Personnel and education data very important for organizations, including the military. All data related to military personnel will give effect positions and careers in the military field. The integration of personnel and education data can assist in processing and decision making. An analysis is needed so that the developed system can be useful for the long term. Analysis with IT balanced scorecard and COBIT® 2019, will be able to help and fill the gaps in the existing system based on the objectives of the military organization itself. It is shown that the domains BAI05 (Managed Organizational Change) and DSS02 (Managed Service Requests and Incidents) are still not being implemented well. The system developed will have the features and capabilities to support the organization in achieving its goals, including in the field of staffing and education. Besides, it provides convenience in making decisions in terms of positions related to personnel careers. © 2020 IEEE.

Service-Learning (S-L) has been shown to be effective on a large number of cognitive and affective measures for college students. S-L is a pedagogy in which student learning objectives and real community needs are met in a credit-bearing course. In engineering the integration of S-L into any courses, much less existing core courses in a curriculum does not match the penetration in other disciplines. The Mechanical engineering (ME) Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell has incorporated S-L projects into core courses so that every student has at least one required core course every semester with a S-L project that is either a required or elective part of the course. During 2005-06 fourteen core ME courses had S-L projects, and a required engineering ethics course also had S-L in addition to four elective courses. Nine of twelve ME faculty members incorporated S-L in those courses (more recently 12 of 13), in addition to 3 faculty outside the department teaching courses for ME students. This initiative is part of a college-wide effort to have all five undergraduate programs have S-L integrated into the core curriculum (ECE, ChE, CE, and Plastics E). Courses and projects included, for examples, introduction to engineering for first year students (common to students in all five programs) who designed and built educational displays for the local national historic park, sophomore design lab with device development for student relatives or friends with disabilities, a dynamics course with safety analysis of many local playgrounds, a convective process course with the design of a water supply system for a village in a developing country, a statics course with a water tower design for another village (with the later two systems actually constructed in the villages the college has "adopted"), a machine elements course with four different S-L miniprojects, a ME laboratory course with the design of a measurement system to test local playground surface hardness, a

To evaluate the waste process incineration, a mass, and energy balance is employed to investigate the waste incineration process in a fixed bed. Thermodynamics equilibrium is implemented to describe the incineration process. The complete combustion is only products CO2, H2O, SO2, ash, and excess O2 considered. The mass balance calculates the total mass flow in and out incinerator. Energy balance includes input heat, evaporating heat, chemical heat, radiation, and convection. The input heat is calculated by considering the heat capacity, temperature, heating value, and total mass flow. Evaporation heat is calculated based on the water content, mass flow of each aqueous, and evaporation hot water flow. The result shows that efficiency energy of waste incinerator up to 79,33%. It means the incinerator is included in the good category. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Microgrids appear as the key part of the future power systems that include distributed generators, renewable energy, and energy storage. In this paper a decentralized power sharing control scheme that includes droop control with virtual impedances with PI controllers for the voltage and current is proposed for an islanded AC microgrid with two voltage source inverters in parallel that share a residential load. To avoid circulating currents and unbalanced power sharing due to line impedance differences in the microgrid, virtual impedances are added. The proposed control scheme is implemented in MAT-LAB/Simulink to prove the proper operation under inductive behavior and mismatches in the line impedances of the microgrid system.

The Marching Cubes algorithm is widely used to generate surfaces from implicit functions. It builds a mesh of triangles but many degenerated ones happen to appear among them, which can make the mesh thus built unfit for many applications, like the Finite Element Method. To overcome this undesired behavior our work proposes changes on the triangle generation that are automatically generated by Marching Cubes inside each voxel. We first generate the polygon border inside each voxel that intersects the surface. Each polygon is tested so as to guarantee the need to insert a new vertex inside itself, the triangles being then generated according to each polygon properties in order to guarantee the best ratio between their sides and angles. The resulting triangles inside each voxel exhibit the best possible ratio between their dimensions, thus leading to a better mesh. Copyright © 2015 SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications. The voice patterns of gender and age have been used as speaker's identity and implied into sectors such as smart cards, healthcare, banking, and other security access controls. However, age, illness, and ambient noise factors exist challenging issues of voice changes in speech recognition systems to be resolved. This paper presents experiment results of observing those issues, and its goal was obtaining the elements of voice features to secure the speaker's identity. Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) was used to conduct observations on spectral centroid and bandwidth, it has effectively performed capturing features of individual speech signal. The experiment was conducted with data split into three groups: under 13, range 13 to 19, and above 19 years old for both male and female. The results showed that both gender under 13 have centroid voices reached to 98%, age of 13 to 19 remain with centroid reached 98% of bandwidth for male and passing over 100% for female, then above 19 for both genders speak lower with centroid 50% of bandwidth, and male above age of 19 remains to keep centroid about 50% and female changes to 95%. MFCC fits to expose the speech spectrum for the purpose of an analysis frame on specific local spectral properties of voices, and the finding is to form a security line or an individual profiling adoption.

