Impact of preparedness on safety behavior in dealing with emergencies on container ships: an analysis of the role of safety knowledge, motivation, and awareness

The loading and unloading activities of container ships at the Tanjung Perak Port is imperative, as they can be carried out quickly and efficiently. These ships tend to have a high frequency of visits and possess the largest gross tonnage among ships used for the transportation of goods. The occurrence of an accident involving a container ship can have a detrimental effect on the seamless delivery of goods via sea transportation. Furthermore, the crew be adequately prepared in order to mitigate the risk. As evidenced by research on safety behaviour have not taken preparedness as a factor into consideration when addressing emergencies. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of safety knowledge, motivation, and awareness on safety behaviour in dealing with emergencies on container ships in accordance with relevant regulations. A total of 180 ship crew members served as respondents and it analysed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that preparedness, including safety procedures, emergency training, and crew security culture is an important aspect in dealing with emergencies. Furthermore, this study obtained an R square value of 0.525 in the structural model, indicating that the independent variables have an influence on behaviour, and it was classified in the good category. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

This study examined the effect of Zn2+ ion substitution on ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 nanoparticles (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) towards signal Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). The co-precipitation method synthesised the nanoparticles at a temperature of 90°C. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results showed a polycrystalline structure with a crystallite size varied from 19.05 nm to 19.77 nm. In addition, as the Zn element increased in the ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles, the degree of crystallinity increased by 21.72%, respectively. The optical properties of the nanoparticles ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 indicate absorbance at wavelengths of 330.36–331.74 nm. The absorbance level increased as the Zn element decreased, resulting a direct optical gap of 3.47 eV and an indirect optical gap of 3.23 eV. The Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) curve in the SPR biosensor indicated a shift in the reflective angle of the Prism/Au/Air configuration, which is 47.78° on Prisma/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.8Mn0.2Fe2O4/air by 50.75°, and the prism/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.2Mn0.8Fe2 O4/air by 51.04°. The substitution of Zn ions in the compound Zn x Mn(1-x)Fe2O4 affects the resulting ATR curve. The shift in the SPR angle is caused by changes in the refractive index in each layer which is influenced by the concentration of each material which has an impact on the absorbance ability and photon reflectance. This research has the potential to continue with the testing of dielectric and magnetic properties, as well as special testing for biological analytes compatible with ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Ontology is an organization of knowledge that can represent knowledge in a structured manner. An ontology-based Knowledge Management System is a system that combines elements of knowledge management with the application of ontology as a knowledge base. Meanwhile, knowledge is dynamic and continues to develop all the time, giving rise to new knowledge. Therefore, the ontology must be updated regularly through ontology enrichment to meet adequate knowledge requirements. Ontology enrichment is carried out to ensure that the ontology remains relevant and responsive to developments in its knowledge domain. However, there are no standard stages in implementing enrichment in ontology-based Knowledge Management systems. Therefore, this research conducted a literature review to determine when and how to apply enrichment in ontology development. Data was obtained from related journals in 2018 - 2023. The method used in this research is the Systematic Literature Review method to systematically identify, review, evaluate, and interpret all available research in the area of interest with specific relevant research questions. The research results show that the ontology enrichment procedure generally includes preprocessing stages, relation extraction, and enrichment processes. Ontology enrichment is generally applied during the development of a new ontology as part of the ontology development cycle and on existing ontologies, which are a separate stage from the initial ontology development cycle. Based on these findings, the researcher provides recommendations for researchers who want to use or develop new ontology enrichment methods. © 2023 IEEE.

In the last decade, the Indonesian government has implemented a program to use biodiesel as a substitute for fossil diesel to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. On the other hand, the development of biodiesel as an alternative fuel to replace fossil diesel has several challenges, one of which is the production of biodiesel, which is more complicated and requires a long process. However, the direct use of crude palm oil (CPO) in diesel engines is not recommended because it has many drawbacks. Research recently shows that fuel additives in diesel engines have promising prospects. Therefore, to solve the problem, this study used pure palm oil (PPaO) as the primary fuel, with the addition of silicon oxide (SiO2) as a fuel additive in diesel engines. The results showed that using SiO2 additive in PPaO can increase thermal efficiency by 18.8% at 60% load compared to diesel fuel (DF). Nevertheless, using this fuel increased specific fuel consumption (SFC) by 3.9% on average and increased the opacity by 153% compared to diesel fuel. These results indicate that SiO2 has the potential to be developed as an effective additive to PPaO fuel that can improve the efficiency and performance of diesel engines. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. Rice bran is one of important ingredients in chicken diet as protein and energy sources. It accounts for 15 - 30% in chicken diet. Rice bran has great potential to be used as feed ingredient in tropical country. However, the data of rice bran potential in many areas are not available yet. The aim of this study was to observe the potential of rice bran in Sidenreng Rappang regency as local feed ingredient. This study used descriptive method and analyzed by simple statistical analysis. The sampling locations were five rice milling units according to production capacity. Production capacity, milling process, quantity of end and by-product were observed in this study to obtain the data of rice bran production as primary data. Harvested area and rice grain production were obtained from BPS (Statistics Indonesia) as secondary data. The results showed that milling process of rice grain was producing 60.35% of rice, 0.004% of broken rice, 6.54% of rice bran, and 33.09% of husk. Based on the data of rice grain production (667,523 ton), it could be estimated that rice bran production was 43,656 ton in Sidenreng Rappang. The highest rice bran production was in Pitu Riawa district (6,553.21 ton) and the lowest rice bran production was in Tellu Limpoe (2,071.47 ton). © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study investigates the impact of feature selection results using the filter method on the performance of predictive models for the nutritional status of children aged 0-23 months. This study aimed to understand how correlation-based feature selection methods affect the efficiency and accuracy of predictive models. The dataset comes from the Basic Health Research survey, which consists of 84 variables and around 130,000 data, including anthropometric, family, socioeconomic, and environmental information. In this study, various filter-based feature selection methods were applied to evaluate and identify features that have significant relationships with children’s nutritional status, both linearly and non-linearly. The mutual information method was used to identify complex relationships between features and target variables, while the Pearson Correlation Coefficient and information gain were used to assess the relevance of numerical and categorical features. Of the 84 variables in the dataset, 37 features were selected after the selection process. The model performance evaluation was carried out using the Random Forest (RF) and Gradient Boosting (GB) algorithms, by comparing the results between the dataset that had been selected and without feature selection. The RF model without feature selection produces accuracy: 0,84600, precision: 0,83958, recall: 0,84600, F1-score: 0,78962, and a computation time of 9 seconds. The GB model without feature selection produces accuracy: 0,86330, precision: 0,84722, recall: 0,86330, F1-score: 0,84925, and a computation time of 2 minutes 50 seconds. After feature selection and cross-validation, the RF model shows accuracy: 0,85701, precision: 0,83599, recall: 0,85701, and F1 score: 0,83484. The GB model shows accuracy at 0,86124, precision at 0,84226, recall at 0,86130, and F1 score at 0,84120.

