results show that the bleach products work excellence in cleaning the fouled membrane which confirmed by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis results, in which membranes cleaned with the bleaches have cleaner surface compared to that cleaned with distillate water. Interestingly, the positive outcome can also be seen in the flux recovery ratio (FRR) of the membranes after cleaning which managed to recover up to 95% of the lost flux. Overall, all three bleach products showed closely similar performance as the original NaOCl, and showed far better performance than distillate water. This result emphasizes that the domestic bleaches are highly promising to be membrane chemical cleaning agents, replacing the common chemicals. This work makes a significant contribution toward giving reasonably priced options for alternative methods of cleaning membranes. © 2023 The Author(s)

For safe operation of a photovoltaic generating system, an insulation monitoring function, which can immediately detect deterioration of insulation between photovoltaic module strings and the earth, is indispensable. This function requires accurate measurement, low leakage current and suppression of rising voltage against the earth. In this paper, a new insulation monitoring method of photovoltaic module strings is proposed by the improved existing self-biased method that has an inevitable voltage rise under measurement. In this new method, both terminals of photovoltaic module strings are always connected to the ground with appropriate resistors. Theoretical discussion and experiments for this new method showed precise measurement, and acceptable leakage current under various outdoor conditions. In addition, it was confirmed that this method could sufficiently decrease in the voltage rise compared with the existing self-biased method. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Speech recognition and response system technology in service robot research continues to evolve alongside technical advances and the increasing demand for intelligent automation across industries. The development of machine learning, digital signal processing, and artificial neural networks has brought significant advancements to speech recognition systems. While speech recognition has been implemented in various systems, there is limited discussion on categorizing these systems by examining four aspects: speech recognition applications, datasets used, emotional speech recognition, and automatic speech recognition. In this study, a review of these four aspects is conducted, focusing on the algorithms and methods used, along with their advantages and disadvantages, particularly in the context of implementing them in service robots using the Indonesian language. This study involves a literature review of 100 research papers from the last five years. The review concludes that the use of the transformer method combined with other techniques and Indonesian language datasets is still very limited. Therefore, future research will focus on developing and implementing these methods in humanoid service robots. © 2024 IEEE.

AIS (Automatic Identification System) data is an important data source in the shipping and logistics industry to track and monitor ships in real-time. Extraction of transshipment features from AIS data is essential in understanding the pattern and characteristics of transshipment activity at a particular port or place. This study discusses an efficient AIS data preprocessing framework to prepare the transshipment feature extraction. The preprocessing steps include data collection, data cleansing, trajectory extraction, trajectory cleaning, and overlapping trajectory extraction. One of the crucial approaches used in this study is the application of parallel computing. Parallel computing allows us to execute independent data processing tasks at the same time simultaneously. In AIS data preprocessing, the parallel approach allows us to clean, populate, and process data from many vessels in less time. To test the applicability, we created a final comparison for different types of ships based on its AIS data for Indonesia from November 2022 to April 2023. Using parallel computing to process AIS data makes data processing more efficient, especially for large and complex AIS data. This efficiency accelerates data preparation before transshipment feature extraction. The results show that the framework can accelerate runtime and improve trajectory quality. © 2023 IEEE.