The Phase Change Materials (PCM) are one of the options to decrease the energy demand on edifications to meet the global climate challenges. These materials are characterized by a high value of latent heat, therefore increasing the building’s overall thermal inertia and decreasing the energy demand for thermal acclimatization. This paper studied the influence of theoretical layers of PCM in a typical commercial building located in different climate zones and performed an economic viability study for large scale applications Due to its unique characteristics, eight different Brazilian cities were chosen, in order to cover eight different bioclimates and three different PCM thickness were evaluated. Numerical simulations were performed in EnergyPlus with a standard edification developed by the U.S Department of Energy with changes in the building envelope in order to adapt the model to typical Brazilian envelopes. Phase change materials with twelve different phase change temperatures, varying from 25°C to 36°C, were compared to the reference scenario, in order to determine the most suitable temperature for each of the eight locations. Economic analyzes were performed based on the common prices of electricity and labor costs. The results showed a dynamic payback time between 27,3 and 43,3 years. © 2023, The Authors. Exploration is the risky part in the mining business stage. The final goal of exploration is to discover an economic deposit in the certain area; generally by using the three main stages of exploration which are to find, to prove and then to evaluate the presence of minerals deposit. All the three tasks are required the exploration database which is commonly consisting of spatial information of raster, vector and point data. The different type of data is required different data handling as well as data storage system. To reduce the risk, exploration should be done phase by phase. Commonly every single phase of exploration have different propose, method and data collected. Understanding of the exploration business processes, activities and what kind of the data collected and/or required for every stage is important to design and improve the database system itself. In addition, the growing of information technology and computers science, and the increase of data exploration itself; the exploration evaluation will rely more on digital data processing. Database management and quality assurance awareness is critical to build the solid and correct exploration information for further analysis and evaluation of every exploration stages. The database is the primary input to create decision for further exploration stages.

Synthesis of a magnetic iron oxide/zinc oxide engineered nanocatalyst for enhanced visible-light photodegradation of Cartasol brilliant violet 5BFN in aqueous solution

Engineered nanocomposites combine the physicochemical properties of different materials, increasing the applicability for environmental remediation. Cartasol brilliant violet (5BFN) is an organic and toxic compound that pollutes water sources due to the widespread use in the industry. In this study, a novel engineered nanocomposite was fabricated using magnetic iron oxide (IO-NPs) and zinc oxide (ZnO-NPs) nanoparticles and used for 5BFN photodegradation in aqueous solutions. The IO-NPs and ZnO-NPs were synthesized via the co-precipitation and green methods, respectively. A crystalline structure was confirmed for both nanoparticles with an average crystallite size of about 50nm for IO-NPs and 29nm for ZnO-NPs. The IO-NPs’ surface was modified using a silica matrix, allowing the encapsulation, accumulation, and formation of the ZnO-NPs shell. Although a superparamagnetic behavior is predominant, the ZnO-NPs promoted low spin coordination and decreased the saturation magnetization from 66.8 to 17.5 emu/g. A sterical stabilization with the siloxane and silanol groups of the silica matrix also decreases the magnetic response. The 5BFN photodegradation was evaluated varying the IO:ZnO weight ratio, initial pH, and nanocatalyst dose. A maximum photodegradation performance of 89.2% was achieved using 0.4 g/L of IO@ZnO-NPs and pH 6.8. The IO:ZnO weight ratio plays an important role, increasing the photocatalytic performance through the reduction of the bandgap. This enhances the visible light adsorption on the IO@ZnO-NPs, allowing a higher 5BFN photodegradation and extending their application for other organic dyes in water sources. © 2021 Elsevier B.V.

Lime peel essential oil (LPO) exhibits promising antibacterial properties, yet its inherent instability limits its practical applications, necessitating effective encapsulation strategies. Microencapsulation provides protection and facilitates the controlled release of active compounds. This study developed LPO microcapsules via complex coacervation, employing gum arabic and gelatin as encapsulating agents for wound dressing applications. Process optimization identified optimal conditions at pH 4.25, 15 minutes stirring time, and 50°C temperature. The microcapsules yielded 45.13%, oil content 77.03%, encapsulation efficiency 92.14%, and a 44.94% core release within 2 hours, following the Avrami kinetic model ( n  = 0.345). Morphological analysis revealed spherical microcapsules with an average diameter of 1.182 μm, effectively protecting LPO from thermal degradation. These microcapsules were subsequently immobilized onto bacterial cellulose produced from pineapple core fermentation using Komagataeibacter xylinus. The resulting material demonstrated potential as an antibacterial wound dressing, with inhibition zones of 11.51 mm against Staphylococcus aureus and 13.70 mm against Escherichia coli. This research presents an innovative approach to wound dressing development, integrating protective and antibacterial functions to prevent skin infection effectively.
