The previous approaches have failed to effectually score the language proficiency of a non-native speakers especially in case of non- English languages which are complex and a slight change of pronunciation can alter the nature of the word. In this study, we proposed an automated language scoring system to test the proficiency of Chinese language. We have employed a novel fusion approach of a 38-feature based model and a Siamese convolutional neural network (Siamese CNN) which can accuracy identify the difference between the native speech and the test taker's speech. The results show that out model have achieved comparable performance to the state of the art and solved the pronunciation problems as well. Furthermore, we have provided a fusion based approach and provided extensive amount of experiments which shows that our method is state of the art and can be utilized in real time Chinese language proficiency scoring.

Large Language Models represent a transformative technology at the forefront of artificial intelligence and natural language processing, with applications spanning diverse domains. This study conducts a comprehensive science mapping analysis of the LLMs research field, leveraging bibliometric techniques to uncover its thematic structure, trends, and global actors involved. Utilizing data from the Web of science, a corpus of 1303 research documents from 2010 to 2023 is analyzed, revealing a notable surge in research activity, particularly in recent years. Key thematic areas driving research within the field are identified, including chatbot, code generation, augmented reality, transformers, and machine learning paradigms. Foundational technologies such as transformers are pivotal in shaping the research landscape, while emerging themes like prompt learning hint at future directions. This study offers valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers seeking to navigate the dynamic landscape of LLMs research and harness its full potential for societal benefit.

A mixture of experts model for predicting persistent weather patterns

Weather and atmospheric patterns are often persistent. The simplest weather forecasting method is the so-called persistence model, which assumes that the future state of a system will be similar (or equal) to the present state. Machine learning (ML) models are widely used in different weather forecasting applications, but they need to be compared to the persistence model to analyse whether they provide a competitive solution to the problem at hand. In this paper, we devise a new model for predicting low-visibility in airports using the concepts of mixture of experts. Visibility level is coded as two different ordered categorical variables: cloud height and runway visual height. The underlying system in this application is stagnant approximately in 90% of the cases, and standard ML models fail to improve on the performance of the persistence model. Because of this, instead of trying to simply beat the persistence model using ML, we use this persistence as a baseline and learn an ordinal neural network model that refines its results by focusing on learning weather fluctuations. The results show that the proposal outperforms persistence and other ordinal autoregressive models, especially for longer time horizon predictions and for the runway visual height variable. Trust and security are critical deployment require-ments for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) networks. A recent protocol, called TRUTH, integrates security mechanisms for authentication and privacy alongside a Dempster-Shafer based trust model, to assess the trustworthiness of collected data. We analyze this protocol and show that it does not comply with the implementation requirements of the 5G standard, and that flaws in the identification of involved parties hinder its adoption by 5G devices. We show how to fix this protocol and tailor it for the specific 5G implementation constraints, by enhancing its computational and communication performance. Finally, we show how to prove the security of this fixed protocol (TRUTH +) using the Tamarin automated verification tool.

This paper presents a secure image cryptography telecom system based on a Chua's circuit chaotic noise generator. A chaotic system based on synchronised Master-Slave Chua's circuits has been used as a chaotic true random number generator (CTRNG). Chaotic systems present unpredictable and complex behaviour. This characteristic, together with the dependence on the initial conditions as well as the tolerance of the circuit components, make CTRNGs ideal for cryptography. In the proposed system, the transmitter mixes an input image with chaotic noise produced by a CTRNG. Using thresholding techniques, the chaotic signal is converted to a true random bit sequence. The receiver must be able to reproduce exactly the same chaotic noise in order to subtract it from the received signal. This becomes possible with synchronisation between the two Chua's circuits: through the use of specific techniques, the trajectory of the Slave chaotic system can be bound to that of the Master circuit producing (almost) identical behaviour. Additional blocks have been used in order to make the system highly parameterisable and robust against common attacks. The whole system is simulated in Matlab. Simulation results demonstrate satisfactory performance, as well as, robustness against cryptanalysis. The Business Process Modelling and Notation (BPMN) is a widely-accepted standard for process modelling, which can be used to model the clinical processes contained in guidelines. computer systems based on guidelines need to embed these clinical processes, e.g. using a computer-Interpretable Guideline (CIG) language. However, encoding guidelines in a CIG language is a difficult task which is usually performed by technical staff. Building on our previous work, the transformation-based refinement of guideline models, in this paper we describe an algorithm to transform BPMN models into the SDA CIG language. The use of BPMN has the potential to empower clinicians in the modelling task. In combination with the transformation algorithm, this can lead to an increased adoption of CIG languages, SDA and others.

During emergency situations, reliable and fast communication is crucial for an effective response and coordination of recovery and rescue operations. However, regular communication means may not be always available nor reliable. In this scenario, constellations of Low Earth Orbit satellites can offer high bandwidth capabilities with (relatively) low latency, making them ideal for supporting disaster management teams on the ground and complementing (or replacing) terrestrial telecommunication infrastructures. In this context, the use of the recently defined QUIC protocol can provide the possibility to seamlessly switch from ground communication to satellite ones when needed. In this paper, we discuss the case study of satellite communication in an emergency scenario, assessing via a simulation study the benefits achievable by QUIC under varying queuing parameters and congestion control algorithm behavior.

The ubiquitous learning is used as a means of supporting teaching processes by means of the use of mobile and wireless communication technologies, sensors and tracking mechanisms / tracking, working together to integrate students with their environment. The process of clinical learning for nursing students may be the main cause of increased stress on teachers and students, given the problematic nature of the patients. This paper presents an ubiquitous learning system based on active learning methodology that provides context awareness support for nursing courses. An experiment with control and experimental groups with nursing students demonstrates that for theoretical concepts to be successfully transferred into practice, the context of practice needs to be considered.

The goal of this paper is to bridge the paradigms of Linked Data and Conceptual Modeling, which have been developed from quite distinct concerns, although certain opportunities may stimulate the evolution of the Web towards a new type of knowledge space driven by diagrammatic models. To this end, the work at hand investigates structural patterns in a multitude of modeling languages accumulated over time within the Open Model Initiative Laboratory and defines for each pattern transformation rules that produce graph-based model serializations, thus enabling the processing of diagrammatic models using the Web of Data tech-nological space and practices.