Liquid smoke is the condensation result of wood pyrolysis. It contains lots of compounds formed by constituent pyrolysis process such as cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. Lignin can be used to produce organic acids, phenols, carbonyl that become the compound of natural antibiotics, antioxidants, antibiotic, disinfectants, or as biopesticides and food preservation. Those compounds have different proportions such as type, wood moisture and pyrolysis temperature. Liquid smoke from wood can be used as natural antibiotics contains compounds that can be extracted such as phenol derivatives, which can inhibit microbes' growth. There are many studies about raw materials of liquid smoke such as: rice husk, coconut shell, Meranti sawdust, corncob and cinnamon. Based on literature study, Liquid smoke from coconut shell has percentage phenol 2.24%, total acid 15.7% highest than other material. Followed by the lowest pH 1.41. It can be concluded liquid smoke from coconut shell can be used natural antibiotics in animals. Coconut shell liquid smoke as a natural antibiotic has limitation in distribution and susceptible to physical and chemical changes during storage. Therefore, it was necessary to developed encapsulation of coconut shell liquid smoke. The functional properties of liquid smoke microcapsules can be maintained by using chitosan and maltodextrin as encapsulant. The aims of this review are to understand coconut shell as the best raw material of liquid smoke, after being encapsulated that can be used as natural antibiotics in animals. Based on literature study, coconut shell liquid smoke encapsulated using maltodextrin-chitosan has pH (2.70 0.08), total acid (2.70 0.08%) and total phenol (4.40 0.05%). The paper stresses the need for more studies on using of liquid smoke encapsulated of coconut shell as natural antibiotics in animals. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study aims to analyze the population dynamics of red snapper in Alor waters, conducted from March 2018 to March 2019. Fish total length data is collected from red snapper fishermen twice a week using a stratified random method. Size structure, cohort numbers and average length of fish per cohort using Bhattacharya method, asymptotic length and growth rate using Ford and Walford methods, total mortality, capture and natural using linearized length converted catch curve using Pauly methods, exploitation rate and Y/R by Beverton and Holt methods. The results show that red snapper measuring 180-555 mm, male 220 - 555 mm, females 180 - 330 mm, consisting of four cohort, L∞ 594.25 mm, K 0.69 per year, F, M, and E are 0.84, 0.63 and 0.56 per year respectively, the actual Y/R and Y/R are optimal at 0.0773 and 0.0989 grams per recruitment. The conclusion that catches are dominated by young and pre-adult fish, population consists of four cohort, fish in the population quickly reach L∞, the ratio of F and M rate are greater than one (F/M> 1), high F rates cause high rate of E and impact on the recruitment process that is not optimal. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) which was a type of fish not only a household consumption commodity in Indonesia, but also a superior commodity as an export from the fisheries sector in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility of the skipjack tuna catching use pole and line, and hand line fishing gear in Bone bay, conducted from January to December 2018 in Luwu Regency and Sinjai Regency. The method used in this study is the survey research method with cluster random sampling of skipjack tuna fishermen. The data analysis used financial feasibility analysis consists of profit analysis and investment analysis includes Net Present Value (NPV), Net Benefit-Cost Ratio (Net B/C), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The results show that, in one year of catching skipjack tuna in Bone bay waters, the highest profit was found in fishing businesses use pole and line fishing gear of IDR 2,720,662,561. For fishing use hand line gear get profit in one year of IDR 450,810,385. From the acquisition of each investment analysis used above shows an analysis of the investment criteria obtained NPV > 0, net B/C > 1 and IRR > the prevailing interest rate (12%), so it can be concluded that these two types of fishing gear are feasible to be developed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
